On the 1250 it does block the top of the screen. Mounting the BMW mount upside down has it sitting about 10mm higher. Might be enough for less taller riders. For me I had to use the included ball mount and powered from the din socket. Brilliant.

Enjoyed that Dave as ever - for me the HUGE size of the screen and the lack of whizwheel usability would make this one a thumbs down for me but really glad to see aftermarket solutions for Apple Carplay for bikes coming along....

Good man Andy. I’m currently testing the Chigee system which works perfectly with the wizzy and is 5”. It’s a lot more expensive though.

what´s with the wizzwheel? On TFT bikes It´s a sub functional add on and is shared with the TfT control functions, and needs to be separately selected.

I saw somewhere recently that it was recommended not to link your phone with the unit but directly to your comms I think it may have been on a Rider Cam video.

Just done a 10 day tour in Europe and rode through the torrential rain and weather warnings in Germany to get to Austria, 9 hours of heavy rain and no issues at all, it is well protected by the screen and work perfectly. GS 1250.

Welcome to the Carpuride family Dave. I have been rocking the 5 inch for a few months on my sister bike of yours. I find it so much better than any of the previous BMW Navigator systems that I sadly invested in. Ok no connection to the wizzy wheel. I appreciate the digital speed readout on Waze rather than the analog needle. For your info..my Cardo Packtalk connects perfectly each and every time. A great review Dave..cheers

Looks like a really neat solution and your 7” display is ace - ideal for reading maps and following directions. And Carpurides discounts are worthwhile. Enjoy.

I had the 5 inch resold it far too small with maps etc. the quality without dout is very good and good value for money I did find the device needed to be deeper into the dash area with the bmw cradle it was to much in your face . I’ve since bought another make with camera front and rear with handle bar button control and literally split the screen while riding a help if someone sneaking up on you 🤣🤣 great video Dave 👍

Mate great vid I absolutely love mine had it on all through Spain the 702 BMW version is perfect. Apparently you can change the logo on start up but not sure yet how to do it. 👍🏻👍🏻

That’s great to know. I’d love to change the logo as I think it cheapens it slightly. It’s the only thing which I don’t like.

Thanks for testing it out Dave, definitely worth a look as I don’t use my old original BMW Sat Nav but rely on my iPhone for Google maps or Waze. Just Back from Turkey and it’s bloody freezing in Scotland🥶Be well and ride safe. Trev

I have seen it on a 1300GS and obviously asked about it and the owner was all positive for it and his dash wasn't covered. What he did and mentioned is that he got into the company and he got an update that the syst is starting up with the BMW intro and not Capuride. For your GPX, as you said the thing mirrors your phone. You need a navigation that loads the GPX and the app needs to be carplay ready and mirror on your screen. Try and play around with Osmand or as far as I know Calimoto loads GPX files as well. I might have just found a good birthday/ Christmas present idea for my husband 😁 Thanks Dave. That's a great system. I may invest in one if I can mount it on my motorcycle. I have a phone mount on a piece of copper pipe which is bolted in via the mirror bolts. Excellent review as always.

Glad you like it. My only concern like all interactive displays car or bike fiddling with them whilst you are driving means you are not looking where you are going. With all the risks that involves it only takes a second to go all pear shaped. Safe riding 👍👍👍

This looks like a great system. I use a navigator 6 on my XR and that works like a charm, no issues and super intuitive. I also have the RR and the turn by turn satnav via the bmw app is helpful but not great. I’d love to either install a bmw nav via a stem mount or possibly one of these in the 5” model but no idea whether I’d need the bmw cradle to supply power or some other solution. Anyhoo, the Carpuride looks great so will definitely be one of the options to consider..

I’m currently reviewing the Chigee system too and then I have a final vid coming comparing the two to make it easier for people to decide.

You might find with your connection issue that if your phone is still paired to your coms and your trying to then connect to the device is causing issue. You might try unpairing the phone from the coms will make the device connection stable.

That seems a really good bit of kit Dave, to save my phone camera I use my old iPhone XR on my phone mount with calimoto and keep my 12 pro in my pocket but I keep the thought in my head of the drug dealer with 2 phones vibes 😂. If you were out over the last few days you would have gotten plenty of rain to test the unit as I was in shercock and Lough Egish yesterday and every time I went to get out of the lorry it chucked it down 😂

This appears to be just a a phone monitor and not a dedicated GPS. So unless you can afford a good data plan to run it what’s the point.

Yes this is all an Apple CarPlay system is.

Slightly off topic, what do you think of bar risers? Do you have a vid on them? I couldnt see one. Enjoying the down to earth honesty of the channel.

Thanks Gaz. I’ve just added them to my GS after doing the Northumberland and noticing lower back pain every day. Whilst I didn’t immediately notice any difference in riding position, I did notice that the lower back pain has gone after a long journey. So they work for me. 🤗

Sadly I’m having issues with the adapter and unit. I’ve been in contact with Carpuride and they sent me another unit. Tried it on two bikes with the adapter and it still doesn’t work. It doesn’t work with the usb either. But it did hard wired. However, I purchased it to use the BMW adapter. Carpuride’s support has been good and they are now send out a new adapter.

Good review, my only thought is that as it’s mirrored to phone, without 4G access, wouldn’t you lose say google maps unless you’ve downloaded them? Interesting too about your SRL2, as I also use that in my Shoei. Think I’ll stick to my Zumo XT for now.

Yes you’re correct about losing the sat nav if there’s no phone signal. I think if you were to venture off the beaten track then this system would not be for you.

Good review Dave, Question for you.... You said that you connected your phone directly to your Sena headset. When you did this could you still listen to audio (Music, Audio books & phone calls) when carplay was active on the CPR Screen? Thanks

Phone charging in your pocket is a negative, sat nav drains the phone.

Surprisingly the battery on my phone has been fine because the screen is off. Still not sure I’d like to go away for the full day without some means of charging but it still lasts a lot longer than when I was solely using the phone.

Calimoto is not yet compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Ive asked myself. The reason I haven't yet bought one!!

On a totally different subject....you appear to be using the DJI mic adapter on your helmet camera. Have you stopped using the Mic2? Are you having problems with it?

No problems as such other than it is very tight to fit it inside the Neotec3 helmet. No probs in my GT air2. 👌🎥
