My name is Kenny Honnas and I’ve been in clinical remission from a severe case of Ulcerative Colitis since 2016 after nutritionally optimizing my gut microbiome. In this episode of GHH, I explain my thoughts on the best way to utilize a carnivore diet as part of a gut microbiome optimizing approach- with example meal plans!

Well done explanation.
Hey Kenny! I have IBD, a severe case, and like you I have been rigorously searching for new ways to help keep me in remission naturally.Unfortunately probiotics make me sick for some reason so I wasn’t able to fully follow through with that, but I have found great relief in CBD oil and ginger root. My flares come on by stress and viral infections not food. I eat a mostly carnavore diet with sourdough bread, rice, and cooked veggies because I have some scaring in my colon that diet is easiest to digest.Kale has also been a great relief for me. I just wanted to say, thanks for giving me the motivation to never give up. I’ve been told if I didn’t get my inflammation down, I would have my colon removed. Watching your videos, motivated me to keep looking for answers and to keep trying everything . I think it’s important for people like us who have found a solution to share what works. We are the future. The biological meds that are given eventually stop working so it’s super important to find solutions ASAP in your IBD journey! Keep making videos!

Carnivore does work. I did it for 8 months but lost way too much weight. I ate 2.5 lbs of grass fed steak and hamburger every day whenever I was hungry with salt and clean water (reverse osmosis or spring water). I went from going to the bathroom every two hours to maybe twice a day. I think just eating whole foods i.e. grass fed beef and salt and clean water and easily digestible fruits and "vegetables" like squash zuccini and avocado is the right way to go. quit eating the food that made you sick, get exercise and sunlight and let your body heal its self.

How about the mental / emotional component? Did you have any stress factors before your initial diagnosis?
@team_honnas
Жыл бұрын
I think that will be one of my next projects. Definitely had stress factors, but I have a bit of a different take on the role stress plays. Obviously stress is important, but I think there's an important aspect of the bidirectional relationship between stress/emotions and our physiology that doesn't get enough attention.
Ulcerative colitis here. 14 years since diagnosis. Carnivore diet works the best, organic meats are ideal. Salt, and water always induces remission in me while giving me a clearer mind, and less sleep i require to feel refreshed. However, i worry that im not getting everything i need.. So, I've been slowly re introducing fiber into my diet to feed my gut microbes, promote a healthy gut barrier and optimise eubiosis of the gut. I'm currently on nsaid's, mesalamine. I wish I could come off the drug, however this is my current predicament. I found removing emulsifiers helped tremendously, also, artificial sweeteners, excess sugar, roughage, such as dominant insoluble fiber, and the most impactful environment issue being stress.. if im playing a game and it jump scares me I will get symptomatic. I'm currently eating lamb, cooked with duck fat, vegetables like carrot, corn, peas, beetroot, and some potatoes in small amounts. I take milk kefir in very small amounts. Water kefir in very small amounts, coconut yogurt with blueberries, and dark chocolate drops. (High cocoa) My idea of a cheat meal is a mcchicken patty from mcdonalds which is 160 calories. Supplements i take are curcumin with every meal, glucosamine, b12, and glutamine. I try very hard to both optimize my gut biome, and keep asymptomatic. I don't have any symptoms at present, no blood or mucus, and use the bathroom 1-2 times a day in the morning. I hope some of my adventure can help someone else suffering. Please note: what is working for me isn't necessarily what will work for you.. so, please listen to your body and what it is and isn't okay with. :) If anyone has advice or recommendations I would appreciate that wholeheartedly. I have used kenny's own health journey as a layout for my approach and he is correct on most things. The carnivore diet is an amassing ultimate elimination diet which i stand behind when symptoms become out of control. Thank you, Kenny. Tyson. Regards, from Australia. Update 1: I have past healing the ulcers, I have gone from Eating only meat to adding blueberries, from adding blueberries to adding Melk Kefir, Water Kefir, Goat Kefir, and Water Kefir, taking multivitamins incl. Curcumin w/Black pepper as an anti-inflammatory. I've now added Beetroot, Carrots, Green peas, and Brussell Sprouts, and some dark chocolate 70% cocoa. My body is handling them fine. What Kenny is discussing works, it really does, we just have to learn the foods our body is intolerant of along the way and steer clear of them as there are still foods that disagree with me like strawberries for example. I wish you all the best health. Update 2: I have no symptoms. Go to the bathroom 3 times a day, with full bodied bowel movements. I eat 700g carrots, green peas and beets a da

Could you do a video or suggest a video or research about why you think carnivore or meat based isn’t great long term? I’ve heard one or two others who don’t suggest that and they cited gut issues mainly I think but I, wondering what specifically the issue is. Is it a lack of something in meat or too much of something or what? Does it work for some and not others and that’s why some or so many say they’re healthy after years on it? I guess they could be not telling the truth or have health issues they don’t know about but can’t really assume that without info can only really go on the fact that they seem healthier and take a lot of weight off, though tests would be a lot better. That one meat based guy actually did show some of his labs I wish they’d do that more. Feels like that would really demystify it if you’re doing the diet for many years or do even a bunch of people on it other practitioners then get extensive gut and blood work test and bone density and so on checked. I was looking more into doing animal based including a lot of raw dairy, some core supplements and probiotics, and maybe periods of cabbage juice. Probably would also use erythritol.
Bone broth has oxalate which damages my gut and causes leaky gut

The hardcover is 50 recipes and a total of 122 pages. PDF is also 50 recipes but the format is slightly different so the page count might be slightly lower/higher. 👍🏻

😂 Thank you for the complement
43:47 Scurvy simply does not occur with this style of carnivore diet, please look into it
I have seen that the diet must contain a mix of herbivore and carnivore. It must be balanced and the portion should be not huge

In general I like a balanced approach as well! Although, I do think there are times when variations or more targeted approaches (like a short term carnivore or animal-based diet) can be helpful. Hope you're doing well and wishing you all the best.
Is there a time where one can eat normal again (not junk)? Please I’m distraught and I just want to know. Do you have a video about how you felt? Were u sad or worried. How come no one talks about that. Please

Yes to both questions, I can now eat normally, though I still make gut microbiome conscious decisions with my meals most of the time. But, I also eat junk too whenever we go out to eat. And yes, I was also distraught and felt very defeated at times. I'm sorry you're going through this, but just know there is hope and hopefully this video will help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gIqazbR8ZMe6n9Y.html

@@team_honnasI’m so grateful you replied!! I watched the video thanks for sending link. I have been on a roll a coaster and not knowing what to take. I see you sell a book (diet) is it also the supplements you took. I thought I am supposed to stay away from milk but in this video your recipe has it. I’m very confused. Is it something where you actually help each person? Please can you tell me how it works. I really need help. Please reply. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Has anyone here subscribed to Viome? And if so, how has it turned out for you? Thanks!
How long it took for you to heal with this diet plan ? Seems like 10 days will do 😂

I followed most of the same principles, but the protocol I followed was a bit different here and there. Definitely took longer than 10 days to get healthy haha

@@team_honnas why not take l reuteri tablets alone no need for yogurt ?
Why would you need something in your gut biome thats function is to break down something that you do not eat ? Adding something for the sake of adding it when there's no reason. You can thive off meat and there's plenty of choice, leave the plants for them.
Glutamine for sure has to go :) Eat naturally and fast. Meat then rest.
👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
I am a little confused Kenny. You achieved remission and you have no food restrictions, why are you now on a different protocol. Have you had a relapse? Are you trying this different food protocol just for the sake of it? I was more confident following your thoughts whenn you healed and did your last video. To me, it was like wow, this man is healed and he has gone back to the real world. But now you are back with a carnivore diet? I feel distressed now, and my hopes of healing dashed.

Hello, sorry for the confusion, no this is not the protocol I am following or followed. And no I have not had a relapse! The carnivore diet is a popular diet that many people with IBD have reported having success with. I think there are some good elements to the carnivore diet but that there are some things could be improved. This is just a protocol that I created to show how I would go about structuring a carnivore style diet for people who wanted to try this type of approach. I believe there are many ways to structure a gut microbiome optimizing approach, so I am showing how I think one could go about doing that in a carnivore/animal based way. Hope that clears things up!

Thanks Kenny, this clears it up. Your original protocol is very well explained and convincing and have encompassed it as part of my healing journey, with a few modifications to suit my own specific conditions; no UC or Crohn's. IBS, and leaky gut. Massive improvement following it, but without grains. Many thanks for the videos.
what can I do about diarrhea?

Zeolith capsules to gently clean the gut, avoid fiber and grains, animal based/carnivore diet when eating veg only cooked and small amounts but do not recommend. Little dairy when in acute diarrhea distress. And fasting. Refined Sugar (no fiber) is ok. Might take a few weeks but this helped me. Oh and drinking water and being active.
No, Vegan now and ots rocking way better for me,...👋💚👍
If you can’t tolerate vegetables it’s is a good sign that you shouldn’t take it. There is no research saying meat only microbiome isn’t necessary your best way to go.

glyphosate is a big culprit as well. It's in many things north Americans consume. I'm working on a documentary surrounding the use of it on the forests in British Columbia. It's used to kill deciduous trees in logging cutblocks so that pine tree mono crops can be planted without competition of unwanted trees. The glyphosate is killing the wild ungulates such as deer, moose and elk as well as destroying the delicately balanced ecosystem. The glyphosate also leaches into the streams and rivers and is carried into the cities where we eat, drink and live. I suspect it's why I have UC.. 30 years of eating GMO wheat that was doused in Glyphosate. Or at least I did have UC. After getting off my Pentasa for almost 3 years now and eating healthy I'm doing very well, no flairs.

Sorry to hear that, you can always skip over them if you’re not interested. Wishing you the best 👊🏻
There is a proper way of going about carnivore, by doing it as it will blow your mind why the world isn’t on it. Oh now I know why you do not recommend it. It can’t make you any money.
Or you could just eat meat and fat and be permanently disease free? Job done!
Yr kidding me. No vegan has those issues. You need to go back to school.
Meat is a killer
