I took my first cruise 2 years ago, and while I enjoyed it, it's nothing like what, I'm sure, it used to be. No more midnight buffets, just pizza. In fact, with the exception of that pizza and one night club being open till 2am, they do seem to go to a lot of trouble to basically shut down most of the ship by midnight. I tried walking out on the lido around 12:30am and it was nothing short of noisy because they were moving chairs around trying to clean the whole area. Crusing is a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but it caters a little too much sometimes to the older crowd and families now.
@alvexok5523
2 жыл бұрын
@@RedNekLvr22 I went on Royal Caribbean Monarch of the seas back in 1992 and they had the night club well into the a.m. with so many young party go-ers getting crazy, and then after the club shut down there was still partying and drinking going on on the top deck. I guess that's the kinda thing that cruise lines have sorta cracked down on now? Just to show more respect for the older guests onboard, I'm guessing.

Carnival seemed to target upper middle class White people in the 80s and 90s. Sometime in the 2000s, especially later 2000s to present day it attracted a lower socio-economic group from all races/ethnicities that gave it the "Wal-Mart" reputation.
@monkeyb1820

but I think it was always the most prominent 'mass market' line, but similar to flying, cruising was just a lot more expensive (in relative terms) 30+ years ago. So from what I see flying, amusement parks and similar have made the same transition as Carnival, where these things that used to be super expensive are a bit less so now, thus they attract a different crowd to some extent. But we've met nice people, even well-to-do doctors and similar on Carnival cruises.

Super-Liner for back then. By standers this would be a joke. This ship is about 47000 tons, today's Carnival Dream is about 130000 tons. I wonder back then, would believe that Carnival is as large of a company, as they are today. They own the Love boat ( Princess Cruise ), they own Holland American they even own the legendary Cunard Line for goodness sake. Carnival, when will you order a 200000 toner? Stop letting RCCL have all the fun. PS, as a teenager in 1995, my family and I, took a cruise on Carnival's Holiday. They actually playef this after playing acher's away, as they pull from the pier.

Wow That Some Classic Commercial Right There And Kathie Lee Gifford Was In Her 30s Or 40s Years Old At at The Time. Kathie Lee Gifford:''My Friends Can See Me Now.''
Notice how the cruise was not fucked up by everybody looking at their phones all the time back then. They didn't even have phones back then.
Ok, the Talent show on South Park suddenly makes sense.
Also, note how the captain of this Carnival Cruise Line bears an uncanny resemblance to Captain Steubing on The Love Boat, played by "Murray" from The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I remember being on one of these boats while they were filming the boat cut through the water. It was back in the early 90's, the water in the pool was going everywhere, it was hard to walk, people were half sick just for a few second clip of a boat going through the water.

While reading a bio of Johnny Carson's lawyer, the first job he did was break into Carson's second wife's secret apartment and found evidence that she had as a lover, Frank Gifford. Gifford was a football star in New York, and was an announcer on Monday Night Football when it was huge. I'm sure he went through tons of starlets.

Who is here because of American Dad?
Carnival seemed to target upper middle class White people in the 80s and 90s. Sometime in the 2000s, especially later 2000s to present day it attracted a lower socio-economic group from all races/ethnicities that gave it the "Wal-Mart" reputation.

but I think it was always the most prominent 'mass market' line, but similar to flying, cruising was just a lot more expensive (in relative terms) 30+ years ago.
