    it can get a lot more complicated rob. this is a basic wax that is relying on the Nuba to provide the performance. however the wax is not too dissimilar to a lot of waxes you can go and pay decent money for. And also the old school waxes are kind of nice in lots of ways. but in terms of durability and maintaining the hydrophobididity this wax is limited. When you start down the road of blending in other specialty chemicals it can get tricky in terms of the way you have to control temperatures for some components which you cannot exceed certain temps against others which you need to raise certain temps to disperse properly. Also the more things you add in the more considerations there are on performance and application factors etc.. specially when you start adding things which improve durability. you can make the wax unusable or hard to apply with some durability components. you can also make the wax like smeary with certain synthetic components you might add for gloss (not always though). It can start very simple but can get complicated and expensive quickly.

    If you use linseed oil, use raw oil rather than boiled oil: while the oil is (or at least was) boiled to speed up drying, typical boiled linseed oil contains dryers, which may not be food-safe.

    can have a go. could be a tricky subject if you start factoring in the kind of synthetic or various speciality "things" you can blend into a wax. but in terms of what each natural wax gives and how much you should look to use.. then this you can sort of talk about. the best way to discover this is do raw wax blends with just solvent so you can lay the waxes down on a test panel and look at what they give. I did this in one of the wax log videos i think but I tended to waffle too much so maybe a sort concise video on what each wax provides would be the way forward. Ive added it to the TO DO list of videos.. so it will get done i promise. just no sure when

I just bought a few Purple Naility towels though, I saw you ordered one as it was in the delivery bag on the bench. • @ForensicDetailing

    @ForensicDetailing

    6 жыл бұрын

    hey carson it should not do that.. I dont think thats ever happened to me. sounds like you have components in there that are seperating.. EG like oil and water dont mix and need emulsifers. a wax solvent oil blend does not need emulsifying. it might be possible you have not blended them togther enough. It might also be possible that the wax blend has too much solvent and oil so it OOZES like liquid out of the pours of the wax when you press it. so it could be a balancing issue, or it could be a product compatability issue, or could be as simple as needing more blending. very hard to say without kjnowing the method you are using and whats in it though buddy

The only thing I am doing different than you is that I can’t get my hands on the CarChem phase (I wish I could) because I’m in the USA. So I am using odorless mineral spirits which could be the problem. Also have you ever thought about making this type of wax in a spray form? Thought that’d be cool.

  • @ForensicDetailing

    @ForensicDetailing

    odourless mineral spirit. Its possible that could be the problem. so odourless mineral spirit could be a lot of different things. If you have bought like a solvent from a hardware store there could be some other things in that solvent blend. I would switch solvents. Try a pure odourless keresene (which I know is mineral spirits) but if you get that specific product its less likely to have other things in there.. I think the problem is with your solvent

    too lazy phil, too old as well.. no plans to sell a product range. Id be competing with expertise that my google chemistry degree and Chinese glossmeter would struggle to match. would also kill the channel in terms of reviewing products, just too much of a minefield to review, if your part of an industry you are critiquing (its enough of minefield already :) ) wax maybe because thats doable but not even sure about that really.

    Thank you for making this video it was very informing. I have a question though about polishes. I have a Harbor Freight polisher that performs in my opinion not that great I'm not seeing the results I want to and I always have swirls leftover even after I'm done compounding and polishing and I'm thinking about getting the griots garage da polisher is this a smart choice?

    your in the USA right ryan. your harbor freight machine is a 8mill throw DA right? what car are you working on and what pads and compounds are you using buddy? how old is the car as well and whats the mileage?

    Forensic Detailing Channel I believe doesn't 8mm throw it weighs 6 pounds. I'm in the US the car I'm working on is a Mercury Mariner 08 which is an SUV and the mileage is 112,840. I am using the Meguiars microfiber cutting pads with the warrior backing plate which I took off because another KZreadr said that is a bad backing plate. The compound and polish I use is Gyeon Quarts compound and polish and I do all the right procedures but I still am not getting the right results

    if the wax blend contains oil, does that mean that it will be sticky once you apply it? so it will never dry????

  • @ForensicDetailing

    @ForensicDetailing

    not sticky but greasy.. and yes too much oil stop or reduces the cure.. so even after say 30 minutes the finger swipe can fail and its "wet" still.. Too much oily can also make it doing buffer trail wipe marks/hologram type things.

    its just a simple sort of oily organic wax blend it wont last as long as a commercial wax.. its a bit like R222. will last like a month or something, we have done durability waxes though but they can be a bugger to apply.

    im not sure what that solvent is and how it behaves compares to phase.. Im sure you probably could use it with oil and wax.. but I dont fully understand it to be able to say definetivly or how you might need to re balance the recipe if you used that instead.. have a play. Im guessing it will work fine.

    hey billy I remember mate. you can just pledge on patreon and then delete the pledge after the first payment. this way you can also have a peek at the content we done so far. really trying to make it so the patreons want to stay. So gonna be doing loads more wax brews and and slowly send them out to all the patreons over time as we do them. my PP email is rover8200@hotmail.com but I feel more confortable with the patreon thing because I can give something back in return with the content.
