This song give the listeners the choice to decide how interpret the message. It can talk about masturbation, dancing on your own, going to events & having fun with completely strangers in that party, forgetting your ex, etc

She might be underated but she still has a huge fan base that loves her and all her amazing songs and Carly probably knows that too, that's why she keeps making good music and doesn't care about topping the charts or being liked by everyone. I met Carly Rae Jepsen a couple years ago too (her hair was black back then) from an appearance she made on ABC for Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan (which is now known as Kelly and Ryan) show in the morning in which she was scheduled to be there for an interview with them to promote her television movie Grease which was a remake of the one from 1978. I sat in the front row seat in the studio and after an hour and a half, she finally showed up and I stuck my arm out to her when she came out on stage and she touched me, and then I pulled her towards me briefly. It wasn't much, it was just that one little moment with her and that was it, it was on TV too but you can't see my face (just my arm when she touched me).

Can we all agree that Carly Rae Jepsen is criminally underrated?

I think this song is so pretty and the message it sets had great meaning cause the loneliness doesn't mean you can't find love for other things loving yourself isn't selfish it's a choice and loving others could have history of mistakes and being lonely is not my mistake it's your mistake for not loving me.

I was here when this song came out last November.

i didn't know her music but i am going to see her with a friend so i'm checking out and i am so overjoyed to see the comments on all these songs and interviews people seem to totally dig her and there's no snark or grossness, it's all just like hey yeah carly is awesome and we love her.
