That's a great review, and your english is getting way better! Thank you man! P.S: Overrated lens, way too expensive for what it delivers, i own a lot of 50mm 1.4 and there are many that are a lot better than this one, like Takumar 50mm 1.4 ori Porst 50mm 1.4 for example.

is it better than the modern ZE version at f1.4?

Question: How hard would it be to mod one of this lenses with more iris blades? Secondly, you've said that there are lenses that perform the same for half the price. Which lenses did you mean?

The CZ planar 50mm 1.7 is a prime example of a very sharp lens very close in performance to the 1.4 version at about half the price.

Always been interested in this lens. Can someone more knowledgeable confirm if this lens is somehow related to the Rollei hft 50millie?

Rollei version is better

i loved this video until the portion where you show the shots and footage collected with the Lens. Appling that lens flare animation was very distracting, I'm watching this review to see how the lens performs pre- software

i've never used nikon 50mm 1.4 so i can't compare

looks like yashica ml lens output. if you want cz quality for peanuts get yashica ml lens

I own this Lens since the early 90s, and i prefer it to any Super Takumar 50/1.4 Lens, the Lens Elements are not being made with Thorium. Zeiss is Zeiss, and i like it like that.

@@zakyabdellouche2525 Because, see it for yourself, the Contax Zeiss 50/1.7, or 50/1.4 MM! I use these & others for 3 Decades.

Just bought f1.8 Rollei version of Planar with Distagon 35mm 2.8, hope I'll not regret it :) Is 1.8 much different from 1.4?

I too thought it was high. Of course for a very clean copy, I could see $200 for sure.
