One Roll of Film with the Nikon F3 and a ZEISS Planar 50mm lens

This week I shoot something a little different. I take the Nikon. F3 for a spin. I shoot it with the Zeiss Planar 50m.m f/1.4 and Distagon 35mm f/2 lens. I ran a roll of Kodak pro Image 100 shot 1/3 stop over-exposed.
All I can say is...what an amazing camera!
Thanks for watching!

    Many people don't know the Nikon F3's main competitor which is the Canon New F-1. The Canon is vastly underrated and relatively unknown the film community while the Nikon F3 gets all the fame. It has nearly the same professional feature set and solid build as the Nikon F3. Maybe you can do a future comparison between the two one day.

    Um, the New F-1 doesn't even have AE lock or mirror lock up, so you could say that it's not really all that 'professional' compared to the F3.

    Would you say the M5 (with 35 f2) is more portable & discrete than say the F3? Is the F3 the heavier camera combined with its 35 lens?...

  • @MacShootsFilm

    @MacShootsFilm

    3 жыл бұрын

    What a great question! It is so close it is tough to call. The M5 is a touch heavier. I think the M5 is more discreet as it has a super quiet shutter, slim profile, the lens stays close to the body (making it look less like a giant camera someone is trying to snap pics of you with), All that being said, they're both almost identical in height and weight. With Zeiss glass the F3 is a formidable opponent to the Leica ecosystem.

  • @kalenderquantentunnel9411
    @kalenderquantentunnel94114 ай бұрын

    If your F3 burns batteries when just switched on, it needs fixing. But when putting it away and something pushes on the shutter-button in your bag it will also drain power, maybe it was that? Same with Leica M6 btw which you have to set on B to prevent this.

    FM3A all day. Faster shutter speed, easy to lock exposure with the button on the back of the frame, and a better meter readout in the fm3a over the f3.

    The F3 is robust but be careful about letting it hit something hard on the left side. There is a glass, donut shaped resistor that surrounds the film rewind and if you crack it the meter stops working. There really aren’t replacements for them aside from taking it from a parts camera.

    LCD screen leakage on the F3 is a problem? Try one of the first autofocussing Minoltas from mid 80's... there's a big LCD on the top, where you control your camera. Whiteout it, the camera is next to useless. And on almost every second copy I encountered in recent times the LCD is next to be dead...
