November 9th is Sagan Day, be sure to put your solar system mobiles on your porch and your "Window to the Universe" Hubble Deep Field plastic cling window decals in your windows. And have a Sciencey Sagan Day!

This was decades ago, and we still have not found a signal sent to us on radio from another civilization. My theory is that using radio for this purpose simply is not the way it is done. Humans in this stage of development love radio, since it is still a new and exciting thing to us.

But keep in mind that we've never been able to scan all parts of the sky, at all frequencies, at all times. That's what makes this new era of SETI so exciting: it's becoming more possible to achieve this.

Agreed, There have been times where I've often thought that Carl Sagan, was an actually Alien himself, come to earth in an attempt to educate the Human Race for that day we meet another Race,... of course I don't believe it, though it is aa thought provoking thought.

"as far as we know, it is typical..." lol @ the confidence he has... the odds of abiogenesis are so low, that current scientific opinion says it is most likely that we are the only intelligent life in this galaxy... SETI is a waste of time and money.

"Low odds" Have never stopped humans before us. Or before Sagan or yourself. Low odds are exactly where we come from. Yet here we are.

SETI is just fiction. Read the book Rare Earth, by Peter Ward.
