I know it is another looonnnggg video, but I could not cut out some of the details, and I wanted to make sure I recorded as much info as possible. Thanks for watching!
Here is a link to my friend's channel. He has some great details on the carburetor and also repainting his Metropolitan. I highly recommend taking a look at his channel, so that you can further familiarize yourself with this process: / lorddarthvader1701

Man THANKYOU for the detailed video. My 05 metro is my first moped and I was very apprehensive to pull the carb and clean the jets when I found out it was problem. I was able to do the job in less than 2 hours and she fired right up! Again THANKYOU!!!!!
Thanks for the thorough video. Wife's metropolitan that hasn't been running for 3 years has been resurrected with you're comprehensive video !
It amazed me that I was lucky enough to find the very video of the problem I was having - AND, it was the exact same scooter, AND the exact same year - much appreciated - just took a spin around the block on something that I couldn’t get running for over a year - I guess I’m going to have to renew the tags now - whoop whoop!
No problem, it was my pleasure to post a shout out, after all, folks are looking our videos up for help, so anything we can do to get them as much info as possible always helps. Plus I am pretty darn proud of how well that paint job turned out, well done! Have a happy and safe 4th!

Hi, I received a used metropolitan scooter from my kids for mother's day. I'm looking to find a double seater, so my daughter and i can ride together and a carrier / luggage box. Can u point me in the right direction? Thank you so much
This is fantastic. Thank you for doing this. Terrific service to metro owners everywhere. I hope you know how much this is appreciated
Awesome video! I have never worked on a carburetor before and decided I could do it after watching your video. My scooter wouldn't start at all, but after doing this whole job, just like you did, it now runs better than when it was new. Thanks so much!
Thank you for being so generous with your time and expertise! I followed 3 of your videos to tear down my scooter and clean the Carb. I got everything back together and the scooter ran better but still acted very cold Blooded. I followed your instructions on how to re-program the ECM and it works like new! Thanks!
Thank you TheTexasCoder very much for making this video. Everything was clear. This was my first carb rebuild and I got great satisfaction from working to your instruction and getting the scooter running again. Anyone need a full can of barely used Chem-Dip?
Thanks for this exercise. I overhauled my 2004 Metro scooter's carb, referred back to this video three or four times. Everything worked beautifully when repairs were completed, save a bundle on parts. Thanks again for the concise narrative.
Nice job and thanks. Very detailed and no steps missed. Thanks for taking the time!
THANK YOU. With your help, I can now clean a carburettor (Brits have a second t there) no problem. I have a Honda SFX scooter from -98. It was similar enough. My very old tractor (-50's?) is now also running smoothly. All the best to you and really appreciate the un-edited video.
This video was so helpful. Saved me a trip to the shop and I’d never done anything like this before but the detail helped me to feel confident. DX, clogged jet.
Oh and the fellow who complained about you not editing this down: totally disagree. It was very helpful to see about how long the process takes. (For the fellow: maybe you could do a video showing him how to slide the video forward and back at whatever speed he wants?)
For the "D" shaped pilot jet screw that is supposed to require a "special" Honda tool, I just took a plastic pen and heated it up until it started to melt. I jammed it onto the D shaped screw end until it cooled and formed the right shape, and then I carefully unscrewed it. I'm sure there are a ton of ways to get that thing out, but this was just a particularly easy way that I figured would do the trick.
Thanks for the great tutorial. Cleaned mine without the dip process and stared and ran great. Previously it stalked
great video love the helpers commentary. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. You helped me identify a part on my carb that I didn't know the function of.
Thank you sir for the shout out. keep them great video's a coming, have a nice 4th of July too sir.
Fantastic video. My wife's '09 Met has been really hard to get started. Thought it might've been a clogged jet, so decided to clean the carb. The video helped me get it done easily. Unfortunately it didn't help. I guess my next step is a valve adjustment. But it's nice to know the carb is clean.
Thank you, this video helped me immensely.
Thank you sir! I almost called you (I'm in Denton), I fought it all day Saturday and still no go, so Sunday, I was all in..tearing it down and cleaning....it's was either going to run, or it was getting towed out to your shop :)
I thank you for this video it helped answer my question for Finding out if there was a drain line on that carburetor
Meant to mention excellent demo on the tool usage, I found those little clamps for the fuel line were a little trick...I didn't go to the point of having to reset anything, too chicken, was glad the darn thing worked after I was done.
good video. noticed questions about ECM. You did that briefly and explained it but didn't do the switch in real time (1:18:35) with the explanation. thanks for taking the time to go thru things step by step.
sir you did and excellent job.
About to use this, I got my metro 2 years ago, seemed to run ok but within two times of riding it, it was running like crap. It quickly got to a point where I was worried it would leave me stranded because it kept dying on me when I'd first start it. So its been sitting here. Now I need to work on my car and I HAVE to have transportation sooo....metro is getting fixed first, haha.
Thank you sir! LOL, yea those clamps are something else, and there was a couple that fought me. This little scooters are pretty tough and are alot of fun to ride.
good job Sr.
This was so helpful...
Thanks so much for this video. It's really, really helpful.
Well done. Now I'll get to work on the scooter.
You had me yelling thru the phone about the spring haha

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I am in the middle of replacing my fuel line that connects the fuel pump to the carb in my Honda metropolitan and noticed a hose coming from the air intake that makes its way around the carb but isn't attached to anything. Do you know if by chance this should be connected to anything? It is approx. a 1/2" in diameter and the end is cut at an angle.
Thanx so much great job!!
Plus the diagram Did help a lot!
The video was excellent. I'm having trouble reseting the ECU, I've followed the directions on the video, the headlamp blinks then turns on for about 20 seconds then turns off. I connected the jump wire to a blue and white wire by the fuses. Any suggestions?
Super helpful, watched multiple times and have eeryting back in place...but now I've got a click click on the restart; I went to your 6ya to see about ideas for that but it said unavailable -- seeing if this might be way to get in touch? thank you!
Damn I wish all my screws came out that easy! haha
I've got to say that I learned a lot about cleaning a carburetor today as well as your love for you little helper . But my problem is my carb and starter. If you email me back on this problem I have a brain buster question for ya
make sure if you clean the inside jets on the carburetor that the smaller one, its a tube with a series of small holes like a flute. Its hollow too and it needs to be cleaned inside through the center, that is through the center...use a jet wire cleaner, all will be well
Great video, very helpful but I too don't understand the part about resetting the throttle sensor.
Hi, the website where you purchased the parts no longer exist. Are you able to list out what you had to purchase please?
my 04 has 9000 miles and the carbs never been off. UNTIL it sat for 1.5years in our Florida side yard. did the tank yesterday. I run carb cleaner in all gas to avoid deposits -- and now that gas is sitting so long i need to do this...
When resetting the ECM , how long does it take for the headlight to light up again after removing the wire ? Tried this a half dozen times and the light never comes back on after turning off. After about 15 seconds , the fuel pump kicks in for a few clicks then goes off.
do i have to changemy jets out for the cold weather and im up in colorado bc i was told to up the jets in the winter but then told dont need to what do u think and is the gy6 swap a good idea?

Did you post the link to where you ordered the parts? Got my carb off of my Ruck, ready to do this, but didn't know I needed to order these first. Thanks.

nevermind, bikebandit.com, duh... Oh, and the price now for the new float and pin is $35 before shipping. I've heard of inflation, but jeeeeeez.
Question about the jets -- There is the main jet, and the slow jet, but there is another brass piece that seems to be fixed to the carburetor. At 55 mins in the video, it would be the one closest to the camera. It's really hard to tell if this has been cleaned properly because (1) you can't see daylight through it because the other side comes out after a series of bends and what not (2) the hole in it seems to be extremely tiny. Do you know what this piece is?
Excellent video; make more and I'll watch only criticism at the very end on resetting the ecu what isn't explained is what lead wire? what is it attached to? it looks like you have a positive power source on clipped on the battery. Is this a charger?

If you look for a wire (blue and white) w/ a female clip/plug end located in the battery compartment on the pos. side by the fuses. It's not plugged into anything. He is connecting a "hot" lead wire from the pos. side of your battery into this Blue/white clip/plug end. While connected turn the key to "on" position.
What did you soak the needle jets in? Mine are gummed up and I'd like to try cleaning them instead of replacing.
if your in gasohol the float needle is a good item to replace. the rubber tip gets funky. I would replace the float needle before changing the float or at the same time... E10 is murder to carbs.
hey man can you tell me if you no my problem my moped ran fine now it only starts on the stand but the minute I take it off the stand it stalls out im thinking a carb problem it revs out fine and all when I first got it it ran fine also get back thanks
Hey does anyone know how to reset the throttle sensor? He said he'd show us but must of forgot. This video helped start my carb but it's having idle problems so I really just want to try and reset the ecu or whatever it's called and I'd like to know how. I can't find any information on the matter.

I have a 2002 Metropolitan and I was going to try to get it running again, the last time it ran was probably 2003-2004. nothing was wrong with it at that time. it was bought as a toy for my sister. she put 39 miles on it and it's been in a garage ever since. I was planning on buying a new battery, changing the oil, clean the carburetor, and drain the old gas and put new in. since it never ran that much anyway do I need to replace the parts in the carburetor? this is the first engine I've ever really worked on so I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of proper maintenance.

Do yourself a favor and swap out the carb for a replacement from Amazon. Easy swap, like $40. done. a re-build kit is like $20.swap out the fuel pump and filter and new check valve.Drain old fuel and your off to the races.
after you take the carb out of chem-dip at 50:33, when you say "washed the parts off", you mean rinsing the parts through clear water? i am curious, wouldn't be more safe to clean, from chem-dip, the parts dry with acetone as for any mechanical tools? i would be scared to start the process of rust or something with water (?)...
@TheTexasCoder
10 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right, any cleaning fluid can be used. The important part is to clean the chem-dip off the part(s). If you used water, as I did, you should definitely blow the water off with compressed air or dry it thoroughly with a towel. Thanks for the question and for watching!
My scooter was seat for 10 years it only have 86 miles on it but no start Please help!!! Clean oil ,spark plug is clean new battery ????
thx so much
can you show me how to reset the ecu
i have a 2003 honda metropolitan and it seems to out run its fuel delivery at full when at full throttle for more than 4 mins. will shutter and then coast to stop and idle but if you give it throttle it will die. once it idles for like a min goes back to normal and you can drive away. any ideas what could cause this?

it could be some gunk in filter or gas cap not getting air.if nothing works clean out carburetor.as in youtube video.

@@jimbauer261 what is the best way to clean the gas cap? mine was rusted w/ old gas in the tank. I removed and drained the tank and filled w/ vinegar and put cap back on so the bottom part where rusted would soak in vinegar as well.
I just receive a metropolitan 06 brand new with 86 mile been seat for 10 years I change the battery ,fuel tank, filter, fuel pump and still not start it start but then shut off after that not running I just bought a new carburetor ready to install any ideas ?? did you change new check valve?
when I key on the ignition I hear a click - click -click. - click from the pump. Does that mean the pump has failed or locked up. not getting gas in the carb, new filter, line, and cleaned tank...

2006 met. It idols fine but when i accelerate it stalls. tried cleaning the carb but same problem. I did not change the float, How do you know if the float is bad? Also I could not get the Dshape screw out (no tool). finally I could not tell if the slow jet is clear. I could not see daylight. I tried sticking a pin in it but it was too big. Should I go back and start over or take it in to the dealer.

Just get new jets cause even if you clean them the venturi shape of the jet is not the same curve shape as new is and doesn't work as well. Also replace the rubber diaphragm on top of the carb as this is the accelerator circuit set up and any leak means stumble off idle.
I have not watched this yet, and I feel like maybe this is a stupid question, but would it be the same for the carburetor from a 2009 met?
@sdhemmy1
Жыл бұрын
yes, the 2009 is the exact same.
You were to quick with the reset of cpu. Why does it need to be reset? Just unhooking the wires should be no different than shutting off power?
what if we don't have a blue and why guy?
why do you have wire clips (red and black) attach to your battery? is this something concerning the reset of the ECU or it is only because you were recharging your battery? sorry i have a language barrier so i am afraid of missing something out. that is a 1:19:35 worth watching video.

Good question and good eye! I have those clips there to keep the battery charged during storage. I also left them connected while resetting the ECM so the battery would be at full charge during the reset. Thanks again for watching!
