As a mechanic I can tell you the green fuzz of death (corrosion) is next to impossible to combat without replacing parts .

These early episodes are really good. No nonsense, just straight myth-busting.

Agreed even though I love the later episodes too. I love how Jamie is more fun and playful in the earlier episodes too.

In Sweden there is actually a law about selling cars that smell of death. They have to be advertised with "Death smell".

Love these early episodes with Adam and Jamie with the smaller scale production. More crazyness, less graphics, filmlocation and robot gizmo value 😊

You know, i think i like looking through the comments on these as much as wstching the show. Its like seeing old friends again in a way, knowing we're all still just as happy to be here as we were to catch the show on tv. I hope you guys are all doing okay

I suspect the start of the pig experiment was during the "Do piercings attract lightning" myth too, since it seems like at one point Adam's talking a bit funny as though he's getting used to a tongue piercing

Rewatching early MB's I just realized how the world has changed in just two decades. we don't tell bizarre stories to each other anymore. Because back then it was really hard to verify their validity. Today? Link or didn't happen. You could just look at archives of local newspapers within minutes, while you wait for your morning coffee.

15:20 “He flies about 200 feet right over the house, and falls, and manages get up relatively unharmed.” That is unequivocally ludicrous and absolutely absurd.

Mythbusters was my favorite show, so nice that alot of episodes are on KZread now. 😁👍 Imagine if this was an KZread show, would be like 5 x40min episodes to get ONE myth done.

i had to clean a fridge at my grandparent house that stayed like 1 year without power and was full of frozen product and meat. i think i might know at least a little bit how that car smells like...

great episode . the stinky car myth hit home for my family . only because my parents own a towing / auto body shop . an they told me that once something like that gets into the upholstery an floor carpet or even the roof the smell is nearly imposable to get out

Ya you have to be fairly careful to really wrap up in heavy plastic any bodies you plan to be moving in your car.

I’ve always thought this episode was a shame. That is a horrible waste of a really nice car. I mean, it doesn’t HAVE to be a really nice car does it????

The infographic at 26:00 is hilarious. That's not how a sabot, or a cartridge works. The sabot goes around the projectile, not the casing, and the casing doesn't travel down the barrel and fall away like a rocket booster. lol Love Mythbusters, though.

I loved the Cannon! On an episode of CSI the team tried to figure out how a racoon got shot out of a " cannon".

Well, now I've finally seen this infamous episode, and I don't think I need to see it again. 🤢

It took me a almost a full minute to realize the narrator was trying to say "say-bow" (sabot).🤣

Decaying flesh has a very distinctive smell…one that I’ve been unfortunate enough to smell more than once. It’s a smell we are programmed to be disgusted by, and wow is it a disgusting smell.

The whole pig buying deal reminded me exactly of buying drugs. Lmao.

I once put a 36 hour dead raccoon in my trunk wrapped in 3 sealed trash bags. @ 40 mph with all the windows down I could taste it from the front seat. I worked for a disaster outfit so I threw the raccoon in the biohazard dumpster and the guys on the cleanup side hooked me up with that enzymatic cleaner. There is no smell like death. None.

People who have died are said to be the worst smell, even worse than handling dead animals, and I have handled sadly dead animals - namely our cat Link.

This was one of the first episodes of Mythbusters I saw, back when it was still on Netflix, which should tell you how bloody long ago that was.

I feel like they went overboard on the car myth and still busted it. First of all, the myth just says a guy died in there. They used two pigs which is more than just one guy, plus they sealed it and put it in a shipping container. It defeats the spirit of the myth. If this happened naturally, the car would not have been sealed, thus much of the scent would have escaped. They ramped the myth up to 1000 which should have made it plausible at least and not busted

my dad owns that exact same corvette, and i can honestly say, that thing is so uncomfortable to sit in or get in and out of, you already couldn't pay me enough to waste my time on it, even if it smelled like freshly baked cinnamon rolls. talk about piss poor engineering. the seat is 6 inches lower than the door sills and the door sills have electronic controls you literally have to sit on to get in and out of the car.

That little tree was fighting for its god damm life 😂

I just noticed this episode, and probably the whole season, looks like it was recorded before Mythbusters was aired on television. Like in; Fun 1st and Safety 2nd 😆 Kinda miss those times where, if you didn't harm other people or property, you could get away with basically everything. ☺ (also with my hobby in mind) Can anyone confirm?

Okay, I love this episode, but the verdict still confuses me. The myth says that a car with a corpse festering would be impossible to get the smell out of, which was true as not even the crime scene clean-up crew could. Shouldn't the myth be confirmed? The myth never says that the car isn't sold, only that whoever buys it has to deal with the smell. I feel like they forgot what the myth was about. They say it's busted because they couldn't clean it, even though the myth says that they wouldn't. I just kinda feel crazy cause it felt like they confirmed it, but are so adamant that it's busted.

So really the only thing they tested was how gross of a buyer they could find.

I think the mistake they made was a dead human is going to be fully clothed including shoes.......they should have wrapped the pigs in fabric of some sort to simulate clothing......probably would have made a big difference.

I wonder if an ozone generator or something could’ve finished off that smell. Were those even a thing in the early-mid 00’s?

As far as I know all cars will illuminate the brake lights irrespective of the key position. This is some regulation that the brake lights must illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed in all circumstances. I've owned many cars and they all did this. Even when locked via remote.

Any car will turn on brake lights once you press the brake pad, regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not.

I smelled that, too. But it's the things that don't smell (as much) that worry me. One day I forgot to do the smell test on an already open glass of raw Sauerkraut. It tastes nice when fresh, but that one was rotten... the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted!!

Adam and Jamie were on BattleBots as well. It's possible he recognized them from that. It's also possible the introductions involved pictures or video when they were disclosing the stuff about the show. But you're right it is odd to hear that from a show that essentially hasn't been aired yet.

The point of the myth was it was a very desirable car, and would people want it bad enough to get past the smell.

Launching out of a tube like is never going to happen without a seal. Whatever gas expansion that's happening down that tube is just going to go around the body.

I know Adam and Jamie have said multiple times that they wont be working together in the future but i still have some hope. 1 last season or Mythbuster project, even if its a decade from now.

They had some really shity cameramen 😂

@@Okurka.regardless of the vehicle, it was going to become a biohazard. At that point, whether or not you can sell it is basically irrelevant, because a) you won’t, and b) even if you did clean the car and get it put back together, the amount of components that would have been permanently rendered unusable in the process would essentially make the vehicle good for spare parts and nothing else. I have always loved this show, but was very much not a fan of this experiment.

As far as the show goes all she does is verify that the urban myths their testing are actual myths that have been going around. I don't question the team for consulting her, but giving her even a minute of screen time was unnecessary.

Human beings are extremely sensitive to decomposing animals. It makes sense. While we were involving, eating something past its prime could end up in an early death. As result, we evolved to hate such smells. Interesting yet obvious, flies are the exact opposite. They love decomposing smells and seem to hate what we consider to be "clean/sterile smells" as there's no food there.
