  • @fracturedraptor7846
    @fracturedraptor78464 жыл бұрын

    The key to controlling your vehicle during slippage is to ignore the brake. Immediately let go of the gas and use small steering increments to correct the car's direction, turning the wheel too much will make the slippage worse. In low speed cases this works because the vehicle's weight eventually pushes the tires through to pavement. Or the weight creates enough traction to control the vehicle enough to let it come to a stop on its own without sliding all over the place. At higher speeds it's near impossible to control. Which is why I go slow as fuck whenever the weather/roads are bad. It's far easier to control a vehicle then.

    Crashed my mom's car into a tree when I was just 17 years old. I was going too fast, started skidding went from one side of the road to the other. On the left of me was nothing but big piles of snow. On the right, a huge row of great big trees. When I was sliding to the left my basic instinct was to get back on my side of the road right? Luckily, there wasn't any traffic coming towards me, but I started to slide to the right again and BAM! right into one of the big trees. I got bounced around a bit, hit my head on the dash & windshield (there were no mandatory seatbelt laws at the time) but otherwise OK. The car though...I don't think the passenger side headlight is supposed to be located anywhere near the passenger side door handle is it? That was 54 years ago. I've given snow & ice a wide berth since then. One other aside, the song playing on the radio at the time of the accident? 'Kind of a Drag' by the Buckinghams, yeah, a real drag for sure!

    A couple of those situations looked unavoidable because of the very slippery conditions on a steep hill. The only way to have avoided it was not to travel on it in the first place until all the plows did their thing. I live in Pennsylvania and they're really good about salting and plowing the roads during a bad weather event. I'm thinking that in the one very icy video where all the cars were sliding down the hill and hitting each other the temperature was probably below 15. It's just a guess on my part though. I traveled through a couple snow storms this year where the snow wasn't really that deep but could definitely be problematic. I took my time and had really good tires with a 4 wheel drive. I know that you normally get around better with 4 wheel drive but as far as stopping goes, it's no different than any other car. If you're going to slide, you're going to slide. If the tires are bad on your car replace them before treacherous weather. Sometimes it's easier said than done with the price of tires anymore. The days of four $100 tires is over. I feel bad for everyone that either got hurt or totaled their car.

    In Russia vast majority of people drive in snow every winter their entire life. Seems like... They must have enormous amount of experience in driving in such snow. Therefore, there shall be very little of accidents in such weather conditions. But in reality, thoughts like "I drive in snow all my life. I am very experienced in this shit" give them too much self confidence and they start thinking that they can be above physical laws and it results in crashes. Completely opposite effect

    A lot of times out here in MN the plows will push snow off of one lane with out dropping salt. This leave a nice polished lane of ice. So I'll drive in the 4 or 5 inches of snow in the unplowed lane. There there is always some idiot that thinks they can now drive at 70mph on the plowed side and I almost always find them upside down under a bridge at the next curve in the road.

    Every vehicle on this post had brakes. The brakes also worked fine. But to stop a vehicle and for the brakes to be effective you require friction to the road surface. Ice and snow lowers that coefficient significantly. The stupid factor also is a related to poor driving and or stopping ability.

    в большинстве случаев там аварии от того .что они привыкли что дорога всегда должна быть хорошая и без препятствий. и когда что то не по плану. то получается нехилый замес. а у нас аварии в большинстве от осознанного и целенаправленного нарушения пдд и просто хамского отношения к другим учасникам движения. хотя везде есть дураки и нормальные люди. и даже в ** Рашке**)))
