Capturing the kings of the abyss - Part 1 | SLICE

Madi and Sudjail aren't ordinary fishermen. On the island of Mayotte, they are considered “Fundi Shark”, literally: masters of shark fishing. While Madi fishes on a canoe using ancestral island traditions, Sudjail is better equipped, with a motor boat and large chains to capture the heaviest sharks.
Usually, sharks bite at night. But today it's different. The movement of a buoy alert Sudjail in the middle of the afternoon. What did he catch?

I heard "Fundi" and thought; yap that's Swahili alright. Then heard Comoros, and was taken a back. I love Swahili, it's actually the national language of East Africa and Comoros islands

It's so sad that they do that to the shark, if they must do that, it wouldn't take 2 seconds to actually kill the shark by putting a sharp knife straight through the brain, not just throw the shark back into the water to drown a harrowing and painful death, wouldn't people think they had enough pain cutting their fins off HOW DEEPLY SADDENING FOR THOSE SHARKS!!!

@@rebbeccakelly2038 but they don’t do that though… at least not in this video. Looks like they’re taking it back to shore to process as much of the carcass as possible

It should be a crime to fish for shark. They are a necessary apex predator in the oceans that humans have foolishly taunted, interfered with and exploited.
