Word of warning: "The Wizard of Ahhhs" is an homage to the original movie, _"The Wizard of Oz,"_ starring Judy Garland. If you've never seen the movie, "The Wizard of Ahhhs" won't make any sense, so take care of that first. If you've seen "Wicked," good for you, but that alone isn't enough to make sense of "The Wizard of Ahhhs."

Great reaction! Kirstie sounds spectacular in "Shallow" and is pretty much the lead in The Wizard of Ahhhs which is a collaboration with Todrick Hall from wayyyyy back when were very young and a relatively new group. It's a fun production that reminds me a little of a broadway musical. Whatever you choose you won't be disappointed.

The thing I have most enjoyed about this one is the high-end sing-off between Mitch and Kirstie. I have also enjoyed the fact that it seemed that the higher Mitch would go, the deeper Avi would go. Well, they continued that here with Matt doing the deep slide to provide contrast and counterpoint to Mitch and Kirstie sliding up the stairs to the heavens.

A few songs where Kirsty leads are My Favorite Things, Love Me When I Don't, Rather Be, Say Something .

"Be My Eyes" is a great song with Kirsten.

Love that song!

Mitch is a counter-tenor and has a 6 octave range. Scott is a baritone and often covers bass when Matt (previously Avi) is singing a melody line. Mitch, Scott and Kirsten all went to high school together and sang as a trio. They added Avi and Kevin when they had to have at least 5 people for the Sing-Off. Kevin was found on the internet playing cello and beatboxing at the same time. He was in medical school at Yale and he is also a tenor

Kirstie is showcased amazingly in their version of Say Something. It's one of my many faves ❤

As mentioned by others: Say Something, Shallow, Be My Eyes, Water, Rather Be, Favorite Things, Seasons of Love, Wizard of Ahhs, Amazing Grace, (and others), are all songs that either wonderfully feature, or are lead by Kirstie. The group always tries to arrange things such that who is the lead for which section is just whichever person's voice works best for the song at that point. They all eventually get moments in the lead, just gotta keep going down the PTX rabbit hole :)

"Amazing Grace" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" have powerful Kirstie segments. And a fun video is the collaboration with Todrick Hall in "The Wizard of Ahhhs".

I think the background of winter snow and chill is right on for this song. It gives the emotion of calmness and serenity and almost a bit of darkness of the heart as do the lyrics. You will notice as the song goes on the background changes to a more golden tone and warms up the ambiance as if God was responding to their "prayer" and that follows right along with the lyrics and the vocal warmth. It's an appropriate and profound reaction and really makes this video a stunning piece of work.

You have to see My Favorite Things, bring a pillow for your jaw when it hits the floor. Kirstie is a darker version of Julie Andrews, and she changes her look completely. You might even wonder if she’s a new member of the band.

In my opinion this is definitely the best cover of this song, Mitch and Scott voices blend so well together and they should have won a Grammy for this song; None of the Evolution mixes are on Spotify!

Loved to watch you love this song as much as we do. The song was released on a Christmas album, hence the snowy set. There’s a BTS vid for this video if you want to see more. Kirstie must see’s: Seasons of Love, Say Something, Amazing Grace, Shallow, Water (og), Rather Be. If you’re up for a longer reaction, PTX did a short, four song set in Japan a while back. MTV produced it so the audio is great. They do three originals (including Water led by Kirstie) and a Michael Jackson medley. It’s a must watch imho.

Scott really has the biggest range of them all: he can take over the bass, if necessary (like in Hallelujah, when Avi has his solo) and can go extremely high (like in the end of this song or in „Coffee in bed“)!

Mitch Grassi - voice spans 6 octaves and 1 tone, from A1 to B7. Scott Hoying - Vocal Range (G♯1 - G♯5) is considered fairly standard four octaves but he rather has incredible control over his voice.

A beautiful song featuring Kirstin that not to many people have heard is Show "Yourself". It's a Disney Princess song. She is backed-up by "Voctave". They are Disney singers and are great in this just as Kirstin is. The song is on Voctave's "Broadway & Main album #2. This isn't too old and it might be her best singing yet. Enjoy !

The first time I heard "The Prayer" was a clip from Britain's Got Talent by Johnathon and Charlotte.

If you're looking for PTX songs that feature Kirstie a bit more, several that I could recommend: "Rather Be", "Say Something", "Be My Eyes" where she's the clear lead vocalist (she also wrote "Be My Eyes", a PTX Original). "Shallow", 'Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)", "Come Along", "Do You Feel the Love Tonight", "Seasons of Love" where she is prominently featured. Another great one is "Water" (also a Kirstie-written PTX original), but there's no "Official video" for it. The best version with a video is from their live "Popspring" performance.

I vote Rather Be too! Not many reactors do it and it's amazing with Kirstie taking the lead!

Along with perfect pitch, Scott Hoying has a five-octave range that allows him to be the keystone baritone as well as backing the bass harmony when the bass singer takes the melody line.

I got you what you meant about Kirsten showing more of her power voice. If you really want to hear it. Listen to their version of " Amazing Grace ".......She will blow the head phones off you heads. She goes head to head with Mitch in the song. The 2 of them together is outstanding....

Kirstie is the featured singer of "Disney Love Medley" by Voctave, one of the best a capella groups on the planet. Pretty sure you'd enjoy their work.

Two songs that come to mind featuring Kirsty is Say Something and an original she wrote called Be My Eyes

When they hit that Wall of Sound moment when the sun comes out it sounds almost like a pipe organ. They are just unmatched vocally.

Scott also does the bass whenever Matt has a lead part. That is why he has a deeper tone

Scott is the back up bass when the main bass is singing lead. So the range is there.

I love Kirstie's vocals on the original song, It's Different Now, on their cd The Lucky Ones. Any song on that cd is fire in my opinion.

Wait til Christmas! We have lots of suggestions! There is one on this last years album, not really Christmas but it is Epic, Kiss From A Rose, rendition of a song of Seal's.There is an instrument, an electric cello. If they use an instrument you will see it. There are a few songs that they play an instument in. Kevin is a musical genius. Played cello and sax at Carnegie Hall in his younger days, like 8 or 9 and again in 2005 at 17. He speaks Mandarin, was pre-med when he did a YT video and Scott called him to see if he wanted to join the group. He did! He flew out to Calif. to meet with the new 'Pentatonix', for an audition on the Sing off competition show. Lots to learn about Kevin Olusola!`~ That was an awesome reaction!~ I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to more!

Hey you two I love PTX. They did great job with this performance. Let me tell you a story about 2 young Ladies Lucy and Martha Thomas ages 19 and 13 respectively. They hail from northern UK. They are the best I and many, many other people say they have the best cover of this song. On two occasions I have seen them voted best over PTX. Just give them a listen at @lucythomasmusic. Lucy has over 60 recording with over 100 million views. Vocal critics say Lucy has the absolute best voice control, pitch, chest to head voice control of any artist alive today. Anyway their recording “The Prayer” is mesmerizing.

Check out thier Daft Punk Medley, they won a Grammy for it and they shot it in a closet with a budget of $400. So awesome.

Kirstie can certainly sing high enough for this (Pentatonix aren't certain whether she sings higher than Mitch or vice versa) but Mitch does those ethereal vocals better. This was a set, and whoever designed it isn't being paid enough, no matter what s/he gets. The snowy landscape was because this song was featured on their 2021 Christmas album, _"Evergreen."_

Hey 😊 if you read comments from older posts ... more PTX Please! I think you would love their cover of "Radioactive". It's a collaboration with Lindsey Sterling, a violinist/dancer. It's also one of the few videos that uses actual instruments, Lindsey on violin and Kevin on cello. But Kevin doesn't just play the cello he invented what he calls cello-boxing! He beat boxes while playing cello at the same time!! 🤯😅 a viral video of Kevin doing that is how the group found him. ❤😃 Kirsten doesn't have a big lead but as others in the comments have given you several good ideas. Most of the PTX family saw this as another possible Grammy but it was released to late....but they did get a nom for Evergreen though...

a lot of the time, in songs where each person takes a solo, Kirsten sings the final verse because it's her soprano tones that soar to the climax. Mitch sometimes takes that position as his tones soar, too. When Scott sings the final verse, it brings the song down into a softer finale, as in Sound of Silence. Each time the arrangement is obviously meticulously thought out for maximum effect and interpretation. It's no wonder they do so well.

There are several "slaps" in this video. Someone a little familiar with PTX probably expects Kirstie to sing Celine's part, but nope - out comes Mitch, and he does a fantastic job of it! Then comes Scott in his lower register, and singing in Italian to boot! Another is towards the end, where Mitch and Kirstie do their call-and-echo, belting all the way! And then at the very end, when Mitch finishes off on those soaring high notes. The Pentaholics were really hoping for a 4th Grammy for this song, but it wasn't nominated on its own - the album Evergreen that it is on was nominated, but didn't win. 😩
