Capture One Pro Tutorials | Wireless Tethering for Canon

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In Capture One 22, you can tether several Canon cameras over a wireless network, or even via a network cable.
In this tutorial we will show you how to setup for the Canon R5 and optionally with the WFT-R10B grip.
Tethered functionality is identical to tethering over USB. With Wireless Tethering you need one less cable on set, making for a new and much more dynamic tethered shooting experience.

    Are there any plans on supporting 6D Mark II, and if so, will I get the updated camera support if buying a standalone license? Assuming of course that said update would be in C1 v22. Note that I've tried connecting it to the trial version and it didn't work, doesn't show up in the Camera section. Works fine if I use EOS Utility.

    So this is not a lot different to already existing Wifi solutions like Camfi does. I was really hoping for something fast as the camera shoots bursts of 10fps, wifi just cant keep up. USB-C tethering barely keeps up. A better solution (as an option ) would be to let Capture one accept the canon jpegs as the previews and have a proxy workflow, then down load cards later with the raws -pairing the raws and the previews when in Capture one. Not everyone shoots flower in a vase, theres sports and lifestyle that need this speed. On a different note, I was also hoping Capture One would answer a big problem with professional shooting right now with a solution for remote online sharing of shoots as they happen, many shoots now cant have client at and this is an important feature. At the moment we are using screen sharing apps, but its got to be a really easy for Capture one to add some reliable version of capture pilot that can be shared securely online. Look at what frame IO is doing.

  • @RaicoRosenberg

    @RaicoRosenberg

    Used capture pilot the other day and it was so unreliable 😓 FrameIO should integrate C1. Teradek should be able to make something fast on wireless.. their bolt 4k can do 4:2:2 10 bits, should be enough bandwidth for RAW files

    @@RaicoRosenberg The last couple of times we used one computer to tether to and share the screen top a second computer to run zoom on. This way the zoom computer can go back and forward to screen sharing the shoot computer to communications with the art director without getting in the way of the shoot. but there has to be a better way. The client last time really wanted a web based (and secure) way of viewing, reviewing and tagging shots as they were taking. I asked all the clever DIT's I knew, but this simple two computer zoom/screen share was all they suggested. I didn't set this up, my assists did, but seemed to run really well on the shooting side..

    I've tested with my R5 (no WiFi grip) and here is the time it takes to transfer: When using the camera access point and relatively close to my laptop: Raw 14 Sec 50MB C Raw 7 Sec 25MB JPEG L 2-3 Sec 9MB My WiFi connection is quite bad and the time is inconsistent, Raw takes around 20 to 30 seconds to transfer. While shooting Raw+JPEG, the JPEG comes first, however, the second JPEG will not pop up until the first Raw has transferred.

  • @xiaotianwan

    @xiaotianwan

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@DanielSchweinert If you are using camera access point mode you can run without a network, the camera will generate a WiFi network for your computer to connect, however, you can only use one wireless connection at one time(on my mac, there might be a workaround, but it's still too slow to work with) so if the existing network is not optimal, you'd have to choose camera access point mode for better speed and give up network access while shooting. For now, it seems the transfer speed provided by the WiFi grip is somewhat usable, but it's just too expensive.

    I am shooting wireless for more than 10 years now. I only transport JPGs wireless to my computer (or iPad or Android phone) and leave the RAWs and JPGs on my card. Transfer time is less than 3 seconds for a JPG with my GFX50R and a Toshiba FlashAir W-04. At least with EOS Utility you can limit your R5 to JPGs transfer only.

    HI Madison. What do you mean exactly? Unfortunately Canon is in control of how the camera connects to the Wifi network. Once that's achieved Capture One picks it up easily.

    @@CaptureOne in the video you are using a black box router or host. can i just take the camera and directly connect it to capture one 22? just connect it via wi-fi to the computer? and what would capture one 22 see her? as easy as via cable? I only have a canon r camera and a macbook pro. There is nothing else. Can I connect the camera to capture one via wi-fi?

    @@madisonmad4891 Any network requires a Router, so there is nothing unusual about the particular setup shown in this tutorial. You can (in theory) make an Ad Hoc network from your Mac, but it's not especially reliable or built for performance, so it would not be worth the effort. Canon dictates that you a) connect the camera to your network and b) capture one will then discover it. Hope that helps!

    Hi Liquid. It depends on your needs and it can be a lot faster than 10 seconds, depending on camera used, wifi speed etc. Indeed, if speed is your no 1 priority then it makes sense to use a cable. If mobility is more important, then wireless is an option.
