Great vid! (Video topic request) I would live to see a video about if there are any systematic methods to get a scientific correct white balance every time or at least most cases. In times you don’t have a shot of a grey card so I don’t have to rely on eyeballing it. This would save me a lot of time and headache if such a method existed.

David - your tutorials are always good, but this one knocks it out of the park. A massive amount of information delivered in an accessible format. I have been using Capture One for a couple of years, specifically because of its ability to tether to my Sony a99II - I learnt a lot watching this video. Adding the chapters is going to Mae it easy to refer back to. Thank you.

Exceptionally helpful, these videos and this host, Mr. Glover. Taking the time to listen to the explanations and suggestions, while simultaneously trying them and working through the details on my own computer, reveals this software and its usability to be fantastic, manageable successes, in my view. Great stuff.

If you shoot Canon. At 18:38 if you uncheck Canon. And in Canon R3 utilities check save to computer and camera. You won't just save the pictures to the computer. It also will leave a copy on the card in camera giving you a backup if anything happens.

by the way, the " iiq" is the file extension because this is the "RAW" format from Phase Ones' IQ series digital backs (esp. the new IQ-4 {released in 2016 / 2018?} 150 MP) , hence the name, but there are different sizes, this is just one! - there is a "down res" capture of 38 MP as one of these, similar trick to what hasselblad, and others do to 'cheat' more resolution, but this 'sensor shift' requires a lower pixel count to execute the shift.

Hi David and everyone, I have a question related to the tethering of an xt-4 (Fuji) with capture one (21, v15), on window10. I have no problems when shooting in normal view. However, when I enter in live view mode, the first time I open it the live view frames are high enough and the "video" reproduced on my screen is fast, with no lags. However, after the first picture is shot, the video becomes snapped, and every picture requires more than 5 minutes to be transferred from the camera to the pc. As a comparison, when I m tethering in normal view (i.e. no live view), every shot takes just 1 sec to transfer the lossless compressed raw file to my windows 10 computer (1 year old). Any suggestions? I m using an USB to USB-C cable (i tried even with a very short one, like 20 cm long), USB 3.0 on my computer. I even try shooting just JPG, and nothing has changed. Looks like there is a huge issue with the data transfer. Any helps or comments would be much appreciated. Thanks! Thank you and happy new Year to you all!

Mark, really need some help here! I can not get tether to work. I have a 27 mac, A7RIII, Catalina (latest update), Capture one pro 2020 (latest update) 15' cable from tether tools, camera set to PC remote, and when I connect computer and camera all I get is a display on back on camera saying "connecting" that never changes. I also tried sony's supplied cable to check cables, same thing. Then I tried micro port that I understand will also work for a connection - same thing. Checked C1 and "Sony" is connected. Thing is, I had this up and working with no issue about 9 months ago with no problems. Not sure if an upgrade somewhere threw this off. (camera firmware also up to date). Cant think of anything else to check - watched your past videos on tethering as well as other tube video and articles already! Thank you!

I just watched this tether video. I use Leica Shuttle (wish C1 would support) to tether my SL2 camera into a enabled hot folder. The files automatically appear in C1 but they don't show any presets I set up. At the end of the tether webinar, you seemed to indicate that imports from a hot folders would read presets? What could I being doing wrong. Also, in the discussion about also writing files to the camera card, the reason it's important is that when shooting fast with hi res files, often Capture falls behind displaying the pictures , on occasion it freezes and needs a restart. I've lost frames that I wouldn't have if it also wrote to the card.

Hi David~ I have been looking everywhere for this answer, youtube, the C1 website and support and just cannot find it. When I am tethering headshot sessions on site, I am photographing person B while person A is with my helper, going through the images we've just taken to choose their favorites. How do I stop the new images from interrupting and popping up in front of what they are doing?? I know it was the click of a setting and I have done it before; yet somehow it is back on now and I cannot locate the fix. Any help is MUCH appreciated! 😬

Hi!. If I'm tethering with a small capacity internal disk (in a laptop) and the photographer wants everything in the same session, so the internal disk is gonna be full quickly, how should I do to backup the whole assistance with just one session per day? Let's say the production last a week and they want a session per day but everyday requires more than the laptop disk has, so I have to delete after each backup process. I'm not sure if I explained this properly (in English I mean.) Any suggestion? Thanks

Great until you get to EXPORT and CaptureOne 21 is totally different. Anyone know of a video that helps with that? For example at 1:11:35 he starts to introduced adding another token which will create the "Looks" folder inside each exported folder, like TIFF folder will have the selected exports in a the LOOK folder they were in originally. Now with 21 having different everything in its EXPORT section I don't see where to put the SESSION SUB PATH token.

@ 38:15 what he is doing, those buttons operate the servo-drive encoders directly, look at the focus system on the Phase one XF camera, esp. the video of "hyper focal" tool, and calibration!, massively informative, and explains the system; this is a little like the dslr's auto-focus system, but YOU have the rains :-)).

why don't you mention Phase ONE ( XT / XF )& hasselblad in your list of cameras?- the most notable exceptions, as these are what studio photographers use ( and the genre where the concept of tethering came from in the first place!!). most dslr/ mirror-less shooters Don't tether as a rule, as their cards (SD) and the resolution {12-36 MP} mean that using a card reader and taking the card out of the camera is a good option, we don't need the speed, and our "workflow" entails we shoot ( family event / road trip/holiday) and come home, THEN when we have time, we process the shots, if we even know how ( most of us print using a Fujifilm Global machine at our favourite camera store!). Tethering is for FAST transfer of LARGE resolution sensor files, where shooters are working at a shoot, no time to stop and take the card out/ process the images themselves, stops the shoot, so a "technical Assistant" processes the files simultaneously as the shoot goes on, and makes it quicker to deliver the images to the waiting clients.
