Totally. Great guy and great player.
Hey guys just spreading the word of the incredible wholesome community that is Dave Simpson’s comment section. Have a wonderful day
Captain kept up nicely with him. Nice kid, nice sound.
Laurence Jones absolutely kills it live. Go see. Superb
Such an underrated musician...and a really nice guy as well. I had the opportunity to talk to him after a club gig last year. He played an amazing show, even though barley 50 people had shown up.
What a nice guy! Great guitarist, and the sort of guy that youngsters can look up to and keep the blues alive. Good for you mate!
Amazing to see a family friend and my guitar teacher of three years on this channel!
Another vote for Dave Simpson, he's cosmic
Lee you sounded amazing thank you for playing for us! You guys Rock!
Laurence Jones is a brilliant blues guitarist and fantastic showman, thanks for the video
Great to see a wonderful new British blues guitarist in the traditional sense. I love this guys guitar and talent...
wauuuu....I met Jones 3 years ago after amazing gig in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Such talented player and very nice young man. He is keeping blues alive in Europe! (I like the looks&sound of his vintage strat he bought recently in Denmark)
Not heard of Laurence. But I'll be checking him out now. Thanks guys
Really nice interview, hadn't heard of him but will check him out.
That outro jam! 👍👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸 Lee was killin' it too. I can really hear some Buddy Guy influences in Laurence's playing. And that's a beautiful thing.
What a thoroughly lovely bloke and what a guitarist. Really enjoyed this one - thanks
Very impressed by Laurence Jones. Came across him on internet a week back, he is superb.
.....should have added below we've checked out Laurence at Sheffield Blues and Rambling Man in recent years.....brilliant !! There is more to come from him I'm sure, beautiful player and singer!,,
Really enjoyed the jam at the end...thanks guys!
His Dad is the hero....
I so enjoyed this vlog. Lee you are a superb interviewer and Lawrence Jones is a new to me Artist. I love his story and his tenacity to pursue his career in music. He is an Amazing player and has a wonderful voice to match. I hope he makes it to the states sometime soon! Peace and Love!
Great interview Lee, never heard of this guy, Just flipped to hear his music just fantastic now off to download his music
That was an awesome jam at the end, the captain really dug into it
Lee is nailing it more and more his timing particularly has improved enormously in the last year!! Very Cool.
Outstanding...Lee get his grind on
Nice exit guys - well done, hats off !!
great choice of interview .. great young player
Saw my Jones at the Borderline in London last year, what a fantastic show, really good band too.
Awesome!!! Been waiting for this one!
Great stuff! :)
That was nice playing from you Lee.
I've studied to play the Blues for 23 yrs or so and never heard of Laurence Jones. Thanks for having him on Captain, he's a true Bluesman talent. I hear a little Johnny Lang in his voice in this lil diddy though not a screamer like Johnny. I'll be checking Laurence out now. Thanks for what you do, great video here! Oh btw, I've got a 90's original Blues-Deville, awesome amps!

porkchopsrv just saw this. There’s a lot of new guys on the scene. But Jonny seems to have been overlooked since he grew up. He can blow anybody off the stage if he wants. He’s changed his style a bit. I kindve miss his earlier straight, searing blues but check this out hold on brb. Here you go. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2iilJaEosqdfMY.html

So I had to start watching Laurence Jones clips and there he is with Samantha fish..who I only heard about this year. I would love to see her interviewed

😍
I would pay to download the outro jam!!!!
Don't worry, we can do any geeking out that may be required. Dig that "Signature" cabinet. 😸
I had never heard Laurence Jones before. Nice tone and he seems to be a decent young man. As an aside, how about The Captain Meets Tal Wilkenfeld?
Awesome guy LJ, get Dave Kilminster on he is a Killer Guitar Player
The Captain meets Hozier....🙏🏻
Why don’t you give us his gear list on your store? #recommendation
LJ RULES 🤟🏻
Lee can keep up pretty well these days!
Hey Lee! Any chance of getting Ellie Rowsell from Wolf Alice on? It would be nice to see a female player a bit more often.
Is he using the Dunlop mini wah?

The KOT uses the same chip as a TS, but the circuits are different. That is what is causing the confusion. TPS did an episode on it.

Perhaps invite Mark Owers from Danze Macabre? Seriously good player.
Yamaha Pacifica 612 FM or a Strat ?
Hey, I bet he'd like drive a model T Ford. That's got loads of history
what octave pedal is it?
Mr. Jones almost sounds like slide tones when he plays!
That tone. Slide with no slide. How you do?
@gdo6927
5 жыл бұрын
Roston Willis It would be better hearing it from the man himself but it sounds like a combination of an octave fuzz and playing with fingers rather than a pick. Hope this helps.
Rare usage of the middle pickup on a Strat...
When will the Captain meet Heavy Devy?
Had me on tone and then smashed me on timing and touch
The captain meets Tom Misch!
Why do people wear a v-neck and a scarf? What is this? is it too hot or too cold for you?
Yep get Dave Simpson
THE OLD STRAT SOUND SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE CS
Does he djent?
@meadish
5 жыл бұрын
He does a sweet djentrified version of Darude - Sandstorm mashed-up with Smoke on the Water, and throws in the Licc on his tonewood guitar with P-90s, as a homage to Little Wayne.
🗣CAPTAIN MEETS TYLER BRYANT🗣
CAPTAIN! METRONOME is your FRIEND.
JOHN. MAYER. COME ONNN
At 30.10 his tone sound really good...maybe it's the Octavier...they sound good in a full mix ...but not on there own...so I'll take that back about the goose in the fog....
I like what Laurence does. But I think it’s difficult to reconcile the reason for why he likes his fender strat (history, used feel) and doesn’t like PRS guitars (feels too modern) with his statement that he likes tone. I thought that this particular strat on clean sounded quite dry compared to some other strats we’ve heard on the channel. Also even after tuning it, some strings were still out of tune. I personally only like the semi hollows and 594 of PRS guitars. One might not like PRS tones, but those guitars they stay in tune, which is good for tone...
@Finnvbot
5 жыл бұрын
It's not real blues if it's in tune, man. ;) We all know that any improvements to the design of electric guitar kills the vibe and authenticity. So does playing something else than regurgitated pentatonic licks all day...
I don't know what it is, but when I see someone playing without a pick, to me it's the visual equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard. I know, I'm twisted.
Captain meets Rabea?
Innit
I do hope that's not his live tone.....I hate to say bad things about Muscians it's hard enough as it is...but that tone....it sounds like he's using some sort of Fuzz. ..the kind of Fuzz that on dying battery mode....I will have to find his music on KZread....everyone deserves a chance....he's very young too....looks like a young Clapton....

I agree for the video. However, live he's got a tone to die for. I don't know if it's a recording issue here, but live with the deville, he sounds sooo good. Just saw him yesterday for the 2nd time. Absolutely mindblowing show!

Guitar is increasingly an anachronistic art form. Can't imagine many kids will be picking up guitars in 20 years time. Sad but true.
@joerobinson6199

Boudicawasnotreallyallthat Smith hopefully that’s not true. What will they play? A turntable? It will always be the coolest instrument around. I don’t think guitar will ever die.
@boudicawasnotreallyallthat1020

@@joerobinson6199 I don't think they will play anything Joe. Electric guitar music will be as niche as any other form of classical. Which is what we are dealing with basically. How will Clapton, Hendrix at al be viewed in 20 years? In the same way we view Mozart etc I would suggest. It's sad, because guitar music was the great joy of my youth, but it is what it is.
