Capillary Electrophoresis (Part 1): Introduction & Context
This video is Part 1 of 6 for the e-Lectures series of NUS Chemistry CM3292 experiment titled "Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) of Inorganic Anions".
Contents:
1:43 What is electrophoresis?
4:26 Brief historical development of CE
7:16 Overview of the experiment
By the end of this e-lecture, students will be able to:
1. Describe the basic principles of electrophoresis.
2. Discuss the advantage of CE over High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) by comparing an electropherogram and respective chromatogram.

Many thanks for making this video
Hi, I have a question. When F-, Cl- and Br- was added to identify the ions, why is it added separately? Why not add all the ions together?
Why you did not made videos about HPLC, your are amazing
Ur so good. Thanks for this video

Hello! I have a question, does this method separate the molecules from large to small? Will the smaller molecules have quicker results than the larger molecules? (they are faster at the detector) I hope you understand, english is not my first language.

Hi @Eva, thanks for watching. The answer is a little bit more complicated than separating the molecules based on their sizes. It involves understanding how the two mechanisms work: (1) Electroosmotic flow and (2) Electrophoretic mobility, the charge of the species, the Stokes radii of the analytes, and the voltage applied. To answer your question, perhaps you may watch my other videos related to capillary electrophoresis? Link: kzread.info/head/PLKuPzbjZoQ2i42DW_Ss7jCrcbHEgvaXDx
very organized video
