Definitely start using a mono leader with a swivel. Most importantly stop tying the improved cinch with braid. Always use the palomar knot instead. Great content

FYI... Stony Point Dyke is only accessible by boat. Bicycle or pedestrian traffic down the private road is not allowed.

Pretty cool to see fishing content like this from up north guys. It seems most of these types of channels are based out of the south East . Is it common these days for Yankees from Massachusetts to say “ y’all “ ? Where are “ y’all’s “ Boston accents ?

nice video BTW , and one question was that the canal or the bay part of the canal and a tip is to not tie straight to braid because you can snap of easeliy so i would recon a spro barel swivel with like a 2 foot 40 or 50 pund mono or fluorocarbon leader but keep in mind folurue is expensive but mono works the same

It was a little south of the canal but not in the canal. And yeah I'm always surprised when my line breaks but never knew braid did that. Good to know

I usually just double uni knot the leader to braid as I worry about bringing the swivel through the guides. But yeah a leader and TA clip solves a ton of problems

Drop the swivel and learn the FG not. It's not as hard as it looks and passes through the guides of the rod like butter. It's also a very strong knot. Everyone has a preference but I use 50lb braid, 40lb floro leader and its done well for me. Nice fishing keep it up and good luck out there

Put a leader on with mono. Don’t do straight braid ever. Unless your frogging for largies I guess but still.. learn how to tie an FG knot and you’ll never go back

@@cannabass5729 for Striper I would go 20-40 depending on water clarity. If it’s an incoming tide the water tends to be a little more clean coming in from the ocean so a lighter leader like 20-25 will get more bites.

It's funny that when you decided to show people where to fish, it's a place with no parking and you have to ride 5 miles to get to it. Why is it a problem to show people where to fish?.

I'll make a video explaining in more detail why I don't share the names of places this fall/winter. Trust me I would get a lot more views by saying the names of all the places I fish but it's not fair to expose other people's spots just for views. But sometimes I'll share locations if it's a more well known spot or a 5 mile bike ride lol
