What??? This review compare was HORRIBLE!! He never did and side by side compare. Never did any low light test, bokeh compare, coma, chromatic aberration - none of that! Besides being smaller, less expensive, and having IS, every other reviewer is showing the Sigma being better! And is you have the R5/6, you may not need or even want IS in the lens since that may be some wobble in the video. The 5/6 only lets you have IBIS and IS both off or on, not one or the other. So better to this FL to have no IS in the lens for the R5/6. This compare is so bad. Worthless....

Can you compare Sigma 40mm Art against Canon RF 50mm?

Which firmware do you have on the lens and on the eos R? I bought an eos R it has 1.80 firmware on it, I attached my sigma 35mm 1.4art lens onto it, and the image was so dark( very underexposed) and there were black circles on the screen. Found online I need to turn off the lens aberration correction in the camera, the circles has gone, but the camera still underexpose the images and doesn't change the iso on auto iso settings in movie mode. I use the canon r ef adapter. any idea what can I do as I love the sigma lens

Hello, I was using the latest one. However, I sold my Canon EOS R a while ago and got the Canon EOS R6 instead. I did not have any problems with that. I still own the Canon RF 35mm which I love a lot. Daniel

Update the firmware on the sigma lens. It resolved this issue. If you don’t have a dock, sigma will do it for you or your local camera shop might be willing to help you.

So I have the 50 stm with the eos rp, my next lens will either be the 35 RF or the 24-105 RF which do you recommend? I'll probably get both down the line but which do you think is more fun to use and better in your opinion Also I'm a new subscriber ! Thank you for the good content

Thank you very much for your subscription.to be honest with you I was thinking about getting the zoom lens as well.but I decided to get the 35 mm instead since it’s more fun to play with it.you have a much faster aperture and the results are much better than using a zoom lens thatit’s kind of the thing with zoom lenses that you always see it is not special

Thanks Daniel - I want the 35 RF and the RP as a lightweight combined for gimbal work and a travel camera. I just wish Nikon would make the same type of lens - it's a bargain.

I think you ignored some aspects like chromatic aberration but in general I liked it thank you. adding up the IS function this is very good lens in its price range, but if you see side by side bokeh Sigma has a better bokeh.

Is the RF lens really sharper that the SIGMA one?? I really expect to have the comparison in one same photo, since the photo from the google drive are not took in one same pic in same lens.

I also doubt that. Cuz Sigma 35mm 1.4 art can compete with the Canon 35 1.4L lense. RF 35 1.4 is anyway the cheap RF lense.

@@calypso_228 I'm being a little bit funny with that comment, because the Sigma 35 is infamous for sketchy autofocus performance. I have not used it with an RF body myself, so I can't honestly provide insight about the hands-on experience with it.

I gotta queistion about few shots from description: 1/3200sec at f4, iso 1000 with 35mm rf. why such high iso? the girls were stationary and there's lots of noise that could be avoided. was there any reason to shoot with this setting are what?

All between 1.8-8

So if you had a choice of any lens for free which one would you pick? Sounds like the Canon is the winner having IS and being sharper and having a quieter motor

I would take the RF 35mm, which is mine anyway. However, if you give me the choice, I would like to have a 600mm f/4 RF lens 🤪

Wow I'm very surprised that the Canon is sharper than the Sigma witch is been my favourite lens for the past few years..I ordered an Eos R with the RF 35mm and while mounted on a tripod I'll take some shots with both lenses, I hope to get the same results that you are mentioning as I prefer to carry less weight and have IS, but I like the Sigma so much that I have to see it to believe it!, Great Video thanks for posting!!!

@@tonymed2738 I finally had time to put the camera on a tripod and do a comparison between this two lenses, and the result is.... the Sigma has better bokeh at the same aperture not to mention that it can shoot at 1.4...the rf is sharper, has IS and it can shoot macro, also for travelling is a good choice. So you'll think that I keep the Canon.., but I didn't, to my eyes the separation from the objects that I get from the Sigma I cannot get with the Canon, there is something about the Sigma that makes me feel good when I see the images, but if you are after a sharper compact IS and macro capable lens the Canon is your lens..

As RF und das EF mount sind exakt gleich groß.....

All the other reviews says sigma 35 art is sharper than rf 35 1.8 but you are saying the opposite.

Yeah. All reviews say the sigma is sharper as it is a pro lens. But this mad guy is misleading everyone to the wrong lens. Better watch many more videos and do your research before buying RF

Sigma is much sharper than this canon lens. Try to test it again. But I love my rf35 for it small size.

I would think the same, although I only have the sigma lens. I believe the sigma art image quality should be better. But it's just too heavy for the RP.

Not in my experience, I have both and I am selling the Sigma. The bokeh may be a bit creamier but definitely not as sharp. Plus IS in video and lighter

Files that you give us to comparison for download are different. Comparing 21mb file in igh res with Canon 35mm vs SIGMA 35mm just 1,8mb file in lower res. That is not perfect to compare. In my opinion SIGMA lens is sharper but may be not so good in low light like Canon 35 lens. Thank you :)

I think its sponsored video. I test sigma and my rf three day with tons of shot but sigma is sharp. Jpeg and raw both. Auto focus bit fast on sigma. But its weight like brick. Finaly sigma is clear winner anf i regret buying rf 35. Actually rf35 is jack of all trades but master in none. Sigma have quality and butter bokeh This is what i want. But in my country sigma 850 usd. Rf 35 420 usd. Everyone have his opinion

@@Leo-hwru I mean you can do all things with it, macro, have image stabilization and fast aperture but its most important thing is image quality and when I compare it with 8-year-old sigma 35 art. sigma shines and even 24-105f4 Image quality is more sharp than it. I have both and I place on dubbizle for sale in Dubai, if you need I am ok with 350 USD BCZ never used. its light but i need image quality i can hold a brick if it gives that, everyone have his own priorities and by the way its a very good lens until you compare with others 35.

This review is completely out of touch. Not based in reality at all. The reviewer glosses over many inconvenient truths about the RF lens and misrepresents the rest. It could be that he’s being honest, and it’s some kind of subconscious confirmation bias. Thumbs down.
