R10 became my main camera now, The AF system is absolutely insane same as R3 but the price is 7 times less

I think your comments and analysis are well balanced, thoughtful and well informed. And the model shoot was fantastic. I was impressed that you gave your honest opinion of crop sensor images on a piece featuring Canon's latest crop body.

I have had the two ranges of Canon 35mm film Cameras and those two Cameras were extremely heavy compared with the Digital camera I have now had for eight years. I must admit I did have a short break for about 4 or 5 years due to a 35m film hike in the price in film processing. Since I had my current Canon Eos 12000 in 2015 I haven't looked back and found that I can have it either in my Rucksack without any safety issues. A friend once said to me just recently that by carrying an old style gadget bag/case had almost gave him a bad shoulder With following your videos on KZread over the last few days are quite interesting and brought back and refreshed my learning when I was a member of a nearby Camera Club, and I have also read a photographic book and also family said that you can change the ISO rating at any point.

Honestly tho a decent to good photographer can get good photos with the rebel t7. The tech has improved and that’s awesome, I just wish so many wouldn’t worry or compare and just get out there and shoot. Great vid.

In addition to the great style you have. You are a master in the portrait retouching.

the rp is really good on stills. i have mine with rf 100 2.8L and a speed light (also planning to get a HSS flash). the portrait and macro that i get is really sharp.

Do you have action preset for editing? Its really nice how you bring dark shadows to light with perfect details...

Hello, thank you for this beautiful review. I’ve been eyeing the R10 for a while now and I need it mostly for videography. I read somewhere that R10 should have a digital video stabilization and thought that the IS lens would help stabilize video footage as well, kinda disappointed after hearing that you used gimbal and it’s still shaky.. anyone else have a different experience? Or advice whether to still buy this camera ?

Thanks for this video, Irene. You mentioned that on the full frame camera the images would be less soft, and that may be, but in my experience with the RF 35 1.8 on the EOS R, I found the images to be soft as well. Maybe it was just me, but just saying it could be the lens

The old EF 35mm 2.0 IS USM (roughly the same price) is sharper - it works great on my 80D and R6.

@@lifesbeautiful3024 Welcome - there is a good comparison of both from @Camerahoarders here on youtube. Another nice aspect of the EF 35mm 2.0 IS USM is that it focusses fully internally, nothing moving on both sides.

Wonder how it would compare using the ef adapter and canon 50mm 1.2 on the r10

@@ondrejpoledno106 in my own opinion, yes I would upgrade to a R10! Don't get me wrong, the D5600 makes nice portrait photos, but I can get a lot more out of my R10 right now. It feels more modern and is easy to use.

The behind the scenes parts look very blocky to me. Is it youtube compression or the camera? If I set 4k quality on my 1080p screen it gets way better.

I think the biggest takeaway to these sorts of questions for me is that it is ALWAYS about the photographer. Irene does incredible work and even though top tier tools may make it easier for her, the incredible is never the tool and always the Irene. :)

Always. I found Irene on a video where photographers take photos of same model and compare and I remember being blown away how much better her pics were compared to other professional photographers and I realized, it wasn’t the camera. It was her. They all had professional gear and her photos were way above the others.

@@aldrianalfonso5638 ive seen her literally show off photoshoots on low budget to show how to do it. She does it with only natural light and cheaper cameras. Literally she could take amazing photos with a disposable camera. she has complete knowledge of posing and lighting.

Would you recommend the canon R8 for portraits?

Don't think the R10 is really a beginner camera, after all the menu is quite concise, almost identical to the R6/R5, we use it as a notebook, travel and occasional back up camera, the APS format will deal with most professional demands providing you have premium glass fitted.

if u r using refelector or filler light its much better on backlight photos

I tried to do some post-editing with R10 and was pretty disappointed when zooming in. A lot of noise appeared when ISO reaches 1600, your model skin will lose the detail. In the video, even though the photos were shot at ISO 100, color noise is easy to detect. Try to keep it below 800 as much as you can.

To get best results shoot in Raw and don't develop in Lightroom. Take DXO 6 and you will get much better results at higher ISO. Adobe is really bad in developing Canon Raws. Also good results come from Canons free Software DPP4, but you need to be very patient to work with it. I usually work with Canon R5, but for traveling light I love the R10. It's less quality but much more then my iPhone pro.

Canon's apsc glass has always been either loss of resolution from using a full frame lens or just not sharp at all.

How would this one compare to the r7 when it comes to sharpness? Anybody around who has tested both?

Make Some shots on R7 with class A lenses. The differente will be vers small.

The EF EF-S to R adapter works perfectly with the older EF series lenses. Myself and most of the people I know with R series canon are using EF lenses. I don’t have a single R lens and have no plans on buying one anytime soon.

That’s what I’m hoping for. The r6mii is out of my range with glass and I’m used to shooting crop, so the r7 with 24-70 seems to be where I’m swaying.

I know it's old but how about the M50 II or M6 II with the wonderful EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM lens? That's a killer small/lightweight setup that can really pack a punch :)

@@barnabyfunk Just few weeks ago i switched to Lumix S5, because of video features and full frame sensor). About 50 1.8 rf, i was pretty satisfied with that lens. I guess it's a "must have" lens for the camera like R10. The quality of pics is nice. Also, you can customize the focus ring to change ISO, for example. It's extremely convenient.

Put a 50mm 1.2 or 85mm 1.2 on the R10. It’s not always the body you use but the lens🤷‍♂️

I really think it was the lens you used. If you would’ve used the 50 1.2 as an 85 you would prob have the same results in sharpness. I actually guarantee it. Because the amount of pixels in the crop sensor equals a 45 mp camera.

Lol, higher pixel density APS-C cameras benefit from better glass (hello Fujifim X mount photographers). What the OP suggested is not unreasonable (not sure why she was dismissive to the point of being rude). 😂 This video demonstrates that with FF vs APS-C there is not a huge difference in detail, all things being equal kzread.info/dash/bejne/aGGju8ysm5Otkc4.html

About the whole "this is not as sharp as full frame" thing: I'd bet you that R10 with 24mp is sharper than a R6 with 20mp and terrible AA coating. It looks less sharp just because of the lenses used. Firstly you lose resolution when you use full frame glass on crop sensors, regardless if it's substantial or not. Then showing a 180€ 50mm 1.8 full frame lens on a crop sensor VS a 700€ 85mm f2 built for full frame, on a full frame camera, as well as a 3300€ 85mm f1.2 with a 4500€ body is kinda like comparing a Ferrari to a Fiesta and making the fiesta run on gas mixed with water. This said, with propper or equivalent glass to that RP they would be matched for sharpness. The RP has 2 more MP, but the R10 has a more recent processor, so yeah. Both of them would probably be sharper than a R6 though, and a sony 6400 with a sigma crop sensor lens would probably be sharper than anything you can put on that R10. The real takeaway is that 50 1.8, regardless of brands, are called "nifty-fifty" for a reason, and your work is fantastic ;)

There are currently two rf crop lenses available for the R10 and they are both not really good. If you use a 50mm on the R10, it will result in 80mm due the crop factor. So it makes sense to me, to compare 85mm on a full frame with a 50mm on the R10.

@@bernie8811 it’s not the same just because the focus distance is the same, one would think the quality of the glasses also matters, no? The worst lens vs any other lens is not a fair test of a camera’s resolution. A kit 28-70 f3.5-5.6 is not the same as a 24-70 f4 and much less a 28-70 f2, for comparison.

@@Goncalopb But isn‘t that the thing about the R10? People who buy the R10, will more likely buy cheaper lenses. Otherwise they would directly go with R7 or full frame. And if we talk about quality, what about the sensor? In bad light conditions, R10 won‘t have a chance against Full frame, no matter what lense you put on it.

@@bernie8811 never argued the choice of lenses for each camera, just the quote that the R10 is less sharp than a full frame camera and proceeded to explain why. It makes total sense for a R10 user to have budget glass, the same as it makes sense to have more expensive glass on a R5. In short, you can’t judge a camera’s sharpness when you compare against different lenses, do you understand? If the lenses were exchanged from the RP and R10 the argument would be “the R10 is sharper than the RP”. Not defending a Canon camera, it’s one of the only brands I never bought, so I care the same for both 🤷‍♂️ Also, the review of this camera is for amateur photographers, so someone may be making their purchase decision on non accurate information, hence why I went through the trouble of even writing it.
