Фильм және анимация
The Canon 5D holds a very special place in this strange landscape of Camera Land... Here's an absolutely non-technical review and reason I have turned this into my Every Day Carry.

I used to shoot weddings. When I got my first 5D, everything just 'clicked' (pun intended). Brings back exciting memories!
Agree it is such a great camera for its simplicity and image quality. Something about not seeing the image on the back screen due to its low resolution and then the surprise you get when you see the photo result on a monitor. Also have the 6D and that is a great camera too (with close but not same colour as 5D Classic) and few extra features for those times you need to get the shot.
just look at the ridiculously good images coming out of the 5d. the color is just magic!
Love how you put this together, Chris! Great content and shots 🙌

Thank you!!
I had the original 5D a few years ago. Really loved shooting with it. Simple. No video. No frill, jus satisfying photography. I enjoyed your take on this camera, well done.

Thank you!!
I learned everything I know about photography with this camera. My first street photograph, first long exposure photograph, first paid photo shoot. Broke the back screen and treated it like a film camera. It was paired with a Helios 55 f2. Bought another one in 2021 and that was paired with a petzval lens. Now I’m contemplating on whether I should buy a a7s mki or the 5dc. Leaning towards the 5dc but the focus peaking on the a7s is a plus. I highly recommend the 5dc. The shutter is crisp!
I recently bought a 30D from a thrift store, and I miss how the big DSLR’S felt when you held it in your hands. The images I can make now with the older cameras combined with all the knowledge I’ve learned make for some beautiful imagery now.
Beautifully said! Love the video!
I can still remember picking up my 5D after many months of lusting after it. It really was groundbreaking - I remember being staggered at it's resolving power at the time. Will always be one of the memorable ones. Now love the R5 as much I'd say, it just..resonates with me.
I've not used the original 5D, but I've got a mkii, as the old adage goes, it's not what you've got but what you do with it. As an experienced photographer, I would be happy to take on an inexperienced photographer with the latest Hassleblad and be quite sure I would get a better image. As the old saying goes, it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it. As an owner of both the 5Dmkii and the mkiv, I'm more than aware of the exceptional image quality that they can achieve, thank you for keeping these incredible cameras alive
Wonderful take on a classic camera. It’s slow, somewhat challenging to use but rewarding nevertheless. I got mine back in 2007. Years of its professional use are far gone but I’ll never leave my good friend behind…great camera and awesome video!

That’s great to hear! I love when people really get to know their gear and cherish it. And thank you for the kind words and for watching!
Great video and well scripted! 5Dc and the 40 is my favorite for EDC as well.
Damn I don’t have a memory like this with a certain camera body being that I’m new to photography but last year my Gf and I took a trip to CDMX (amazing city btw) and I took a pic of this pay phone in the neighborhood of Condesa and man it brought me back to my childhood no doubt. I shot it with ilford HP5 and when I got my scans back I was instantly transported to the time when I would call my mom to pick me up from the movies from a pay phone. Much simpler simpler times then. She trusted me to call her. I had 50 cents to make the call. It was so nice back then. She’s gone from this world but that photos takes me there every time I see it.

I love that man. So so much. What a great memory. I have a whole instazine I made from my time in CDMX and Oaxaca on my second Instagram account @_cjtz Would be cool to compare shots!
Really love this one! It brought a smile to my face 🥰
I've been a photographer since 1976 ... mostly a film user but the 5D is so much like a film camera ... the images have a wonderful film-like quality but still are tack sharp ..... I have several Canon lenses and they are top notch ... all new digital cameras have a precise almost too real look .... the 5D is my B+W camera
Very nice honest presentation!
Great video!! I love the b-roll and that you kept the mic!

I had the Canon 1000D, Canon 30D, Canon 100D I sold all of them but after a while I felt like missing the Canon vibes so I bought the 20D And after all these years I do believe that there is nothing that can beat the Canon,s Color Style I do hope to find a good used 5D because its a legendary camera Here in Germany it’s really hard to find a one with a good shape Thank you for this video …

@@Christellezphoto the CCD sensor of the 20D is magical…
Inspired me to take my 'milk jug' for a walk later today. Great video!
I have two Canon cameras: a 5Dmk2 and an R8. I don't really feel the R8 would be THAT much better. And the EVF is clearly much worse. So overall I don't really share your sentiment, but I do feel similarly with cameras made in the 1950's and 1960's... :)
The Glass Milk Jugs make for the best water bottles as long as you keep the lids.

@@Christellezphoto I have been literally reusing them for the last 6 years. Greatest water bottles. Ever. As for the 5D? I use mine all the time too with the 40mm. Its great.
I understand, but I somewhat disagree with a little of what you said. I have used many cameras over the years, starting from the 300D all the way to mirrorless of today. I have been lucky to use a lot of expensive equipment and lenses. I bought myself a 5D Classic a few years back and its almost the perfect camera for landscapes and portraits for me. I would struggle with sports and wildlife, and anything that moves fast, but generally its fantastic at what it does. I have a range of lenses from the cheaper nifty 50 through to some expensive L glass. The only two complaints I have are that only the middle auto focus point is consistently tact sharp, where the other ones can sometimes miss, and that I wish I had just a couple more megapixels on occasion - just 4-6 more maybe? When I crop sometimes I know I am starting with only 12 and if I want a larger print this can cause issues. Other than that, I love how analogue it feels to me, rather than EVFs, touch screens focusing etc. I feel I have to work for the shot rather than relying on the camera so much. The thing I love most though is the colours from the 5D classic. I have not yet found a camera that matches the colours I enjoy so much. I adore this sensor. It is obviously personal choice, but as I am a slower paced photographer and not shooting off 1000s a photos each time I go out, maybe the 5D suits me more that it does you? I would recommend anyone starting photography as a hobby to pick up a 5D classic, and maybe a 35, 40 or 50mm lens, and just learn by doing. All that said, I love the story telling and the video mate.

Appreciate you! I actually think we’re right on the same page. I would recommend this in a heartbeat for anyone starting out for sure. Except for maybe sports and wildlife, like you mentioned! The 5D mark ii might get those extra few Megapixels too. I love that camera also :)

@Christellezphoto I'm actually looking at the original 1dx for sports and wildlife. I feel that as dslr get cheaper, the opportunity for people to buy older professional cameras is expanding and it's really exciting.
What a beautiful video 🥹
