I just bought one so I could have my first full frame. I’m doing a shoot for my daughter’s engagement in Disney World this spring. After hearing of the fault with the mirror I was scared of a mechanical failure during the shoot, so I bought another as a backup. Then the low light quality concerned me and I thought of going with the Mark iii. I ultimately decided to stick with the 5D classic and bought better glass. I have the 50mm 1.8 ii and the STM, 16-35mm f4 IS L, 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS , 70-200mm f4 IS L, and a 35mm f1.4L. I really love just having a simply beautiful, photo only, classic camera. Great video.

Don’t buy one. The mkii is so cheap used there’s no excuse.

Maybe it's my age but I'm at the point that "old gear" doesn't mean its unusable. I'm sure camera manufacturers who want to sell you the latest thing (with marked up prices) and gear heads will disagree! 😆

It has a relatively poor sensor compared to the competition at the time. Very poor dynamic range and riddled with magenta colour noise if you tried to raise the shadows. It can still take a nice photo but people who can't afford a current camera need to know you get what you pay for.

Definitely my favorite camera to shoot photos with.

Hello there, I really enjoyed the peacefulness of your video and the music, very well done. Just wonder, since I am a new user of 5d classic, have you edited the photos or they were straight from the camera? For a first time I felt the surge to edit my photos, something I've never done before. But almost every picture I with 5d classic take feels like it needs a little adjustment. It might be just me not being familiar with the camera or needing more experience...

Hi! I shot in raw and edited in lightroom. Only simple stuff like correcting shadows & highlights.

Hi there, excellent video and beautiful images. Just got one mine too and can't wait to give it a ride. Although coming from Canon system, I think that the af assist beam does not work, even it's enabled. Is it supposed to light up or something?

AF Assist beam uses an attached flash to aid the AF in camera, it’s not anything built into the camera itself.

Your photography is stellar, but those 5D colors are just amazing! Thanks for reminding me to find a 5D for myself! PS I'm very fond of Michael Caine impressions, and I feel that you might well manage a quite passable interpretation of the great man. If you're shooting in an appropriate area of London -- meaning anywhere in London -- and have any inclination to do so, please do, in homage to the one and only. I'm sorry to ask, but there simply aren't enough Michael Caine (and Christopher Walken) impressions on YT. Thank you.

Do you prefer the 50mm 1.8 ii over the stm version? I find the colors with my 5dc superlative and better than my higher priced nikon

Never used the newer STM 50mm but have used the 40mm STM and the autofocus was a lot quicker than the old 50mm. Optically more controlled also.

This is an emotional camera. May not carry out every instruction. Needs some flattering. The number of videos on this wonderful imaging equipment speaks for its popularity. And there are solid reasons for it. Thank u for the video.

Is it better to upgrade to the 5d mkii

As long as you don’t go above iso 800 you’re fine.

Better in terms of color rendering..5d mark ii is also great slightly different than 5d classic,6d classic has the closest colour like 5D classic

@@KC-in9px dxomark is not everything listen from pro photographers who have used these models..like Martin castein..i wrote about colour rendering not depth or other modern specs.

They never fixed the mirror issue on later models. Canon didn’t know about the issue until after they stopped making them in 2008. They were ALL recalled in Feb 2009 upon discovery of weak glue. It’s incorrect information which it’s just repeated on videos like this without actual research. It’s hear say someone made up. I’ve had three bodies with a ‘3’ serial number. Two had the rails from the recall, and the other didn’t as whoever owned it never sent it in.
