All these years, I've discarded my stock veggies, along with the bones and skin, when I strained my broth. It never occurred to me to blend them into the stock! Out comes the immersion blender next time. (Another old dog learning a new trick. Many thanks!)

God's Word instructs us older women to teach the younger in all the ways of the family and home. Titus 2:4-5 "That they may teach the YOUNG women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." No, it's not always very well-received these days...they know all they need to know as long as they have packaged food and the internet. 😉 But to all of you who love and keep the old ways and try to pass it along...Press on, Sisters! 💗 I pray the day doesn't come that we all are backed into a corner where the old ways are our only means of survival, but the craft of preparedness is admirable in any woman...or man! 😊 P.S. Really cute tee shirt, Mrs Lori! 😍

Miss Lori, we "older" folk must think alike. I did the same thing at Thanksgiving. I bought a 22 lb. turkey for 39 cents a lb. I did skin the breast (put the skin in the broth) and leave it out of the broth making, because I decided to raw pack it. I also had a pack of giblets I threw in the pot to cook. Wow! Was it ever good! Thank you so much for your kind words. I've been canning for 55 years, and I am also still learning. And, who would have ever thought you could teach an old dog new tricks? LOL. Love your channel. Love your attitude, and your teaching skills.

39 cents a lb here also. I buy 6 every Thanksgiving to can up. I actually cook the turkeys whole in a large stock pot with celery carrots and onions. Cover with water and simmer for a few hours. I can the white meat and dark meat serperately. I strain the broth and pour over the meat. I can up the vegetables and remaining broth for an awesome soup base. I'm going to look for the frozen noodles at my local Walmart to make that yummy soup!!! Happy canning all!!

I've been watching for the turkeys here to go on sale, and this is a perfect use for them. I love that you blended the veggies in to the broth! Thank you for the great tips!
