A grief like mine can be contained and pushed way down a long time--like 42 years--but i guess it always wins out. On this recording date, Alan had about 5 weeks left here with us. This song shows his strength in the face of the beast. It wasn't just his brilliance that said no to depression as he wrote this song. It was his raw courage to keep going. Few of us are as strong as he was. He just never never ever gets enough credit for that.
I love Alan Wilson's singing style!!
Blind Owl forever...blues genius personified
Alan had a great voice !!! it really pisses me off when people make fucked up comments about him.He is truly one of my heros !!!
first heard them on "underground' FM in 1969-1970 when I was a teenager..a store in our town back then was named Canned Heat I frequented it......they sold hippie clothes smoking accesories etc...rediscovered the group via youtube a couple of months ago...bought a copy of their first LP this week via ebay and have been listening to it every day since.... Blind Owl was a genius...this group needs to be in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
I'm 27 years old, and always like Canned Heat...but over the past few years, and a ton of listening, I think they have become my all-around favourite group of all time...just love everything they have ever done, which is rare for any band.
One of our greatest recordings... Alan unlike anyone else! Fito plays his ass off on this, great drums!!! Still sounds terrific 45 years later... still proud of this production... Skip Taylor

How the Hell do you Get to use Our Canned Heat Name when I jopined as Official Canned Heat KZread said it had to have a number in front and offered me 116.What a disgrace.
Its too bad we lost Alan, awesome talent ,cool song!
Alan is eternal !!
Awesome jam. The Blind Owl lives on.
Thats THE BLIND OWL!!!! This was one of his best songs, and his last unfortunately, but I love the hard driving groove of the other guys against Alans voice on top, THATS what made the original Canned Heat line-up so great, that combination!!!
Agreed Alan had such Strength !! "He just never never ever gets enough credit for that"
I remember the first time hearing this (It's like walking & finding "GOLD & DIAMONDS" lost and undiscovered for centuries !! - Best Fito's Drums with Alan.
you r so right! what a good comparison between wilson's death and hendrix's. joplin's death was not pretty either though not as bad as jimi's. they all had such bad things that life threw at them and they all tried to (in the blind owl's words) "stand up straight and strong." they were all geniuses and i love all of them and miss them so much!
This could be a hit today!!!!
GREAT song!! Thank you!!
Alan Blind Owl era un músico extraordinario...su voz me gustaba mucho...desde Chile 🇨🇱 saludos al cielo.... por culpa de las malditas drogas murió muy jóven...recién comenzaba a vivír...😥
Mr. wilson is the most interesting rythem guitarist of all time.
o love so much this song... so much!
Shizenheimer! I'm still finding Heat songs I've never heard. Cool man, thanks for this.
Thank you for the tune :)
im in loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Canned Heat rules! Classique!
very good!! a jam band, blues/rock...
Ummmm, what a way wicked cool guitar! Serious bizz folks!. ......fuckin right! Alan kicks fucking cast iron 427 cubic inch fuckin total yessah!!!!
hot damn that's a fast shuffle!
@Ienal It was released by EMI on Uncanned in 1994 and a later Cd in 2005.
¡Bárbaro!, una de las rolas más densas que haya cachado. En 1 975, vi la película Stamping Ground, creo que comenzó con esta pieza. Adolfo De La Parra es un batero severo. Estoy escuchando y viendo quinientas veces y no me canso.
31 years old by the way.... :-) I am fairly sure that my dad had this in his own record gathering thimg...And recall him saying a thing about, hold tight, sometimes songs went straight to europe, but in this cas i dont belive it was so ;) I Just love this song and the message. Never let go in Am
SUPEEEER !
Hey Skip how do we get these guys to the hall?
Nancy our pages are mostly about Music.
Love Kralingen but this is terrific. The Owl still rules.
@HAAKIE48 Thank you
cool, this one is great, to bad Blind Owl left so quickly - what would he be like today? A master could of had such an influence over the years. We'll never know but its kind of fun thinking what affect he would had on the blues over the years.
Boogie On Aaron :)
Crazy, never heard this version before. You are the king, thanks so much!
There is an Up to Date Page on Face Book for Alan run by Canned Heat Official - On our Channel Page on the Right there are Links to our Facebook Page scroll down and see the Official Pages on Alan Wilson - Bob Hite - Henry Vestine - Born to Play in Canned Heat.
I can't find anywhere online to share memories of Alan. The ones I find seem defunct or just dead from no activity since 2009 or earlier. Do you have any info on this? Thanks for anything!
Was this realeased on any album? I can find only version with another vocalist on album "Human Condition".
