Cannabis and the Endocannabinoid System

How does cannabis work in the brain? In this video, we will discuss how cannabis products interact with the brains’ endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system influences many brain functions including mood, memory, and stress. This system uses endogenous molecules called endocannabinoids to send messages to different parts of the brain. This system can be influenced by the presence of cannabinoids, which are found in the cannabis plant. Watch this video to learn more about how endocannabinoids and cannabinoids target different brain regions to alter behaviour and brain function.

I smoked 6 years straight from age 18-24 I have stopped smoking for two weeks bc of lung issues and have felt depression like I’ve never felt before. Nothing seems to be fun or entertaining to me I don’t feel like doing anything. I took anatomy this semester so all this makes sense. Gotta troop it out for another month for my brain to reset. If you smoked cannabis it is pretty normal to get abstinences because Longer use of cannabis can then affect your nervous system because the body produces its own terminal cannabinoids and when you somehow replace them with cannabidiol, the body stops producing it naturally and does not release as much dopamine as when you use cannabis, you can eventually feel more anxious and develop depression so just hang in there!

The authorities make a big deal out of cannabis because it is such a huge threat to many industries. There are even warnings on many videos that talk about hemp - which doesn't have a high enough THC content to make a person high, and it has many industrial uses. But still youtube adds a warning. No warnings about pharmaceuticals though and they are one of the major causes of death. It's so obvious what they're up to. It must be great to have such a simple reliever of headaches. Think of all the people who could have been helped by cannabis but were prevented from doing so because...government.

Dude That’s the worse ! I literally spent 7 years of my late teens 18-25 dealing with the worse imaginable stomach pains caused by high concentration THC levels. Always thought I had cancer somewhere in my stomach just because the way my stomach felt. Decided to quit weed 1st week major withdrawals also made me feel like I was dying. Fast weight loss and anxiety, irritability, depression yadda yadda then the magic happens after the 2nd week. Very little to no more stomach pains at all.. no inflammation, no pain. No feeling of vomiting. I couldn’t believe it. I should have listened to my G.I. Many years ago.. picked up smoking this year January 21st 2023 I told myself I wasn’t going to go crazy fast forward 7 months it’s been 2 days since I last smoked weed. Doing this for mental purposes as I’ve been having a hard time with psychosis, DPDR, Anxiety, Panic and Irritability. Day 2 seems better as I read in an online article that it takes 2 days for the body to start repairing the endocannabinoid system and about 1-2 weeks to have major relief

There is a lot more at play than just dopamine, but as with many other receptor agonists, thc lowers the bodies production of endogenous cannabinoids, leading to dependence and in the case of cannabis, lowered testosterone production. The same goes with opioids, amphetamines and all other receptor agonists. The body will choose agonists with higher affinity over endogenous ones as a means of saving energy, no reason to keep producing dopamine when methamphetamine is 100x stronger.

Maybe if you are sick with cancer, or you are struggling with HIV, marijuana can give you an appetite so you don't lose a massive amount of weight. But steroids and hormone treatments, under proper medical supervision, do the same thing. If marijuana does have other medical value, that still doesn't mean that it should be used recreationally. Cough syrup has medical value, but many teens have used it to get high, which is a bad thing. Marijuana has many negatives, such as panic attacks that can lead one to being hospitalized. It has also been linked to lung damage, cancer, breathing issues, poor cognitive development in its young users, speech and memory problems, loss of ambition and poor academic performance and work performance, low sperm count, and psychosis. It has also been linked to death through severe cyclic vomiting, look up CHS (Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome).
