I had Bivol winning 9 or maybe even 10 rounds. Never seen Canelo dealt with in that manner before. He was being bullied in there and Bivol was getting the better of the exchanges. I think he just bit off more than he can chew and light heavyweight is just a step too far when taking on the best of the best, no shame in that. What a chin Canelo has as he proved again though, took some massive shots in there. I think we now know super middleweight is his limit and he probably still beats everyone in that division. 2 great champions both deserve massive respect!

Bivol is a natural light heavyweight, reigning world champ going in, impecable ring sense, distance control, stunning footwork & highly skilled technically. Canello went up in weight and fought the best Light Heavy Weight in the division, He definitely challenged his self to be great🥊, I think him moving up made him slow and kinda stiff, and it caused him to fatigue early in the fight, I think he should just stay at 168 and defend his titles against the best in the division, I think a rematch will probably be the same result🥊

Canelo has dominated his previous fights because of his power and he hasn't really faced a boxer who was patient and was able to take his punches and counter as well. Bivol is the lightweight champion for a reason and Canelo has reached his ceiling in regards to moving up in weight. He is well suited for Super Middleweight and will reign there until he retires. I don't see Canelo's camp changing his boxing style so he may get hurt in the rematch.

It wasn't fatigue or lack of power that defeated canelo. It was his will and belief that was broken. If you watch the fight carefully there are certain key moments when bivol placed extremely well timed stiff jabs on canelo. The shots that were always there for canelo against other fighters, bivol neutralized with his jabs. Canelo knew at those moments that he was fighting a different beast. I still want to see Alvarez vs Benavides at 168.

That's not quite accurate. The reason Robinson didn't survive is because of the heat took it's tool on him. If not for the heat or if the fight is only for 12 rounds or less, Robinson will easily won. He could have been the first Welterweight Champion to win a Light Heavyweight crown. Imagine what even greater heights could have Robinson achieve.

Don't tell me Reynoso and his team didn't study the tape on him. This was a case of Canelo biting off more than he could chew. Weight is not that big of an issue for Canelo, he stated before the fight that he was ok at this weight and had been training for months leading to this fight. The problem was Bivol's skillset, discipline and gameplan. Stamina has always been an issue for Canelo, not to mention Bivol is a boxer-mover kind of fighter, which directly counters Canelo's plodding and static footwork. Bivol has the skills to keep his distance, and the power to command Canelo's respect. Weight didn't play a part in Canelo landing less than 100 punches throughout the entire match (that's less than 10 punches per round), boxing skills caused that to happen.

As a Canelo fan, this loss broke my heart. I really hope this loss won’t affect his legacy to being one of the best of all time. If he had won against Bivol and fought Usyk, he probably would’ve been top 3 p4p of all time. Canelo truly only cares about his legacy, look at in this interview, he knows he disappointed his fans and he’s obviously super disappointed in himself too. He’s my hero and my idol and it hurts to see him this sad. Boxing has such toxic fans as well, they kick fighters down wether they just lost or wether they’ve just won, there’s no winning with boxing fans. Hopefully Canelo comes back stronger, a big mistake of his during the fight was focusing on Bivol’s left arm to stop the jab from coming out even during the later rounds. He won the 4 first rounds (according to the judges, I had the first round for bivol and the rest for canelo in the first 4) due to the uppercut he kept landing. Come back stronger champ 🥊 Edit: wow some of these people in the comments are proving my exact point, boxing fans are toxic asf. First off, a fight between Usyk and Canelo wasn’t MY IDEA 💀 why is everyone assuming that I gave Canelo the idea to fight Usyk at cruiserweight lmao. If you look at the news before the fight against Bivol, Canelo and Eddie Hearn were already talking about maybe making a fight happen with Usyk at 201. I’m no boxing promoter or manager of Canelo guys, so you can argue and be offended all you want but you’re directing your thoughts to the wrong person.

I've been a fan of boxing for years stop watching for a while due to the politics involved in the unfair judges and decisions and I must admit never been a huge Canelo fan and I do believe that he has been awarded and gifted some decisions and I also think that he has cherry-picked most of his fights since he has been considered such an elite fighter and that's why fans love them because he is the champ and popular and they build them out to be Invincible this is a reality check for Canelo I don't think it will affect his legacy but I do think he should be fighting in a smaller weight class and he should be fighting the elite of the elite and not just people that he thinks are his team thinks that he can beat in my opinion

I think the weight has something to do with it but bivol is also the reason he lost. Bivol is very skilled all around is the naturally bigger guy and had a great gameplan. Canelo tried to fight him the same way he fights everyone else. Stalk him and overpower him. Its a lot harder to do at 175. Not only that but all of his loaded up power shots got deflected or hit gloves and arms all night long. He got tired and frustrated he couldnt hit him with anything meaningful. And he still had to respect bivols punches. I always said the only way you are beating canelo is if he has to respect your power and you have the defense to avoid his power. Bivol showcased both great gameplan and great performance. He barely hit bivol cleanly the whole fight. The 115-113 scorecards were a joke. This fight was more one sided than that but its Canelo they will give him rounds he didnt win. Bivol won at least 8 rounds in this fight.

"Saul, the judges had you 4 rounds up after 4 rounds, how do you feel about that considering you were 3-1 down at best" should be the question. Right man won, but we really shouldn't ignore the atrocious score cards, Canelo won 3 rnds at most. Big respect to Canelo though, still a bit suspect on the PEDs but coming up from Welter to LHW and competing is a win for boxing and puts him in the company of greats like Hearns (who had more of the frame to make it work) and the greatest of all Ray Robinson, who was done for by heat exhaustion on that infamous night against Maxim. Better to try to be great and fail than to accept mediocrity. Bivol is exceptional btw and other than maybe being a bit small at 175, I see him beating Beterbiev who is a physical monster, but far less skilled and versatile. This is nothing more than a blip in a crazy good career for Canelo and there are superb fights available against Charlo, Andrade and GGG at 168 (not sure Benvanidez will make 168 again and will soon be up at 175)

I watched the fight and even though Bivol threw more punches, many of then landed on Canelos forehands/arms/gloves (he blocked them) and according to the scores they counted many of them. Bivol may have won, but Canelo didn't even have a scratch nor a bruise on him. For me it was a draw. The redness on Bivols' arm were not just landing on his arm but were sliding to the side of his face/jaw. Lastly the weight difference or gain surely affected Canelo negatively at least a little. I know many people are happy for Canelos loss, and you will bend everything for spite, these are things racists do. They gifted the win to Bivol.

So much respect for canelo. He could continue fighting other professionals boxers at the same weight he was but as he said, he wanted to get out of his comfort zone and go for bigger challenges. Not only he went for a different weight but also against one beast of professional boxing. Eso es tener huevos y las ganas de superarse cada día

Canelo took a beating it must of took a lot of heart to continue Fighting Till The 12th Round Knowing He Needed A Knock Out To Win And Being Out Boxed And Hit Left And Right Up And Down And Sometimes Wanted To Turn Into A WWE Match.Thats What Makes Warriors I'm Proud Of Him When He Picked Him Up I Was Worried Canelo Was Gonna Slam Him But He Didn't He Did The Right Thing And As For The Other Guy He Was Very Humble With His Victory He Gained A Fan Last Night. One Sided Fight But Still A Great Fight.

Canelo is a pioneer that pushes himself further than most elite sports people, he's truly testing himself so much that we take for granted his record and his prospect of winning in these fights. The fight itself was really interesting Canelo showed a lot of heart but the extra weight didn't allow him to work as he usually would but from Bivols side it was just pure boxing and effective in defense and attack.

i agree but Floyd robbed several Boxers... Maidana, de la hoya & clearly got his ass kicked by Castillo.... and the 118-110 vs Pacquiao was robbery.... why does the media & fans always question Canelo's scoring but accept mayweather bullshit? Canelo only has 1 debatable draw that was against GGG... the others he lost period!! Floyd got his 50th win against UFC McGregor, really? it's racist, to question the Hispanic's record but don't question the blacks man's record... Floyd is not undefeated
