This match was the 6th week of Rosario Lechiara's run that he had throughout the Springtime itself on the show, having to face Dick O'Connell on this show, who was best known by nearly everyone for having won the previous two Championship shows in a row in 1987 and 1988.
This match featured a bit of everything, with high scores (especially in the second game), decent bonus money, and a very exciting finish with everything coming down to the final frame to determine if one of the bowlers could earn their spot on the Championship show later on in August of that year!
