    A butter knife is all you need to dip the wicks! I also use that same butter knife to clean off the edges of that stubborn wax that won't pool. And I use it to cut out the wax when the candle is done. You see where I'm going here. lol

    Thanks so much, since watching your videos I've started burning and melting candles I love how the warmth they have added to my home. I used candle crocks to go through an old stash of candles that I had never burned. Now I'm making ore strategic purchases. I do love the homeworx .

    Oh my gosh... So glad you're doing this. I've actually just started to burn/melt candles "better" this last year or so now that I've learned some things. And....Especially after we just had some interior painting done (we are moving and just sold our home)... and the painter showed us the soot marks made by certain candles... Ouch! So now I've been mindful of that with the types of candles I use. Anyway, thanx so much...

    Great video! I started letting my candles pool all the way out after you mentioned it in another video. I haven’t had any tunneling issues since. Video request: can you do a “Caring for Floral Arrangements 101”? I recently got into having fresh flowers in my home, and would love to get tips from a florist on how to care for them, grocery store and flower market tips, flower food, water temp, etc.

    I buy and burn FAR too many candles. When I moved a couple of years ago from a home I bought new and lived in 10 years...the walls behind frames were full of oily soot. Also, the AC/heat vents had a black oily substance that was difficult to get off. I'm super excited to go watch your video on the candle warmer thingy. LOL I've tried essential oils but I don't have a strong sense of smell and I love strong scents so I've gone back to candles. I love the hint to get the candle to give more scent. Thanks for all you shared! I'm headed to the next video!

    I like to dip the wick just cause that doesn’t put off a lot of smoke like other methods and it let the smell of the candle continue to linger in the room instead the smell of smoke :)

    Many thanks, been searching for "candle making supplies wholesale free shipping" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panlijah Inconceivable Position - (search on google ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for discovering how to become a candle making master and turn a profit without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend got cool results with it.

    I actually have some from Bath and Body Works that fit the HOmeworx. But they are the larger cylinder style that I can remove the insert from or one's that did not come with an insert :) Other than that, check out Home Goods. I see HUNDREDS of hurricanes there that would happily fit a HOmeworx candle lol.

    I was surprised to learn that Harry recommends placing the lid on his candles to extinguish the flame. I don’t like to do this on any candle, for the same reasons you stated in this video. I have a question for you, should the wicks be trimmed on the Homeworx candles before the first burn?

  • @MrKongsMom

    @MrKongsMom

    No, never on a Homeworx. They are the length they should be for the first burn. It could affect the burn if you do that.

    Thanks for the candle burning tips. Do you know how long a homeworx candle will last? Is it the same wax as a bath & body works candle? I'm wondering because I probably will not burn all my homeworx this year. I'm hoping they will still be good to burn next summer. What do you think?

  • @MrKongsMom

    You'll be fine saving homeworx till next summer :) Their wax blend should last a few years. My fall candles still smell as strong as they did when I got them.

    When I use a ring of foil, I make sure it is a little bigger than my jar and comes a couple of inches over the top. I pinch the top in a little. Something else I have started doing, since this does have a tendency to smother out barely burning wicks, is for a ring of foil 4" wide by 6" tall, I make 4 evenly placed holes around the bottom, about the size of a penny. It causes a chimney effect, letting more air in the bottom as the candle burns up what is inside the foil wrap. I really wouldn't recommend leaving especially a foil wrapped candle alone for long at all.
