Candace Owens & ‘Christ Is King’ | Ep 974

Today, we're discussing the recent social media controversy over the use of the phrase, "Christ is King," in the wake of Candace Owens' departure from the Daily Wire. Some have alleged the phrase can be used as an anti-Semitic dog whistle, while others say there's not reason to refuse to state the obvious truth that Christ IS king. We discuss whether there is any truth behind these claims, as well as the responses from Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing, Andrew Klavan, and Nick Fuentes.

As a Christian woman in my 60s, I encourage all Christians to read the entire Bible in context, considering who was speaking, and who they were speaking to and the culture at that time. To my shame, I listened to motivational sermons that took one verse out of context for many years. I loved the Lord, but certainly did not know his word, and therefore did not truly know him. After reading the entire Bible now five times, I am getting more and more out of it. Understanding Genesis to Revelation, makes the atonement, and everything about what Christ did for us have meaning. I would not be equipped to even discuss the placement of Israel, or the true character of my savior himself without knowing his word. I am forever grateful that God in his mercy and grace was so patient with me.♥️

Good for you! And it is important to read the bible as a whole and be wary of people who take one verse weaponize it and use it for selfish benefit. (Mathew 4) Even the devil knows the bible and used it when tempting Jesus so it can be a tool for good and evil. I've seen so many men especially who cherry-pick verses to elevate themselves above women but take NO time at all to contemplate their own which are much more profound directives actually.

I am saddened by the mocking of Jesus. I am reminded quickly that the same thing happened to Jesus in the flesh. They flogged him, put a crown of thorns on his head & draped him in a purple robe while they mocked him and slapping him in the face. They shouted “all hail, king of the Jews”. The same thing is happening when these people mock His name in this way. I love listening to you spread the gospel.

Having said that, weaponizing the Bible and battling with Shapiro on the public stage isn't a great Christian witness. As Christian's, we are called to bring glory to God in every word and deed. I don't think that is what is happening here.

Yes, thank you! I immediately distrust any phrase that seems to pop up out of nowhere and is suddenly everywhere. I’m a believer and this particular phrase is not something I say or hear said particularly often. Things like, “No King but King Jesus”, from the Revolutionary War…ok, I’ve heard that, and would immediately recognize it and its context. Celebrating Resurrection Sunday by saying, “Christ is risen”-I don’t come from a traditional, high-church background, but that’s not unusual to hear or say in that context. But this particular phrase…sounds very political to me. Yes, Jesus is the King of Kings, He’s the King of my heart, and yes, He’s coming back (!!!) to rule and reign as King…but His rule over this earth hasn’t been made manifest yet. This particular phrase is not something I feel a need to take part in; I have nothing to prove, and there are much better ways to share the gospel.

Tpie5940, are u a Christain? Candace did Nothing Wrong. She is giving glory & honor to a Title, a Crown that belong to Jesus, no one should b shy to state, “Pax Christi”, The Social Kingship of Christ has been taught from Apostles to today. The sick anti-Christ people , who have gained far too much power & influence in America, have had great success with weak Christian’s by brow beating them, calling names, threats, etc, so that they r more concerned with offending people that r anti-Christ, than acknowledging His title. Remember, it was Ben who started open hostility with her when he angrily castigated her to a crowd bc Ben is treasonously sycophantic toward a foreign country, as he is a committed Sayanim, and loses his mind when “ this foreign country “ is criticized. And if any claim to b Christain and don’t criticize this foreign country for its carpet bombing entire blocks, neighborhoods, using white phosphorus indiscriminate bombing to incinerate, shut off all water, electric and food to millions, last several weeks destroying tons of food on trucks donated by world, numerous atrocities that easily fit the same definition of genocide that Israel relied on in condemning So. Africa, I suggest u are a coward if u don’t stand up for Christain morality… which is very different from the demonic rabbinic talmudism. Ben had no business sticking his nose into Candace quoting St Matthew, it was not about Ben, as she had been undergoing Bible study and religious education very intently… Ben is a fraud. He is not about free speech. Says he despises Identity Politics, but he admitted his politics is primarily grounded in his Jewish duty to protect Israel . He admitted on stage that his loyalty to the USA is dependent on US benefiting Israel. That should not b ok for any American. Moreover, they have not been a friend of US in any real sense, lots of words, no substance. Peace

If u don’t know by now that Ben is 100% Israel first, u can’t b helped. Heck, he admitted it in an interview, on camera. He becomes irrationally unhinged on criticizing Israel. And Candace has been for quite a while been involved In intense Bible study & religious education, it’s been quite often she’s been referencing scripture for a long time now. And this was the Most Holy Week of the Year for all Christian’s, her St Matthew quote had nothing to do with Shapiro , he stuck his nose in bc he was angry she, like any well informed, morally rational Christian should, expressed concern for all the dead babies, both Palestinian and Israeli…. and later asked if Israeli response was so grossly disproportionate, inhumane….which is impossible for any truely moral Christain not to also think. Christain morality is far superior, not the same, as the demonic rabbinic talmudism of modern Jewry they all started following by 5 th century AD.

It's great they're out there to bring interest & curiosity to this topic and to bring hope too but when it's obsessed over in radical zealous ways, this only turns more ppl off as they regard it as a cult and become desensitized and stop caring about talking about it anymore. We have to watch the boundaries b/c ppl don't take important things seriously when they're over-emotionalized. It reminds me of the overuse of the word 'love' or 'hate' too. We overuse the buzz words and do love bombing and then wonder why so much cynicism follows that kind of radical and immature behavior.

I have observed her since 2016 and she says one great thing of truth one day and the next, tells a super lie that contradicts all of her so-called integrity. She is in love w/herself - huge ego and so two-faced that it's unbearable. She will just hop on her next grift. When you're this kind of narcissist, it gets harder and harder to turn back and change. Also, it's obvious she is greedy and also a shallow celeb gossiper as her news shows are mostly ranting about celebs she hates. Then she calls herself a Christian just b/c she's converting for her husband to his faith - not for herself and yet can't quote bible scriptures right. It's deeply sad who she is and what she continues to become in her grifting schemes - a silly childish hipster who hops on whatever trend is working for her at the moment.

How can you (someone who is very knowledgeable about Christianity) not know that the Muslim faith not only doesn’t “disdain everything about the Christian moral order” but actually not only believes in Jesus Christ but also sees Jesus as a prophet of God. They believe in everything Christian’s do, they just additionally believe in Muhammad and believe him to also be a prophet as well. Do you honestly not already know this or are you purposely misleading your viewers on how Muslims actually see Christians for some other reason you’re not sharing? I would hate to think it’s the latter, however speaking with such authority on another religion while not actually knowing anything about it is pretty shameful as well. Islam and Christianity have much more in common than Christianity and Judaism. To believe anything otherwise only shows you have been fooled as to who your allies are. I would then suggest asking yourself who or what has led you to incorrectly identify those who honestly respect your religion and faith in Jesus, and those who call you an idol worshipping and claim Jesus to be a false prophet.

Many Christians are very uncomfortable with the Jewish expression of the faith. Really almost every ministry trip at a mega church has had some sort of physical threat. Most of our ministry team had to get security training ( including myself and our teenage daughters) because we didn't have funding to hire someone. We ministered to the church and always will. Thank you again, Allie Beth, I am diving back in to God's word, and praying for discernment. Lastly, as my sister has been talking about, as we have been shocked to see the old "The Jews killed Jesus" bit. She and I agree - no. I killed Jesus. You killed Jesus. Our sin was only paid for by Jesus's birth, death and resurreccion! My sister also years ago, took down her posters with Christian sayings on them back when we were in University. I asked what in the world ate you doing? She said she realized she "had a 'bumper sticker' relationship with God. That she was letting posters that used to point her to Jesus had taken the place of prayer and study of God's Word. I think maybe some of the phrase used on " X" may be similar. Praying all of this will somehow be used to direct people to Jesus. Thank you again, extremely useful and moving.

Only Christ (who is, in fact, King) can take a situation like this and turn it for His glory and our good. Pray for those that proclaim Christ’s sovereignty out of selfish motives and pray for those that have not yet accepted this truth in their hearts, but rejoice that this truth is being spoken and may those who speak it do so with eternal joy and gratitude. “Christ is King” should be sung by all God’s children at the foot of His throne of grace for only by His grace are we made His children. If such a truth is shared with malice or pride or any other petty motivation, then it cannot sing in the hearts of those that desperately need such a King. But if this truth is spoken in love and only in love, then His Kingdom will grow. So with hearts softened with grace may we all sing: Christ is King, Christ is King, Christ is King! ✝️

Not so. I'm a devout Christian who has had many Muslim friends, and some Jewish ones too, and there was no tension between us. We can be friends without agreeing on everything, or even on the most important things. That would limit the depth of our friendship, true, but we can still be friends.

I am a Christian and I believe that Christ is king. However I do not think that Jesus would like someone (in this case Candace) to utter that message to provoke another group rather than to assert an act of faith. Candace uttered with the intention of provoking Jews rather than for expressing love towards Jesus. This is what annoys me. She is quite clever when she puts out a message and many of her newfound followers (Hebrew Israelites, pro Palestine leftists and anti semitic blacks) will cling on to her because of this. Never use religion for clout and power on social media, religion comes from the heart.

Christ is most definitely King, which is what makes the trolling so bad. Aside from the trolls invoking Christ as a mean girl slogan,we now have people just now reading headlines that "saying Christ is King is now antisemitic", and they don't necessarily know how all this came about. So they double - triple down on the scripture (as I would too!). Luckily, the Bible holds power and truth. So paradoxically, all this can only lead to good. 😊 to the dismay of those who used the Bible for ill intentions. I just smile and agree! God always wins.

But what we should always strive to do, is be on God's side of things and preach the gospel, and not get caught up in everyone elses opinions and debates. When I hear the gospel preached , as you so eloquently did. I get excited , and am so greatful that I know who the true King is . My Lord and savior Jesus Christ!! Thank again!

Christ is King. You can’t take the love of God and turn it into hate. Try as you might. Truth is Truth. Christ is King and He is my King. Whether Israel sees Christ as King or not it does nothing to change the fact that He is King of Jews and Gentiles. Your belief in Him makes no difference in His authority. Your lack of love for Him does nothing to diminish His love for you. He died and conquered death for all. He provides the path of reconciliation and forgiveness for all. King of kings.

@@cynthiabarrow509The devil used scripture and twisted it for his own purposes. The mere fact that someone uses Christian language, must not make us as naïve as possible. Both Paul and Jesus rebuked the demonic even when they uttered true propositions. In this context, when peple use Christian language in order to promote Hamas propaganda concerning the middle east conflict one ought to be cautious. Ben Shapiro even invited John MacArthur, William Lane Craig and other theologians who proclaimed the gospel boldly. Shapiro had no issue with Christians making gospel truth claims. They went far beyond a simple one-liner. This is not about the gospel. This is politicizing Christian language for ulterior purposes. Reminds me of liberal theology.
