Jared I just recently discovered your channel! I live in Vancouver as well, came here when I was 11 now 27. My Tagalog is broken and my mother tongue language Ilocano is faintly there due to my family and I only speaking English at home. I’ve been speaking Tagalog and Ilocano a lot more lately because I realized how I blessed I am to be able to speak multiple languages. What I like about your Tagalog is you don’t throw in english words when you speak unlike the modern filipino today. This is what I like, this is what genuine and true filipino speaker should sound like.

Poder hablar español te coviertes como un filipino en su sentido original - hablar español y tagalo, entre tantos idiomas que hay en Filipinas. Mucho ánimo y gracias por aprender el tagalo. Saludos desde Filipinas. Ojala un día nos visites aquí.

I thought that being able to speak Spanish would confer an advantage in learning Tagalog. WRONG!!! In fact, I think it has been a hindrance. I had to adopt an entirely new learning strategy for Tagalog. It's HARD, and rare for (most) English-speakers to acquire, but it's well worth the effort! If you can speak/understand even a little Tagalog, you can chat with 10 Pinoys and you'll walk away with 7 new friends! The other 3 may be very confused 😂 ❤🇺🇸❤️🇵🇭❤️🇨🇦❤️🇲🇽

Tagalog, Ilocano, Spanish,(some English) spoken. Impressive dude! 👍 Btw, Filipinos call their respective languages, "dialects." I know it's wrong but I just let it be to avoid argument. I asked a Filipino lady once why she referred to their languages as "dialects." She said it's what has been taught in school and while growing up. So, Tagalog, Ilocano, Bisayà (Cebuano), Kapampangan, Hiligaynón (Ilonggo), Waray, Chavacano, Tausúg, Maranao, Maguindanón, and others are "dialects" for most Filipinos even though they're actual living languages. A "dialect" is a variation within a language. Say for example, Tagalog has three main dialects, namely NCR, Batangas and Bulacan. Within Bicolandia, there exists several dialects of Bicolano, ie, the variety spoken in Sorsogón is different from the one in Naga. So when you meet a Filipino, just refer to their languages as "dialects" to avoid confusion and argument even though it's wrong.

It still doesn't change the fact Ilocano is actually not a "rare" language. The title was not subjective, and indicated it was objective. I am sure Jared was aware Ilocano is not actually "rare" and did some research before posting the video. Effectively it was clickbait. It seems he changed the title, due to likely others pointing it out. I enjoy his videos, but strange he had a clickbait title.@@ehdiwowin8412
