Maine Trail Cam Adventures - Canada Lynx in Maine 2023 Part 1.
A month of trail camera footage in northwestern Maine from two different locations. It's lynx breeding season, and they are getting vocal! I hope you all enjoy footage of this mystical animal. I will be making part two as soon as I get back up there and check the cameras. Oh, and I put out a third! As always thanks for watching.

Thanks so much. The legs on lynx are just so unique. I laugh each time they shake them. Wonderful stuff.

I’m curious why you would know to place a camera at the second location, where a lynx seemed to hang out. Maybe a lot of tracks or sign they/it were hanging out there..?

@@deborahferguson1163 Exactly tracks and sign. Glad you enjoyed the footage!
They've been my favorite wild cat since I was 7. I used to collect pictures of them to put up in my room. This made me so happy to see them like this in their natural habitat. Wonderful pics of them and the vocalization was amazing to hear! This is like seeing unicorns to me. Thanks so much for posting and so pleased you had a great time as well. Cute doggie too!

I'm so glad glad you enjoyed the video Praxilla, and thank you so much for sharing your story, they are becoming one of my favorites as well. I agree Stryder is a cutie. He'll be a year old on March 25th. My partner in crime. LOL
Thank you so much for posting this. I regard the lynx as a regal animal. I have never seen better raw and more natural footage of this magnificent animal than this. I have used trail cameras in my environmental law enforcement job for the past 16 years. Your selection of the camera sites in all that vast forest was obviously spot on - well done sir. These cats are not often seen by most, except but by cool cats who venture way out in the real forest. The shot at 09:48 was precious. A big stretch. Who hasn't seen our own domestic shorthair house cats do the exact same thing? Whether it's a lynx, tiger, panther, ocelot or a lion - very similar behaviors. The thick fur coat of the lynx is amazing. No animal is better suited to the bitter cold. Cats have been enormously successful in evolution. There isn't a more skilled and agile predator. A 500-pound African lion has nothing on a 39-lb lynx in attitude. Every bit as ferocious and regal - a pure hunter and survivor. For me, in the top of the best trail camera footage I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. It's because of how many different behaviors of the cats that were captured. The sound when the lynx was sniffing the camera, the stretch, laying down in front of the camera, meow -howling, the flipping of those huge paws to make a sitting pad, coming by after they've eaten with blood on their face (not an unpleasant amount). Priceless.

Thank you so much for the kind words Tim. I'm completely in awe of Canada lynx, and as you said they certainly are regal. I've still got 2 cams up there, and last check I put a 3rd. Hopefully I'll have more footage soon.

You know I was expecting some purring and maybe low-sounding growls and cat sounds, but nothing like all that screaming that was going on? lol Boy, they can be noisy huh? loved watching them open their mouths and hear that scream come out. Was nice to learn something new about the wild cats, that it isn't always what we might be expecting huh?

I'm a cat lady, so I naturally LOVE all cats! :D and dogs, hamsters, gunnie pigs, iguana's, bird's, pet rats, other lizards, etc. Raised two sons' so we tried allot of different animals to raise. Our two cats & Dog lived the longest for us. Was so sad when my gunnie pig died, she was such a talker :) looks like she/he found your camera in the beginning part? was funny how she/he was sniffing it so hard? lol

Wow a couple of those were good sized bobcats. I’ve seen them in the next to my old house in the field. I’ve also seen what I believe was a wolf in that same field, it was chasing a huge buck. Went out in the field later and the paw prints was ginormous, I know we’ve got some good size coyotes too, but this was just unbelievable big.. I wish now that I had taken pictures, because nobody believes me. But it’s alright, I know what I saw.. This was probably 20 plus years ago now.. Thank you for these awesome videos, I love seeing how well our wildlife is doing. I’ve never heard anything like the noise a bobcat makes, that’s really wild..

It was from a road killed deer, provided by the state of Maine.
Wow! what a beautiful animal! and very weird sounding? lol like what kind of sound could we call that yelling? sure not friendly like a housecat's meow's lol Sounds more like a defiant, scream? like it's staking out it's territory or something? and letting the whole world know it! :)

They definitely do sound strange, that was a female in estrus, which only last a couple of days.
HOLY CRAP! Colin this is freakin awesome! I have been thinking to myself that I might have to go set a camera far away enough from where our place is to catch these guys. I have not had too much activity on my cameras as of late with the deeper snow and cold... February is probably the quietest time in the forest up here.

True Story, We have property in Monson Maine and one day while cutting trees, I can see my Wife frantically waving for me to come to her. I shut the chainsaw and walk over and she say's " look over there,it's a Lynx. I see it about 60 feet away sitting while looking right at us. I yell and throw a stick but it doesn't flinch. This is not normal and I am worried it could be rabid. Maybe the sound of a gunshot might spook it off so I get my gun and come back out and it's still there watching us. But instead of firing a warning shot, I keep my sight on it and try to close the distance between us. My Wife thinks I'm nuts but I keep going, closer, closer, closer. Then I get a really good look at it. It's a broken tree stump. Same height as a Lynx pointy ears and all. I told my Wife I was going to go pet it. She's freaking out and telling me to stop. I love showing guests on our property our local pet Lynx.
