Can you TARGET Whiting on lures in Perth's Swan River? | Land Based Perth Fishing

In this week's video, I try to catch some whiting on lures in another land based Swan River fishing adventure! Always trying to think of unique videos to make rather than something that's been done 100 times. Hope you enjoy! Will be doing some topwater whiting fishing down south this summer.

I was fishing under the narrows one night, I went for a walk up on top of the bridge, looked over the edge and seen a 10 foot shark. I use to drag a prawn net in the river, never again.

Hey man, love the videos, I’m new to Perth and the fishing here is a lot different to what I’m used to… so these videos have helped a lot! Just bought my first light outfit and heading out this weekend. Would be cool to see a video on your tackle/set up and what you’d recommend for different conditions and different species!

That’s an epic video mate, I’m considering buying a double clutch for the Swan River, do you think it’s a solid lure?? Or should I be buying some other lures, I want to get into hardbodies as I’m always getting eaten by blowies on soft plastics!

  • @LightTackleAnglerWA

double clutch is very good, just be always thinking of if the depth it's working is where the fish are. perfect for the flats. maybe buy a vibe too to have some more versatility.

Hey man, just to let you know these are actually Trumpeter whiting, also known as "Winter whiting", they are a smaller deeper water species and believe it or not these are actually the adults haha, they are quite small only growing to around 30cm and rarely above 25cm. They can look quite similar to other species as they often have bright yellow fins and no markings, however if you ever keep one blotches should start to appear along the sides, and the silver strip down middle is also a key feature, as well as the abnormally large head and relatively small eye for the size of fish. Awesome vid man none the less and a great guide for beginners for sure, good stuff man🤙

@@LightTackleAnglerWA The swan has some absolute HORSE Yellowfin!! But for some unknown reason they are pretty damn smart 😂, way smarter than Mandurah Yellowfin at least, I've got no idea why haha but always found it interesting. And yea all the little ones look so similar, southern schools have a rosy pink sheen to their scales and feel a lot more fragile, most common whiting by far in summer along the coast and I wouldn't be surprised if that exact spot gets dominated by them as the weather warms a bit, and I'm 100% certain some big Yellowfin swim through there, just gotta get through another 100 trumpeter whiting haha, cheers man🤙 Just a quick side note, not to add any more confusion, but there's also the Western school whiting, which funny enough is rarer than all the others, and looks like a perfect hybrid between them all, lol 😂.
