Here in Taiwan, we have embankments near rivers to prevent floods when there are typhoons, and we plant many trees to prevent mudslides.
Bangladesh has now become a role model in disaster management that the world beholds and take cognizance of .Proud to be a Bangladeshi 🇧🇩.
For a person living in Japan, the voice of Professor Lucy is quite insightful. The important thing is we all need to face any disasters and I'd like to take into account just in case of great earthquakes that may hit down the road.
Amazing and informative as always, thank you.👍🏻❤ Great team, thank you Nail and Beth 🙏🏻
Thank you BBC Learning English for this useful content.. 🙏
Recently, or more precisely, 10 days ago, I read an article about a fierce forest fire which blazes spread so uncontrollably that is described as a blowtorch. It is undeniable that globe is facing numerous the number of natural disasters and climate crises in general such as global warming, extreme heat or earthquakes, hurricanes and so on. Speaking of terrible natural disasters , a typhoon has struck in my country a few days ago causing flash floods and landslides, mainly in mountainous areas . I Hope that i conveyed this news accurately as i wasn’t strongly or intentionally focus on the today midday weather forecast and i don’t have decent knowledge of weather and climate. Btw, currently in my neighborhood it is drizzling outside and due to these continuous rainy days,my father and i are catching colds and suffering from sore throats. We hope to be back on our feet soon.
Thanks for making the vocabulary written in the description box as I have suggested before thanks a lot

Cats and Dogs are also members of many families. So it is good that the shelter is not only for people but also animals. Anyway, People in my country often face devastating natural disasters. Animals could enter evacuation centers , but it is said that families with animals face difficulties. Any solution is needed in the case that we must stay long at shelters.

How do climate change and increasing population affect the possibility of natural disasters like earthquakes?
Acts of God, fatalism, evacuation, megaphone and livelihood😀
Unfortunately, more than 60,000 people died in Türkiye after the huge eartquake. And still occurs time to time...

Hi from 🇺🇿🇺🇿🇺🇿
people will be super regretful in the future if they don't pay attention to that issue seriously.
Can we stop the natural disaster.? There are various types of disasters that cause major harm to humans and their lives for instance earthquakes, flood, drought and cyclone( most common in Bangladesh and they have megaphones which announce the warning of cyclone so that people can go to the safer places which made by government and safely returned to their livelihoods after cyclone fade off. We can not stop natural disaster form occurrence but the prevention is in our grasp we can limit the damage.

Hi
Thanks BBC My summary while listening In the last decade, an estimated half million people have died globally in natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and cyclones. In 2023, at least 60,000 people died after earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Things are predicted to get worse due to climate change and increasing populations. According to Professor Lucy Easthope, the worst thing people do at a disaster conference is to describe a disaster as "natural". Because this is hopelessness right there since the "natural" implies a sense of fatalism and a sense of "let's give up now". However, there are huge elements we have in our grasp to prevent additional harm. From Professor Ilan Kelman, what Bangladesh has realized is that they cannot have 100,000 people dying in a cyclone each time. In addition to having people on bicycles with megaphones going out and saying "Look, a cyclone is coming, please get to shelter." People in the danger zones have grown up accepting that their shelters will be safe, knowing where the evacuation routes are. Most importantly, they can return afterward to their homes and to their livelihoods because they've built the infrastructure and their jobs in order to avoid being destroyed by the cyclone.

God does not cause the natural disasters occurring today, but he is concerned about people who are affected by them. Natural disasters are one of the causes of suffering that God’s Kingdom will eliminate. In the meantime, God provides comfort for those who are affected by natural disasters (Bible, 2 Corinthians, chapter 1, verse 3. Which of the following questions would you like to have answered: 1) Why can we be sure that natural disasters are not punishment from God? 2) Are natural disasters a sign of the times? 3) How does God help victims of natural disasters? 4) Can the Bible help with natural-disaster preparedness?
