    one big thing about adjusting a gap This Big is that you change your voice's "texture" in the lower/higher registers...in the "Actual Singing" track, its got the scratchiness, the raspiness, the FORCE behind the words...in the "2 Octaves Lower", it sounds like straight-up falsetto because your lower voice was a lot 'cleaner'...the "In-Betweeny" track did have some of that rasp, but it sounded more like 'doing an Impression' of Rob Halford, compared to 'singing like' Rob Halford...

    Hey, quick tip for melodyne. When it gets confused and represents a note as way too low (like the one that you moved manually) press on that wrench icon and from there you can fix any notes that were mis-read. Then click back to the original screen.

Your range is about 17 octaves, you have so much power, such excellent control and awareness, really really good pitch precision... you also are one of those Finnish people who have a very minimal accent. This doesn't happen with Swedish people, but it happens with a fair few Finns.

    I love the video! There are a couple of songs I sing in the car, and the singer(s) just go one or two notes higher than I'm able to. I would imagine if I'm using pitch correction, I'll just sing the notes I can't hit at my highest natural level, and continue singing when the notes come down again, and then adjust the bits that I needed help with. I'm looking to create a voice model with AI to re-sing a couple of songs with a different singer....if that makes sense. Like swapping John Lennon for Paul McCartney, or Glenn Frey for Don Henley. Things like that. This was great info!

    I think another important thing to consider is the way you shape vowels on different 'heights'. If you sing very high, your mouth will be wide open and maybe sound way more nasal. I wonder what it would sound like if you'd sing very low but use the mouth movements of a high vocal. Great video man! You're an amazing singer/musician.

    @@moonicproductions I am using voicelive on stage. If I use it for an auto pitch correction or for transposing (adding harmony voices) I always hear these artfacts. It is like if the bitstream of video is to low. Sharp, high pitched additional frequency. It seems to be especially me, not liking them. I have to live with it on stage... in the studio I prefer a retry. However one octave up sounded interesting as my voice gets very thin for higher notes. I loose the pressure, while you seem to gain it. I can use headvoice only as a style element and it is very different as well. But melodyne seems no solution... as are the other pitch manipulation tools I tried.

  • @MariP10

    @MariP10

    I have used Melodyne extensively in the past, particularly for mixing group/choir vocals (recorded by several vocalists located in different parts of the world). I have to say that it has amazing capabilities if you become well versed in it. You can fine tune so much, split up notes, change the pitch modulation, change note length and amplitude etc. You can not only "fix" pitch issues, but also timing issues with surgical precision. Obviously, the way Melodyne was used in this video was in a very general way. Any software that is used for extreme pitch shifting will lead to a very unnatural sound. But yeah, I think you should definitely give it a try before dismissing it. Also, you can use Melodyne for instruments as well :)

    I don't know if I'm baritone but I'm at least an unfortunate soul who has no range :( so for me where Melodyne shines is background vocals. It can never be Halford-esque, but you can really mask the mickey mouse flaws when harmonizing. I hope you never take your amazing range / voice for granted. I would consider that a superpower right up there with flying and I'd probably choose singing like prime Chris Cornell over flying
