Can You Ride An E Bike To Work? | Talaria Sting Commute To Save Gas Money

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

With gas pricing soaring out of control, I wanted to demonstrate an alternative method of traveling to and from work.
In this video I show you what it is really like to commute on an Ebike. I rode my new Talaria Sting to and from work, about 5-7 miles, each day for a week before filming this video. When I filmed it I was in the middle of a test to se how far I could get on a single charge, with a twist. See Ebike manufacturers often exaggerate their range estimates, and a "real world test" set in eco mode, trying to maximize distance just don't give a good representation of living with an Ebike. I rode my bike to work the way I normally do: at the speed limit to make my commute convenient. When it comes to adding something to your life you can't expect to have the luxury of riding in eco mode both ways or even having full power all the way home.
Commuting on an Ebike is extremely, peaceful, fun, and cost-effective. I thoroughly enjoy my time riding in silence, able to contemplate whatever it is I have going on in my head. I love being creative and looking for new places to ride my bike on the way to work, for the days I have extra time. The fact that, in my first month of commuting on my Ebike, I saved over $200 in gas money alone is just a bonus!
Thank you so much for watching, spreading this information, and sticking with my channel as it grows. I am loving creating new videos each week and hope to do so for a long time. So thank you for reading my write-up on each video, and the support.

    I have around a 20 mile round trip to work. I use around 50% on sport mode riding between 25-40mph mainly on the road.

    Thank you! So that is a tricky question. My particular bike has an issue with the display so currently I can’t change the modes. Ebikezilla warranties the parts and now I’m just waiting for them to arrive. That being said, on road it is sport, and technical off-road I put it in eco.

    Thanks bro. Honestly it’s a weird gray area. I’d say ride at your own risk, legally. The law doesn’t define these well because scooters are defined by displacement of the engine. No internal combustion means no displacement. But it’s not a normal bicycle. Nor do you register it like a dirt bike or motorcycle. My advice is to be respectful to others where ever you are riding. That way everyone can enjoy their day

    Whats the rule for riding the Talaria on the main road? Any police ever stop you?

  • @haveagoodoneyt

    @haveagoodoneyt

    Жыл бұрын

    No issues so far. It’s a grey area legally. It’s definitely not a motorcycle (legally), there is no way to title it. It’s not a scooter as that requires a displacement of less than 50cc. No internal combustion means no displacement. But it most certainly isn’t a bicycle, and it’s faster than a normal “e-bike”. My advice is to understand that it’s a weird, new, exciting category. We have an opportunity to help the public see us as we want. So be respectful to others around you in public when you’re riding so we keep these things legal. Other than that enjoy and have a good time. That’s what they’re made for.

    What state are you in and do you get hassled at all by law enforcement? I just pulled the trigger on a Talaria in California. I am intending to use it as a commuter as well and willing to chance it to save gas in this god for saken state.

    I was in Texas for this video. No harassment which was nice. I just didn’t like that everywhere I went it felt like there would be a Karen around the corner ready to chew me out. Other than that feeling though most interactions with people were really chill. They just thought it looked cool or had questions about it.

    Haven't gotten the same range myself, but could be related to weight, speed and terrain (hills etc.) May I ask your weight and is/was your Sting stock at the time?

    Bikes aren’t supposed to be on the sidewalk, let alone a dirtbike. People like you are gonna get these things banned for all of us.

  • @haveagoodoneyt

    @haveagoodoneyt

    2 жыл бұрын

    I disagree, at least in my area. Here we don’t have any bike lanes so people have to ride their bicycles on the sidewalks and that’s just what everyone does. (You can see that in my video with the women at the crosswalk) I’ve talk to any and every officer, security guard, pedestrian, etc. I can and ask them about this bike. And to my surprise everyone is cool with it. The park security guards and police officers tell me that I just need to be respectful and not blast down a sidewalk when others are around. Other than that everyone loves the ebikes. Now this is for my local area. If the laws are different in your area then just stick to what the authorities say as I have done.
