Can You Ride An E Bike In A RAINSTORM!? | Talaria Sting Ebike In A Downpour
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It was a bright and sunny morning, on the ride to work. Then BAM! Out of nowhere a thunderstorm strikes a few hours before my shift ends. The rain pouring down on the roof, my bike and I left helpless by the timeclock. After a few hours of my Talaria Sting soaking my shift ended. As I walked out to my bike I couldn't help but feel my heart beginning to race as I wondering if my electric bike would even start. To my astonishment, and relief, it fired up as if we had just been parked outside a Tesla factory, in the middle of the desert.
The ride home was, well... wet. With my windbreaker, jeans, and running shoes doing little to protect me from the elements, I settled in for my commute. If you want to see how that normally goes check out my other video, • Can You Ride An E Bike... While riding massive trucks sped their way past me, water splashed up on the visor of my helmet, blocking my vision, and lightning struck with such ferocity it must have been charging the bike itself. If you haven't guessed yet I thoroughly enjoyed my damp departure from work. It was an excellent change of pace, and gave me an opportunity to test out my new machine.
As for the bike. It held up marvelously, as any adventure vehicle should. The tires gripped the wet pavement well, the powertrain and suspension held their own without a sweat, and the lack of noise meant that every puddle, rather lake I ran though, felt as if I was skimming through it. The only link in the Talaria's chain, weakened by the storm, was the front brake. From the first set-off it screamed in pain as it attempted to hold to its duties. Even allowing it to warm up, and dry off didn't help recover its strength. So with one very important link in shambles, the bike couldn't be ridden to its electrifying potential in the rain.
So as for riding something powered by the very thing that sends us to our grave and brings us back from the dead, in an environment that provokes its very escape from our thin-walled prison... it was extremely fun!
Thank you so much for watching and reading this description. I enjoy writing about each video here. So if you like what I'm doing and enjoy an entertaining write-up on each video, then stay with me and I guarantee you'll be entertained.

I ride a cheaper e-bike, and it's absolutely miserable in the rain but it's certainly doable. I always have to remember to bring my good boots when I do it though.
Really glad I found you channel. I just got my Talaria and would like to kno how it is other weather conditions. Def gave a sub. I look to record more footage. Looking forward to sharing some ebike tips and tricks. Thanks for posting

You've got a lot of trust in your city, no lock on the bike and leaving it out in the open? That's wild 😂😂😂
Just was driving in 30cm or 1 foot deep powder snow and that was such a great feeling but now I'm wondering if the Talaria is watertight but thanks to your video I'm sure that this won't hurt the Bike 😁🤘
Surprised to see you left your bike outside like that.

For sure. It’s a pretty special store
How has the motor and electronics held up after riding in the rain after some time was the motor ok?
No problems later? Like kick stand sensor?
Is there anything you can do to better prepare your brakes for rain ?
What happens later with the motor?
Nothing like real time to prove a point.
Dang, normally, like 3 extended brakings would remove the water unless there's residue on the brake pads and disc. It's Alot Safer to give them a quick wipe down before heading out in the rain on an EBike.👍

Yea I thought it was weird that they almost never cleared too. I was thinking that maybe the stock pads are porous and soak up the water. Just a theory 🤷♂️
Should be fine just saw a guy ride through a river on his talaria with water up to the bars.and he dropped it in the middle and had to turn it off and restart because of the tip sensor.not recommended to fully submerge but I have seen a sur-ron do the same so it seems like water isn't too much of an issue?

Couldn’t agree more. Of course I rode in that torrential downpour, I’ve ridden through the ocean, and pressure washed my Talaria. I don’t think it cares about water
Currently testing this, my talaria x3 is sitting outside in the Kansas storm that'll be going for about 11 hours straight on my 10 hour warehouse shift. I'll give you guys an update on my stupid experiment.

@haveagoodoneyt I completely forgot I commented on this ngl😂 I went out after my shift and turned on the bike thinking I was gonna get some kind of error on the speedometer screen, but to my surprise the bike turned on and took me home from my job at amazon no problem. So it is very water resistant, but definitely let it dry before charging👍👍

@haveagoodoneyt

It needs a key to be started. Of course it can be rolled away or even just picked up in a truck bed or van. So like @yodawassith said a disc lock with an alarm is a really solid and practical deterrent.

@@haveagoodoneyt really nice and a tough bike. Not a speed demon by any means though. Im looking to put away for either a talaria or the sur-ron eventually
Awesome video! I’ve been wanting to get a Talaria for a while now. Can you just ride it out of the box as an e-bike on the street? That “legal” Part worries me a bit since there are so many gray areas.
@haveagoodoneyt
Жыл бұрын
So uhh… you kinda nailed it with the “gray area” comment. I’d say technically no simply because no pedals. That being said. Technically in eco mode it classifies as a class 2, without pedal assist. Legally I think a cop might have something if you’re being a jerk but as long as you play it cool, give plenty of space to pedestrians and overall just be respectful then there shouldn’t be a problem. I talked to an officer about it and he said ,”This is Houston. We have bigger problems than someone riding their electric bike in a park.” Just ride politely, think about the visual side (how people perceive you), and spread the love. People always want to know about these bikes and they are super happy just to come up and chat with me about mine! 🤙🏻

You need a motorcycle license to ride these on the road, right? Do they have to be registered and insured? I really want to buy one, but kind of worried about the legality of em.

Depends where you live. I live in RI and you don’t need registration, insurance or anything lol, I ride the street, sidewalk, parks, with no issue so far
If you do this on a daily basis it'll work until one day it just won't
I should be getting the L1e soon, just waiting for the letter, its basically the same thing as mx4 just road legal. And im very glad to see this video cause i wasn't too sure about that. The fact that it was in the rain for 2-3 hours is fcking nuts i love it

With the battery the metal and the electronics all getting along with you sitting on it you're a human lightning rod compared to being safer in a car it's Russian roulette when you're riding out there In a thunderstorm showers and steady rain are okay but riding in a thunderstorm is suicide in the wrong place at the wrong lightning bolt time 🌩️⚡🏍️ 😂
