I love when Kevin gives himself some ridiculous rule to follow and then absolutely crushes it while also being hilarious. It's my favorite genre of Kevin

I love how Kevin always comes up with lore reasons for challenges.

I’m amazed he isn’t going for the actual easiest people to date, like Haley who likes the random forgeable flowers in spring, Sam who likes the joja cola you can get for cheap at vending machines- in garbage cans- and out of the lake, or like anyone who enjoys easy to get or cheap stuff that isn’t a valuable resource and weirdly expensive like coffee early game

Early game I think they're definitely easier but later on coffee becomes a pretty big surplus so that's probably why he's considered pretty easy - since while the flowers and cola are liked gifts, Harvey does LOVE coffee, and if you're actually farming 600 bucks a week for two loved gifts honestly ain't a bad deal

09:30 I think we can combine this character into the Hermit-verse. The grandfather in this save is Hermit. Not a farmer grew up with his hermit grandfather trapped on the farm for his summer vacations as a kid and so decided to never become a farmer. Time makes fools of us all, and one day Not a farmer is forced to inherit his grandfather's farm. It's changed in the time since he last saw it; but it still feels claustrophobic. Not a farmer vows to spend as little time on the farm as possible.

Kevin's genuine hurt in his voice when he's begging Harvey to like him is adorable and pitiful at the same time

This is just like when you give a Sim an outdoors related aspiration and it keeps trying to get you to admit that the Sim “Hates the Outdoors”

Tip: if your inventory is full, don't use the trash bin. Just drop the item outside your inventory frame and it will drop to the ground, where you can pick it up later!

Having Kevin describe the owl statue event as Lewis dry heaving over fish brought me so much unexpected joy 😂

Id like to think both of Kevins stardew creations coexist. This one refused to farm and is aggressive towards the town and the other one only shows up once a year to buy a bunch of things and disappear.

Leah, is the easiest not Harvey. You can literally give her drift wood and she’ll like it. Edit: you can also give her scavenged stuff veggies you pick up off the ground and she’ll like it

Kevin was on the island farm too long. He forgot he could've foraged that whole first month and made money. Also fishing and mining

I literally played like this, not as a challenge, but because I found farming boring and fishing rewarding, so I just fished for years without growing a single plant.

I think it's really funny how instead of using the Spring days to forage or even getting the fishing rod on Day 2 and fishing more, he sleeps through the entirety of Spring and only starts actually playing in Summer Classic Kevin

Inspired by your hermit game's unusual challenge, I've spent the last few weeks doing a no farming run myself. It's a lot easier if you don't waste an entire month sleeping. By the end of spring I'd reached the bottom of the mines and I was selling gold bars regularly for tons of money. I had enough money to complete the JojaMart rewards by the beginning of autumn!

Funnily enough - over a year ago when you released your first "Stardew Valley without leaving the farm challange" I was inspired to find new and interesting ways to get back to the game... and I came up with exactly this as a challange! I'm interested to see what your take on it is. I've made it more interesting for myself by allowing only the use of wild seeds (only drop from grass and some monsters - grow random crop when planted) or tree saplings that appear randomly in the wondering trader (very rare, ridiculisly expensive) as far as farming is concerned.

It's also interesting to see how a game can work without some core mechanics. Gives me a good idea how vital they are but also how creative humanity (Kevin) can be working around the lack

While not a romance option, Linus is pretty easy to make you friend. He's always near his house and accepts forageables.

Kevin, not sure if you know, but talking to the NPCs helps. Every day that you don't talk to them you lose a small amount of points with them, which is why it's not really a good strategy to ignore them and only ever give them gifts. Talking itself also gives you points on its own

You can get the training rod for 25g! Makes it super easy to fish you just can't get higher tier fish but it's so easy to fish with that you can easily just get to the level needed for the best fishing pole!

He really should be hired to test games

We need year 5 of not leaving a farm Kevin!

In a way this reminds me of the first time I played this game. I just didn't really want to farm, so I spent a lot of time fishing and exploring the mines. Kevin seems to be eyeing Harvey and Abigail, and I went with Abigail because I mean she has an SNES in her room plus a Chrono Trigger poster which was all I needed to make a decision. At least Kevin got more creative with his farm and character names. I just called my farm Farm, and my character is named Hey.

hi Kevin great video I've seen a stardew video where someone did a "no capitalism run" where they didn't use pier's or joja mart it was a fun seeing them come up with ways to get seeds etc.

tip that comes way to late: picking up Truffles is technically foraging. Truffles are a weird item between foraged goods and animal product. See the wiki for more details, but in a nutshell: if you never *pet* your pigs, you would stay lvl 0 farming and still get that sweet truffle money

two things, unlock the right side of the beach by taking 300 wood to the bridge, good stuff spawns there its decent cash, second get fish ponds with sturgeon in them and turn their eggs into caviar using the preserves jar, you can get your farming up by interacting with farm animals, chickens ducks sheep cows etc

It is amazing how often Kevin's quips are followed by a perfect musical cue from the game he's playing

I always found Shane the easiest to romance because he's Super Easy to find. He's always in the saloon. And he Loves Beer and Pizza. Both of which are sold at the saloon.

Kevin, you can make money passively using fishing, if you go with the crab pot profession. You'll get experience, and money, and have to do basically nothing but collect free stuff. And since you're not farming, you can put your resources to that without feeling like you're wasting stuff.

📣🌟🌟TIPS FOR KEVIN!!!🌟🌟📣 • *Harvey WON'T give you meds or product discounts even if you marry him!!* He gives you food sometimes, though. • If you *don't* collect quest rewards before the quest time is up (usually 2 days) you'll lose the reward. Even if you completed the quest! You *must* manually collect it in time! 💸 • Gunther gives 🚫nothing useful🚫 for Farm Hater. Sell all gems and artifacts!! (Except dwarven scrolls if you want to buy from the dwarf in the mine) - Exception is the sewer key 🗝️ for donating 60 total items and stardrop for donating all items • Some foragables like berries and grapes can be processed into jam & wine! Kegs and preserves jars should be invested in. (Salmonberry, blackberry, spiceberry, grape, plum, crystal fruit, cactus fruit, coconut, fiddlehead fern) - Invest in tappers early to get the saps you need for kegs and bee houses • The further you get in the mine the better ores will appear on your farm! It's best to speedrun getting to the bottom of the mine than to ore hunt on your way down. You can always go back with the elevator! • Fish ponds give Roe which can be processed like jam, but fish need random items to grow the pond. Look up what items fish need before going this route! (Sturgeon make the most expensive caviar, but need an item only found during Winter). • Those whack-a-mole critters in the mines often drop geodes when defeated. Whether that's worth it is up to you. 💶💵💶💵💶💵 • PIGS are the best livestock to have! Process truffles into oil for BIG BUCKS! Oil makers can be put in the mushroom cave, shed, barn, or just on the ground. 💶💵💶💵💶💵 • The things blocking your path on the farm can be taken out with upgraded tools. Upgrade pickaxe and axe fast to get rid of them. - The secret forest has a lot of foragables and also needs an upgraded axe to access • Once the special order quest board is put up, old lady Evelyn will ask for leeks. Complete this quest!! She'll give you a coffee pot to put in your house that will produce one free cup of coffee every morning! (The leeks have to be collected during the quest, not from a stockpile you already had)
