Can you make techno with feedbacks? / No input techniques tutorial

Ойындар

Hello everybody and welcome!
How can you use feedbacks to make predictable rythmic patterns?
In the fifth video of my series dedicated to no input techniques I show you how to create complex rythmic sections with two devices (a mixer and a graphic equalizer). I explore some interesting interactions between feedbacks in a sort of sidechain effect based on their volume. I also share a couple of tricks to play a no input setup in a more controlled (or less unpredictable eheheh) way.
At the end of the video I play with my setup and a jam.
If you have any question feel free to ask in the comments, I'm more than happy to help you in your journey into this fascinating world!
All of the sounds recorded in this video are also available as a sample pack on my Patreon. These are a great series of videos. I have a guitar with a Sustainiac pickup. I set it to drone on the low E, then used a delay to create feedback. That shit can get real loud, real fast. Andrej is serious when he mentions gain staging the output. Don't fuck around, y'all.

    Totally! I put a warning at the beginning of every video specifically for that reason: it's not a joke. It can hurt your ears, and that's something to avoid!

    Another great tutorial, well done Andrej. That Waldorf filter really is a great piece of kit. I have been using a Gristliser and a EHX Blurst to modulate feedback and basic diy drone synths, along with a lot of cheap used modulation pedals. I find ones that can run really slowly are more useful. Looking forward to your next video.

    Sometimes I wonder if the devices I am using, if all the controls are actually working, because like the Sansui mixer I used for a couple things, I literally found in the trash. I have a casio ctk-630 keyboard, I know all the controls on that work, I wonder if I can do no input feedback loops with that.

    Not really hahaha, it is just a basic sample loop with a kick drum and a bass synth. But yeah, there is plenty of possibilities to produce something in the techno style with no input techniques. For example my last album "Destroy Everything, Destroy Everyone" has a lot of those moments (even if the 4 on the floor is shifted with a lot of polyrithms)

  • @AndreijRublev

  • @AndreijRublev

    @AndreijRublev

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah it depends a lot on the mixer and how it's the circuit I guess. Some mixers can make pretty slow pulses, others not. But I found it is super easy to do slow pulses with a graphic equalizer, because you have just one feedback loop, no interactions with other feedbacks, and a lot of control on the pitch given by all the different eq bands (which are basically volume controls for specific range of frequencies).
