Save your cash because my parents did without going out to eat and many of the things people can't live without, and they saved enough to buy a foreclosure house right out. They own the house flat out and many people could, not only own a house but multiple with the amount of cash they throw away by having too much parties and celebrating many holidays. When your kids are too young to know forget about themed birthday parties, and go for a simple cake and ice cream, the kid will love it regardless.

What! Husband just recently laid off?? He needs to go get a fast food job until he can do better. What about the mother and the brother, are they not able to contribute. I feel your struggle, been there done that, but the best decision I made was to not have any more children and stopped when I foolishly had two children, one at 20 and the other at 21. I understood, although too late how hard my my life was going to be raising two children on my own, and I had no more children. yes it's your right to have children, but unfortunately, you and your husband are not in the position to take care of them. Just keep the objective to better for your family at the forefront, and keep working hard. You are a bright young woman and my prayer is that things will work out for all of you.

People don't understand that with a raised minimum wage comes a raise in every aspect in life. You get $8 an hour, you pay $800 a month in rent, and with $15 an hour you pay $1500 a month in rent. What you need to understand quickly is that you must be frugal and save your money. You must forget about having fun in your life at least for a while. Forget about going out to restaurants, clubs, alcohol, cigarettes, ect. Save your cash and invest. If you're able to, give your kids the grand gift of a private school so they'll be taught better.

It’s definitely possible if you are not paying for rent. I mean if you work full time, which is at least 30 hours a week, you basically make 150 bucks a week before taxes. Minimum wage in New York City is like fifteen bucks. If you don’t have a car as well, then it makes it even easier as you don’t have to worry about gas or paying off your car. Omny costs up to 33 a week, but you pay 2.75 per ride. One week’s wages would be enough to cover a month’s rides if you spend 33 a week on this. There are dollar menus to eat from. For instance, Taco Bell, McDonald’s pizza places, and some of the food carts. If you can survive on a dollar per meal each day, then you are spending like a dollar to six bucks a day, so 31 bucks to 186 bucks a month.

So many nasty comments, it disgusts me. The lady at the beginning of the video got married, got a good education, had kids (as pro lifers always want regardless of the circumstances), 7 people under her roof, helping keep this economy moving, and yet ya'll still shame families like hers and bash them for getting government help? You don't know everyone's situation. Getting a slightly better job could cause her to lose her benefits which is the case for many struggling families and the fact of the matter is that even people with the best paying jobs are still struggling and need help. Put yourself in her shoes and realize that many of you laughing at her situation come from a place of privilege.

    1. First girl is 26 with 3 kids - and she's rather pretty. It's almost like waiting for a man to make an entreaty of marriage to you before having kids might have saved you from that "KFC job that you love" so much. Which, of course, means making yourself available as a proper wife. Quid pro quo, pumpkin. 2. The man who makes $50 a week. His is more understandable - perhaps college is not so good an idea, however. Consider trade school - welders can make a shit-ton of money. Start out as an apprentice with someone. 3. The girl: come out of that lesbianism. Otherwise - you're doomed. And a minimum wage isn't going to help you - it's just going to make things worse while it 'appears' to help you. Your hours are going to get cut, and then down the line, you'll be replaced by automation.

An employee needs to produce value greater than their wage rate. Schools don't teach real economics or making a living type of bookkeeping. Some people never learn it and they begin to believe the odds are stacked against them. Other people figure it out and forge ahead. I've known of farm laborers who managed to become homeowners, land owners, and put away a tidy nest egg for themselves and their families. It's done all the time but not by stupid people.

But it is true a significant predictor of poverty is having kids you can't afford. This economy and world is harsh enough for one to take care of themselves as a youth, talk less of having a kid when you have little or no marketable skills. No one should have kids unless they are receiving individual or joint household income of 40,000 dollars or more. And even then it's a struggle and requires budgeting.
