    When are we going to get a title that says "Can you're offense pass this defensive player?" All I see is how good a person is offensively, but are there prospects that will get recognized for their defense? Maybe not. I want to see those Gary Payton's, Dennis Rodman's, Alanzo Mourning's and those Larry Johnson's prosepcts! PEACE!!

    You really can't get anywhere with defense if you're not good at defense. I sucked at basketball (i still do) because i used to focus on defense and one of the best in my school, but i can't do anything with the ball because i can't shoot. Now i can, so im much more versatile.

    I'm not sure if this guy is that good or the defense is just that bad. I'm not sure what HS coaches are teaching their players these days. Back even in middle school, I was taught to defend the guy's stomach, meaning, you don't have to watch the ball. Someone could shake and bake all they want and use all the head fakes or hesitation dribbles, but they're not going anywhere without their stomach. They need to see where the help is and force them into it as well, which will also eliminate getting burned.

    The problem is because with this newer type of dribbling, the offender moves his entire body a good foot every juke and it wouldn't work to stand still because they would blow by you so you have to always try to stay in front

  • @martyg2333

    @martyg2333

    9 жыл бұрын

    +Shakester71 It's because dribbling the air out of the ball is considered cool now days, nm about fundamental basketball. It really shouldn't take more than a couple of dribbles to get by a defender, anymore than that and you're wasting energy and trying to show off. It kills the flow of the game because your teammates are static, just standing there watching you dribble; no ball movement. Most great players have mastered a couple of simple moves like crossovers and in and outs that are simple yet effective. When I defend a guy that dribbles that much I just play him straight up, don't reach, body him up when he drives, and 9x out of 10 he throws up a brick or I wait for him to cough it up on his own. All I can think is wow, all that for nothing. COOL. I love playing defense, shutting a guy down is one of the most satisfying things in bball. Defense, assists, rebounds, and scoring - you gotta have an all around game. I like to score but I get just as much satisfaction out of getting my teammates involved and hustling for lose balls and rebounds. Too many coaches today allow that flashy crap instead of fucusing on the more selfless type of ball. If you watch the NBA you can actually see how the game has progressed into more one on one ball compared to team ball like it used to be. Everybody wants to be like Mike. I love MJ, he's my favorite player of all time, but to be honest he kind of ruined basketball - through no fault of his own - because so many people want to emulate him. The problem is they're only emulating one side of the court. What they don't understand is that he was one of the best defenders of all time but it's not as glamorous as dunking on a guy or doing a reverse layup so his skills on D are overlooked. Most people probably don't even know he's one of only like five gaurds in the history of the NBA to get defensive player of the year, the rest are all forwards and centers. They also don't understand that he didn't start winning championships until he started trusting his teammates. I also find it funny how people hate the Spurs and think they're boring to watch. Well, there's a reason they've won as many rings as they have, it's because they play team ball and their coach doesn't care who they are, he'll pull them if they don't want to play his style. Kids these days just can't wrap their heads around the fact that no matter how good one guy is on offense he can't beat even five mediocre guys that play fundamental team basketball - on both sides of the court. This kid's got some pretty flashy ball handling skills, what they don't show is can he actually play D? What's his FT%? Assists? FG%? Turnover ratio? Steals per game? Rebounds? PPG? When I go to the gym I sometimes watch what the younger kids are working on and what I DON'T see them working on is free throws/follow through, post game, perimeter J, rebounding, or defense. What I DO see is a ton of three's and a whole lot of DRIBBLING.

    The thing about these channels is that they say the same thing on every kid SICK HANDLES SICK HANDLES SICK HANDLES. Seriously? Give us about the outside basketball world. We don't need to see some kids doing the same moves over and over. You say it every single time. Also whats with all the useless dribbling? This is why basketball nowadays sucks because kyrie dribbles without having to. This is why jordan was the best because he doesn't dribble for an hour until he can get past his defender. It's how to be built fundementally not flashy.

  • @sweetcheels

    @sweetcheels

    Man I thinking the same. It tires you out so fast do unnecessary dribble moves. All you need to do is create space once. If you don't get it. Pass.

  • @HADGER24532

    @HADGER24532

    TwistedCrazze well what would basketball be without that flash?Sorry to break it to you but that's the reason why kids actually practice on their handles these days they don't wanna be like jordan no more,hell a lot of kids don't even wanna be like LBJ.They wanna be mr.crossover.They wanna be able to drop their opponents.The problem with that is most kids like that don't have a really reliable jumper(like my self).I'd honestly prefer to have the jumper i never did then the handles i have now.Handles are so easy to attain but when a great jumper is hard to find.

  • @florez5871

    @florez5871

    HADGER24532 Exactly all these kids are going down this SAME EXACT PATH. I could watch the same kid all over again instead of watching 10 doing the same stuff. I want to see something unique like a bigman shooting threes or something. Im getting sick of this and this channel could do MUCH more.

    I find more entertainment on watching people make their defenders fall. The dribbling isn't even normally excessive. It's a move or two at best and if they can't shake their defender they pass it. If rather see someone get shook then watch Jordan hand check some 2 feet back and shoot a mid-range jumper. Show me a clip where Kyrie just dribbles unnecessarily on his defender.
