LOL, I am American, but living in Colombia (Bogota). Lunch is the big meal and dinner is not a thing For $2.50 cents, I get a soup, beef, chicken or pork (the beef is not good here), a simple salad and fresh squeezed juice (not the sugar laced stuff like the US) some type of desert. I can never finish all of it.. But nice show and thank you.

Got behind on watching videos. Sorry. This is fantastic. I am wondering how you can hold salad greens and tomatoes and even mushrooms for three to four weeks? I have a major problem with this.

Cherry tomatoes I don't have a problem with as long as I don't refrigerate them. The mushrooms I'm using right away. I plan on using the lettuce in the first two weeks. I was about $3 under budget, so I can can go back to the store in week 3 or 4. Also, I don't think it really ruins the integrity of the experiment if I end up spending an extra $10 in that grocery shop.

I store all greens in Wax bags that we save from boxed cereals. (Do Not store it in those plastic grocery bags.) I wash the lettuce right away, blot as dry as possible with paper towel. Then I wrap the lettuce in the damp paper towel and place in the wax bag. I've kept lettuce for up to a month, still crisp. Check the paper towel now and then and redampen and replace if needed. This works great with other veggies, too. Mushrooms...I placed a paper towel in the mushroom box they came in, towel over them too, dont wash until used. They kept longer doing that.

I think you can feed yourself for less than $5 per day, if you really want to. Rice, flour, sugar, oatmeal PB, Jelly, some fresh fruit, frozen veggies.... Honestly, this should not be impossible. But certain people are working to destroy the American economy as fast as they possibly can. Manufacturing in America has become pretty much a thing of the past. Sad.
