But, needless to say, I felt like garbage, so about 2 months in, I switched to only whole foods, thinking that would solve my problem. That made me feel better, until about 4 months later. That's when it turned on me. I was still attempting to maintain my bodybuilding, so my carb sources were rice, quinoa, potatoes, bread, any fruits, any veggies. My protein sources were tofu, tempeh, all lentils, vegan protein powder, vegan "milks." 4 months of this and my IBS and bloating was so bad, I ended up eliminating all but mostly rice, just to avoid the Fibre lol

I have the energy of a much younger man, I'm 53, and I don't snore anymore. My BMI is going down rapidly and I'm really enjoying watching all of my veins visually reappear on my arms like when I was younger and fitter. I've lost 6 inches off of my waist, my double chin, and my chronic skin conditions are all but gone too. I read the comments of the carnivore and keto diet content creators' videos and I just smile and think to myself, "yep, me too." Oh yeah, and my libido is back with a mighty vengeance too. 😁

@asmongoldsmouth9839 false, how do you think we as humans got to this point in our evolution? The science and facts show that we were nomadic hunter/gatherers for millions of years, which means it would have been physically impossible to live on a purely plant based diet. We are not herbivores, nor have we ever been, we are very clearly omnivorous. The enemy of the human diet is ULTRA PROCESSED "food" (I put food in quotations because it is barely passable as such). Regardless of what diet one wishes to adhere to, if you stick to whole, real food you will be many times over healthier and happier.

Why do people feel the need to be so extreme and throw the baby out with the bath water? You can get carbs from healthy sources, certain vegetables, rice, beans, some people also need it for high intensity and endurance training. It is clearly more all the sht people are eating and just how poor quality food has become, not to mentioned probably laced with farming chemicals or heavy metals.

Other than a small can or two per day of chicken or salmon, I was vegetarian, but I got to the point of dizziness, brain fog and nausea. 6 months ago, although it seemed radical and dangerous, I tried carnivore, dropping (mostly) the veggies and adding 16 oz. of red meat. It wasn't long before all the above disappeared, and some small, years-old injuries miraculously healed. I've found that I have to keep the carbs low - 50 to 75 grams - to feel my best. Exercise - in my case weight training and sprinting - is also important, I've found, for feeling my best. Carnivore has proven itself to be a miracle.

Used to love red meat. Still do. After having pneumonia that basically ruined my system. I had to eat cleaner and healthier. I was bed ridden for like 6 to 7 months fighting for my life. I used to think people who ate like that were p*ssies. This all happened shortly after I got a tetanus shot; which weakened my immune system. Gave me several side effects. Ended up with a lung infection and contracting pneumonia. The moment I started eating healthier and having a variety in my diet that targeted the mucus build up in my system to reduce it. I started getting way healthie. I tried to cheat my diet with a steak and it f'd me up. Took 2 to 3 weeks to recover reverse what I did. I'm still in the verge of recovery but I now see the benefits of not being blinded to thinking something like a keto diet is horrible and for weak people. Everyone body reacts differently and needs to be looked and treated differently. That is the new found perspective I've gained. Hopefully next year I can go back to eating red meat. Yet I do enjoy eating a lot cleaner now. Only downside is that you lose a lot of gains.

@@kNowFixx the information we have going back thousands of years is most cultures had varied diets, depending on their environment, and in many cases people would simply eat what is available, of course meat and seafood is a big part of that. Its a gross generalisation to just say its all meat, its just not fact, I am in Australia and Australian aboriginals relied on all kinds of plants and high fibre carbs, pretty much all indigenous cultures around the world did, why is that so difficult for people to accept? I am a big advocate for low carb and carnivore is clearly amazing for some people but its not necessary or even functional for some people. People need to stop acting like its a religion.

@@kNowFixx you realise these are just your narratives too right? Assuming you know what happened millions of years ago is completely ridiculous, and guess what, EVERYTHING was a survival food. Organisms also adapt to what is available in their environment and it becomes a habit over time. We are clearly omnivores, to just outright claim we are carnivores is some dumb sht. None of this takes away from the fact the diet clearly does wonders for many people, just stop pushing it like a religion, its dumb. You can exclaim all its benefits to others and how it helps you but to push it in such a way actually takes away from it, as does Shaun's bias a lot of the time.

A lot of non-pathonogenic health issues aren't bad genes per se but rather gene expression, although like everything else in the human condition it's complicated. Gene expression is heavily influenced by environmental conditions, diet being a major one along with lifestyle. The benefit of both is that they're the environmental factors most readily controllable by the individual. It's nearly impossible to obtain perfect environmental conditions across the board so controlling what you can is the best risk abatement most of us can easily achieve. Don't make perfect the enemy of good.
