I feel like of all the rules, minimal Dragoon usage actually makes the game easier. Especially later in the game when you get Dart's advanced additions. There are a couple characters with OP Dragoons and the rest are very meh. Most of the time it's better to attack with full additions and have the ability to use items.

A little thing for all of us who forget to save, use the quick save command before a battle that can potentally kill you, so you can retry as quickly as possibile

It's surprising how many games are actually way easier after the start if you solo them because funneling all the xp to one character tends to be stronger than having a full team of on level characters. Well, outside of status.

Just played FF1 Pixel remaster. Got 5k exp and it was divided up amongst all four party members... Killed three of them off lol. My knight leveled a hell of a lot faster after his friends died. Fun times! Lol. Don't usually level that way for the sake of just playing the game and enjoying it instead of grinding but I figured why the fuck not. Don't really like usually the built-in boost for exp and gil since it ruins the game for me.

I remember being extremely frustrated as a kid when my carefully curated list of Pokemon were worse than my brother's strategy of "Blastoise is cool!" Typing really didn't matter if you were 15 levels higher.

Can't wait to see your lore video! I believe I know most of it but it's always great to get a revamp on it.

This would potentially be interesting to see done with other characters (from the time you get them, or with a mod that gives them to you early or replaces them with Dart in battle). Great video

Solo character runs are SO much easier in games that let you just keep other party members dead.

I did a run of the hard mod a few years ago that was really enjoyable. You may want to look in to that/ upload a playthrough?

It's actually EASIER to beat the game with only Dart. 1) EXP is DIVIDED among party members. Ex: I did a Lavitz/Albert-Only run, and he was level 50 by the Moon. 2) With protection from Instant Death, the Talisman, the ONLY way Dart can be 'killed' instantly is by Melbu's 2nd form, OR the Windigo's Chest Cage that traps one party member.

Man, I love this game. From childhood to now. I'd gladly would pay full price for a proper remake!

Yo, I did this once. OHKO mechanics and status effects were the "best" to deal with. Starting disk 2 at the Valley of Corrupted Gravity, that Virage and its favorite attack would always stop my cousin dead in his tracks while we were tackling this challenge years ago. Of course, we were dumb kids and Crush Dance was obviously the only addition we could do with our eyes closed so fights were extra tough.

34:01 Fun Fact: YOU HAVE TO kill the 3 Ghost dragons before you fight Zombie Lavitz, or they disappear forever. I made that mistake in my run. Also, if you want the Halberd, Albert's ultimate weapon, now, on Endiness before the Moon, SAVE before the Zombie Lavitz fight, and just keep trying until he drops it. I'm sorry. It's a random drop, and I HATE that it is!

Halberd is meh anyways. Albert works best with the Twister Glaive against Earth enemies and always hits hard. A few extra points isn't worth it IMO.

Dude I'm having a ton of fun watching these challenge runs. Legend of Dragoon (and Legend of Legaia) were my childhood games. I must have played thru each about 7 times, which is a LOT of gaming for me. I'm not much of a gamer but these games hold a special place in my heart. My big brother, 8 years older than me, would play these, and I'd sneak into our parent's basement to watch him play after bed time. Sadly he died in 2012. These games make me feel so close to him now, even still. The music, the vibes, it all takes me back to those early 2000s nights of watching my big bro crush this game.

Dart soaking up all the party's precious EXP. 😂 He becomes Dart the super tank. 😮 Dartalicious 😊

Did you know that charm potion infight have the effect that minor enemies can't target this character for 3 rounds? It's the opposite effect of pandemonium and would be very helpful for your next solo run.

Rose is the best step mommy. Entertaining video, I figured it wouldn't be too tough with all the additional XP you get to soak up. I hope you do more of these challenge runs

This reminds me of the challenge run I started sometime ago. That being a no BUYING run (I do make 2 exceptions though, because I dont like leaving these things for later: Spirits and the Gold DS). That run is currently in the Giganto home. Atm, the only healing items I have are 3 Angel Prayers. Big yikes. I do not look forward to the Lenus fight one bit.

Defend also makes you immune to status effects.

No addition run would have been epic. But that would probably make the run Impossible. lol

I was intently listening to this while playing Rocket League, and then blew an overtime defense, losing the game, because I burst out laughing when you mentioned Shana being down with Coroni lmao.

Dang. I think the Emulator Mod, Dragoon Modifier, gives you a way to Duo/Solo as characters. I haven't tried that setting myself so I'm unsure how it works.. Good job tho!

What are you talkin about "at this point"? When you fight Drake the bandit, you have to have Rose in your party because Shana's no longer there. LOL

"Nugget bridge" as you call it is such a good grinding spot, you can get all the way to the elite and then run away before the battle and all the soldiers repopulate Lloyd's, Lenus', and Kongols voices are amazing ❤

Enjoyed the vid, friend. I have been recently replaying it and streaming on Twitch and its been a real treat. Its a good thing they made Dart so well-rounded! I noticed that some other comments mentioned modifiers and so I think it might be worth looking into. I want to check out the JP version for comparison. I also wonder how the heck a Shana-only run would go, lol. On my stream last week I fought Lenus 1 with Meru and Kongol. I lowkey forgot you fight her there but... I tried anyway. Came down to the wire and Kongol pulled through! I never really uses him before but it turns out you can buy his Dragoon spirit in Lohan right after he joins the party if you backtrack a bit. I had no idea until someone in chat pointed it out to me. Anyways I enjoyed the video, and I think in the future I would be interested in doing some sort of challenge run myself.

Rupaul’s drag race season 10!

The 1st Battle with Lenus is difficult but the 2nd with her and Regole felt easier especially when you you use Dart's Dragoon Special

Love to see my childhood game getting some love

Shana, Meru and Kongol solo are the most challenging and as well fun playtrough. Just use next time charm potion right for less annoying waiting until the other party members dies. You could do Shana until you get Meru and make a separate savepoint for a later Meru and of course Kongol run. Rose is almost like Dart Haschel do everything better than Dart And after Kongol Albert is less challenging and rather boring. Once day you should try out the Japanese (hardmode) version of the game it's itself a challenge. Almost everything is easier in US and EU Version.

Shana and Meru get good if you baby them due to their Dragoon magic, magic defense, and speed. They're not good when it comes to fighting trash mobs. Kongol is always bad, especially at his join time when bosses start magic spamming and he doesn't get defensive spells to migitate that weakness, unlike Albert.

With magic items yes. I don´t use the magic items at all in US/EU version cuz they to OP in compare to the JP version. Only normal and dragoon attacks is my way to play.

Just use the legendary helm and armor and everything becomes easy

Looking forward to replaying this old gem. After watching your videos i got a lot more knowledge about the game. I didn't even know that offensive items scaled with magic or how good the speed stats is

Speed boosting items on Kongol and Haschel broken

Very interesting play through maybe you should use the dragoon modifier so that you can not worry about having the other 2 party members die. Also, on the dragoon modifier you can make it so the solo character doesn't over level by being a solo party.

You know restricting the use of Dragoon in a solo run is kind of interesting to not do, especially once you start getting higher DLvl since it removes your use of both the defend and item commands. Not to painful at DLvl1 when you just pop in and out but for certain fights losing access to those commands for 5 turns could be fatal. You also have limited MP with no way to recover it while in Dragoon form unless you equip an MP restoration item and since you're not using special you have to do Dragoon additions yourself if you run out of MP. I don't know about you but I personally have a hard time hitting 5s and even 4s sometimes

i would have used the dragoon transformation liberally personally

Kongol was my fav character to use in this game.

Defending grants debuff block too. Only game ever where defend is usefull

#1 game of all time. The only game that deserves a remake. Was way ahead of it's time.

I wonder if Meru will end up being easiest for a solo run.. She scales up so well but right when you get her she starts off pretty weak, especially physically..

I just finished my first normal playthrough. Seeing Your solo Dart at 50 made me feel weird because when i fought the final boss my Dart was level 45 😅

When did you get level 50? Like was it early in disk 4, thus hitting his power cap early?

Making me wanna do a run with nothing but the weakest weapons/armor or something. Haven't played this game in like almost 10 years

Forgetting to save is a rookie mistake that hits superveterans a LOT, I've noticed. When you've played a game so many times, over a number of years, you get secure in your skill and knowledge, and that can EASILY make you overconfident. You skip save spots because PFFT, what do I look like? Some kid playing for the first time!? I know this game backwards, forwards, upside down, and inside out! And then RNGesus punishes you for your hubris, and you realize that your last save was *two hours and three dungeons ago*.

Speed runs of the game is basically a solo with Albert. Go for the speed run record

i remembered the time when i finished the game with dart's only addition i used was double slash...and other characters also on 1 button press additions only...because the X button of my controller needs to be pressed firmly to register an input and it hurts my hands..

I am sure you already know, but you can get Kongols Dragoon gem earlier in Lohan.

I would die for this game to be remade. Can someone tell me where I can play this :(

doing a run myself and i just keep shana and albert in party at super low levels, let them attack without doing additions before dying on average they get less than 50 damage total on bosses which is pretty irrelevant in the run and alot less frusturating

would the charm potion be an exception in this run or does it technically count as a buff? Currently attempting this right now and decided to go with constantly using charm potions on dart in hellena when we first get lavitz so the guards can prioritize attacking him instead of dart to kill him faster while dart just heals.

Remember to save Often, but not too often.... i remember using savestates and on Haschel's Solo fight, i f'ed up because i didn't know what to do and i just went in fisting and stuff...... until...... his daughter 1shoted me.... and i had no other savestates....... and i saved.... infight..... ....... Yeah.

you are 50 because dead people dont gain xp, and when you gain xp for your characters its not evenly distributed nor does everyone gain that much xp. the xp is divided based on who fought who didnt and who survived.

Dude. You could have just used a total vanishing on Frugal's pets. It should one shot them. Unless they patched that out on the updated versions.
