@@WesternEquipmentis mulch plate a stand alone item or is part of the standard control kit bundle. I searched John deer’s website but doesn’t return anything. My LA115 shoot the cut grass to the sides.

Great video. Saved me a lot of guesswork. I assume keeping the gate in the closed position after installation will keep material from end up in that void between the opening and the chute? Did install today, will be trying tomorrow….raining today.

With the mechanical mulcher kit installed do you have to dismount the mower to open and close the mulcher, this is on a X370 mower.

Can you share link on how to install bagger with mulch control kit already on?

So the biggest difference is really just being able to plug the chute if the mulch kit is on. It would be easiest to wedge something in there that you can fix in place and keep somewhat of the curve going. It seems like having a chute plug created by John Deere would be the best alternative.

We mulch by removing the bag and let the grass shoot out the back holding down the switch / bag sensor. Wanna get a proper clamp 🗜 to avoid getting cramp in fingers as it’s a big garden.

I have an x350 and have both and have the power chute. Not aware of any plates, I just take the chute off and switch the lever.

could you make a video showing how your mower is set up?

If you are bagging, do you leave the mulch control door open (in the position shown in the video)? What keeps grass from getting in behind the chute at the front of the deck? Or do you close the mulch control door to seal that opening off? This was never explained (I don't think!) and was not answered in AB's question either.

You leave the mulch control door open when bagging, as if you were going to side discharge. The chute tube should collect all of the clippings and very few should be caught in other places.

@@WesternEquipment OK thanks Bret. Can you provide the part numbers for the Mulch Control Kit & the Power Flow Bagging kit for the new Z330R (48" deck option) please ? I want to buy this machine, but only if it will have these 2 accessories available. And once you put the mulch kit in, will you be able to still use the bagger without taking the whole mulch kit out? I know on some other models you only had to remove 1 piece near the discharge chute to add the bagger. Thanks!

Hi Brent, I have a JD X394 with electric mulch control. I would like to get a bagger installed with the power flow attachment. Is it possible to have both on at the same time? Does the mulching stop plate need to be removed in order to attach the power flow blower? Is this something I could do or do I have to take it to the dealer for the installation? I realize it requires a double pulley. If you could make a video with a mower that has the electric mulch control that would be great . Thank you

I have the exact same question. I recently bought a JD X384 with electric mulch control. I am going to get a bagger in the fall but wondering if I can have the power flow bagger installed at the same time as the electric mulch control? I know the mulch plate has to be removed but wondering if the actuator arm that opens and closes the door has to come off too? Has there been a video on this yet?

Would love to see a video on this exact scenario. I have a 390x w/54” which I was told by my local JD dealer it requires the power flow and you can only do one or the other, so I went mulching but would love to have both options as long as I do not have to remove the whole mulching kit! Love your videos, keep educating!

Hi Brent, I just ordered a 100 Series John D. 42” w/bagger. I understood that the stock blade is a 3 in one that mulches, so won’t the leaves be cut up ie: mulched, when they enter the bag? Do I understand correctly that the mulching kit or plug is only needed if you want to leave the mulched leaves & grass clippings on the lawn? Or am I completely confused? I wanted mulched leaves for my compost pile. Thank you! Melody

Yes, those blades should work well for your bagger and give you a good mulch for compost. No need for the mulch plug. Just mow the leaves like normal with your bagger on so it can collect the mulched leaves for you.

On my 42" 2022 X350, I removed the 2 bolts & mulch plug but then when attaching the lower chute, it accidentally moved the mulch control deflector to the closed position. Since the mulch plug was gone, the deflector came into contact with the blade and got destroyed. Bad design. There should be something else that prevents the deflector from moving into the path of the blade when the plug is removed.

Yes, It should be the same setup. Just make sure that your deck looks like this one.

That is a good question. If you are mulching, I would use the mulching blades. If bagging, then use high lift blades. If you are going to be doing both or switch back and forth then you would be best to use the 3-in-1 blades.
