Awesome videos - I have a John deere d105 with the welded on bracket vs the adjustable one that has two bolts you can loosen and tighten the belt. Have you figured out belt tension can be adjusted on this machine? Using jd belt exact part and the belt is very loose even when engaged - everything seems to be spinning freely with no pully or spindle issues. Have seen tons of this same problem but haven’t found a solution? Belts just won’t last as they get torn up from being too loose……LOVE the mower other than this!

Purchased this to replace a guide pulley kzread.infoUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.

Seat falling apart very early from new, hood cracking like an egg shell even though it's garaged at all times when not used( this is a very common JD issue), steering linkage joints pitifully small not much bigger than a throttle linkage joint, seat suspension rubbers crumble all the time and deck paint issues like mentioned in the video. So I’ve owed a 42” John Deere for years and the way you replaced the drive belt is exactly the way I’ve done it for years. This is the perfect video on how to do it the right way. In many videos I’ve watched they seem to avoid removing the mower deck which takes all of 5 minutes. Sure makes this job a lot easier.

I changed my belt two years ago and it took me forever to get the new belt on correctly. You made it look so simple. I'm getting ready to replace my deck blades...😕 One thing I always check whenever I remove my deck is to make sure its level when I put it back on. It's a simple adjustment and only takes a couple minutes. I also grease the fittings.

Your channel is just simply awesome! I’ve got to do this to my Husqvarna riding mower this weekend. Come to find out those sealed bearings from the factor in the spindle last a grand total of 74 hours. From your channel and others I’ve learned to to make it so that never happens again. At least not from a lack of grease. This thing basically exploded out the bottom. I heard a change in sound as I was mowing but because of the high grass I was in I thought it had just caked on and would clear in a turn or two. It was NOT grass, it was a part entirely engineered to fail! There are no zerk fittings, even if it had one the bearings are sealed! Shady af if you ask me. Anyway thank you so much for your awesome videos! Your three goals have been achieved! Deep gratitude from this guy

I have used many of the major brands over the years and depending on what type of job you need them for they all have their strong and weeks points. Personally I have found that what works best for my needs is a Stiga all wheel drive with the deck in front instead of under the machine, e.g. the Park Pro series. This allows you to easily get into corners, between bushes and shrubs etc. and allows for super easy access to the deck whether it is for cleaning, servicing, sharpening blades, or whatever. They are a bit pricey but have outlived anything else I have tried and should be worth the investment in the long run.

When the deck belt gets stretched on the older John Deere’s, you can loosen the 2 bolts on the PTO cable bracket and slide the bracket back about 1/4 inch and tighten the belt. I know you cannot do it on some of the E models as the bracket is welded to the deck

I like your detailed instruction and play by play on the john deer. When people ask me which mower to buy i tell them the simplicity line of lawn and garden tractors have a 40-50 year history of making mowing equipment. The welded mower decks are far better than the stamped out sheet metal varietys. But most people dont know because Simplicity is not sold in box stores. Repair folks rarely see them.

This is probably the best video I've seen about John Deere repair. Video showing the parts as you were making the repairs was great for a novice like me. Your commentary was excellent. Thank you so much!

Don’t you just “love it” when people bring you dirty equipment. I always make sure I clean my stuff before sending in for service.

One time we had a customer set their chainsaw case up on our counter to leave it with us. We opened the box and out crawled a bunch of COCKROACHES!! That was the worst.

When I worked at a Snapper dealer in the 90's we had a customer bring in a riding mower to repair. It was SO dirty you couldn't harley tell it was a mower. So I took the time to pressure wash it before I did anything. When the customer came to get her mower, she reamed my a** out good for washing it! She said that she wanted it fixed, not washed! She said she could have washed it herself! 😐 Just can't win.

Ya know when I would get an extremely dirty engine or mower, I'd tell them up front that I will have to clean and charge them as part of the bill, just can't do a good job or open a crankcase with them dirty, its ok if they take somewhere else, and I don't mean that in a bad way...

Excellent video with detailed instructions. I've watched other videos that weren't anywhere as good as this. I bought a JD E120 lawn tractor about 4 years ago and haven't had an issue with the deck. I also clean my tractor and mower deck after each use. I cringed when I saw how filthy the deck was in this video. When the time comes for deck maintenance, I will refer to this video. I've also converted the EZ oil change feature to the conventional oil and filter change which saves a ton when doing that maintenance.

lol, glad i found your video. up until now all i could find were guys showing me how to change the stupid belt. never occurred to me the pulleys were seized from fabric, and just being worn out after a decade of use. cheers to you, now for the fun part........

Spot on video as always! My spindle pulleys wouldn’t rock off easily, so I used Steve’s Small Engine Saloon trick of using my $14 Harbor Freight air chisel with a point chisel on it to remove stuck flywheels. Left spindle pulley nut on loose at top of threads to protect threads and with my hand pulling up under pulley hit a couple of bursts and pulleys came right off. Keep these great videos coming!

Well now that was a interesting and informative video I can't believe how backed up you are with machines. If someone brings a lawn mower in to you today they probably better have a backup mower or their grass is going to be so tall that they'll need more than a lawn mower to cut it by the time they get it back.

Just bought a John Deere D105 today from the pawnshop. Got it home and was super excited to cut the grass only to soon find out that there was no belt on it. I called the pawnshop and spoke with the manager. She offered to give me my money back or pay for a belt. I chose to let them buy the belt. Because I did a quick KZread search and found your video and saw how easy it is to replace the belt. I bought this mower for a really good deal. It has low hours and looks like new. I did get a 6 month warranty just in case though. When I put the belt on tomorrow I will check out all of the other deck parts now that I know what to look for. Thanks for sharing this great video.

I cannot believe you are only at 16k. You have saved me a bunch of money with your tutorials. I saw my small engine mechanic at his retirement party and he asked why I hadn’t been in for any repairs. He was sure I had hired a yard service and wasn’t using of my yard toys. I didn’t tell him the truth.😉
