Can We Trust Our Feelings and Intuition?

The conditioned mind will often create feelings out of fear, and these should not be the guiding force in your life. Eckhart urges us instead to discover the deeper feelings that arise from Presence-the source of true intuition-and to let that guide your actions.

    This video is life changing. I was smack in the middle of a life crisis after a lay off when I listened to this...I will never forget it. I was in full panic mode, walking my dog in the freezing cold, listening to this video and stopped dead in my tracks in shock and said, out loud, "you mean I don't have to trust my thoughts?". It changed my whole life in a few seconds. If you are struggling with anxiety, a crisis, worry...please try this video out. The weight I felt lifted off my shoulders when I realized I could ignore my thoughts because they are probably wrong, changed everything.

    It is not just what Eckhart says, but more how he says it. I have tried listening to audiobooks read out by AI or even other humans. But, they just do not have the same impact. His voice, intonation, the long pauses and the impromptu little giggles just make all his teachings come to life for me 🙏🏻

    I love his giggles❣ it's kinda facetious. His words are so true and simple but yet seem so complicated in the same breath. I would love to be less reactive as a whole. I think feelings aren't right or wrong they just are but if I make decisions based solely on my feelings alone it doesn't work out well.

  • @Daniel-pr4uk

    @Daniel-pr4uk

    Notice that there is no laughter, practically silence in the audience, after he says 'I cannot stay with a white male' at 16:44 (which he thought was funny). All other times when he told a joke there was tons of laughter, but only at this time there was silence. It's amazing to see just how deep and far has gone the indoctrination and social engineering against whites/europeans in every level of the media, advertising and culture. In today's culture to be white/european is a shameful thing, it is bad, racist, evil, priviliged and boring (as opposed to to the black/brown, which are presented as victim, good, cool, sexy, by the controlled scripted media that hammers it nonstop). The silence in the audience when he says it shows just how deeply indoctrinated most whites/europeans have become, to feel deeply guilty for existing and to literally erase their society on the alter of racial diversity, to atone for the sins of their ancestors, which apparently can only be achieved by the complete destruction of any possibility of europeans to have their own cultures and countries.

  • @rumigirl

    @rumigirl

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Daniel-pr4uk That is a very astute observation, that the audience did not laugh there. I noticed that, too. But I think Eckhart Tolle would invite you to look at your reaction (the one you share with the vast majority of the audience) more closely, and in light of what he's saying here. I am guessing that you are offended when someone complains about white male privilege. Why? Why are you offended? People who say that most of the people who have been in control of the world for the past few centuries (and have been working hard to maintain their control) have been white males are simply observing a truth. Nobody has said, "Erase your society. Destroy your 'possibility' of having your own culture and country." (Notice that you yourself said, "....which apparently can only be achieved by the complete destruction....." The word "apparently" shows that you are interpreting; you are supplying that information. It isn't what is said.) The idea that someone else is asking us to destroy ourselves is the story that, if we're white, our ego tells itself, so we can react and call someone wrong. That is fear talking. Non-white peoples are only pointing to what is. Try to see their point without the reactivity -- without your story, your twist on what they're saying. The irony here (if I may be so bold) is that white people who take this point of view ("look how far the social engineering has gone") are actually claiming the victim status they say is so abhorrent to them. Like Eckhart Tolle would say, try not to be offended. Is it really true that anyone has asked you to erase yourself? No. I think, if you can listen without ego, they're saying, "Please notice that I, too, exist, and that I am entitled to kindness and consideration -- and freedom from threats of violence -- just like you are." Is this an outrageous request? I don't think so. If we all just looked at what REALLY is -- and not what our fear says is -- we could, as Tolle points out, find real solutions that arise from the deeper, calmer, more connected parts of us, and all would be well. I wish you (and myself, and all souls) this kind of experience of life. Peace. 😊🌱💚

    Every time I feel worried about one of my kids, I remain still and wait for a feeling about it. After about a minute or two, I feel a sense of peace that tells me my fear is not real, and everything is ok. It works every time. This initial worry could stem from an unusually long amount of time of an unanswered text, or they are traveling abroad, or I just start to worry for no particular reason...etc.

    I once was confronted by a very dangerous neighbor at a time when I was doing a lot of meditation. For a moment I felt intense fear, then it just went away. I just let him rant but I did not engage with him. Meanwhile his daughter saw and fled home to get her mom to try to prevent my upcoming assault. Quickly he devolved into a painful commentary regarding his health. I offered understanding of his pain and we sat on the stoop. He began to cry and I patted him on the back. When his family rushed upon the scene their jaws dropped in total shock. I stood up and offered him back to them. He shuffled off sobbing. He never bothered me again....no doubt he believed I'd used some dark magic against him and it scared the tar out of him. Last I heard he was back in prison. So when you do the work, you will be alerted to the situation and feel the appropriate feeling, but then it will go away. It will not consume or control you, and in probably most cases, your lack of non engagement.....that is, your ego will not engage with his ego, will be protective or life saving. In some cases it may not, in which case, if say you were a cop, you'd be more alert and ready to act unencumbered by fear. But you might also simply not react. When people get very evolved and simply accept what is they often just don't react, including to say other's emergencies. But your mind will be clear and how you react will depend upon your personality and ego. Just know that once you've arrived at a certain point, your feelings will be genuine and untainted, and in the case of pain or fear, that once alerted, they will simply go away. If grieving the pain will recur whenever you focus on your loss, but then go away when your thoughts go elsewhere. Therefore it will not consume you. And physical pain will be much less. Mindfulness is healing and can lead to miracle healings.

    As much as I like Eckhart, I don't know if I completely agree. There are a lot of times where people have a gut feeling that something's wrong and it turns out that there really was something wrong. Fear is a survival mechanism. If you tell yourself things are okay despite a healthy amount of fear, you might end up endangering yourself. If it's just small or irrational fear or discomfort, then that probably isn't an issue but I don't know, I feel like fear can be beneficial.

    I think he is referring to reacting fully out of fear, and not intuition. The young woman was afraid of him and wanted to leave. When he was fine with her leaving she realized that if he was a murderer he wouldn't want her to leave. So her fear left and her mind cleared. Fear can run wild in us, and be very destructive. If you are present and aware of what is going on around you, it is easier to make decisions not based on fear.

    Same here. So after a while I learned that my intuition always knew best and made a resolve to always listen to that little voice, because it must truly be coming from Spirit. I have never regretted that. My life has been much smoother since, and my intuition has grown measurably as a result. I feel divinely guided now. I'd like to think that that is what's happening, so I keep my intuitive ears (which are close to my gut) ever open.

    "I cannot explain with words. Through life experience, you have to find out for yourself: a deeper feeling that comes out of presence is true intuition. It is different from something that arises from the conditioning of your mind." Simple honesty and truth in his words. It is inexplicable. The only way to experience intuition is to practise awareness of the present moment. Otherwise, we're continually trusting feelings based on fear.

    I notice a lot of people want to "learn" more about what Eckhart teaches. They seek the information. Which is great I did too, gotta start somewhere. Absolutely continue to listen. Yet, many people say "i dont quite just get it." How can I be aware and conscious without thinking? The understanding is awareness not knowledge. You wont "get there" by trying to learn more. You will get it by becomming more aware. Dont try to understand it, just try to be more aware and you will understand it without even knowing.

    I'm an avid follower of Eckart, but one thing I find hard to digest is how you're supposed to respond consciously and not get at least a little emotional if you're being treated terribly. Sometimes you need to defend yourself or take practical steps to correct a wrong if it helps in certain situations (perhaps even helping to make an unconscious person more conscious, without personally attacking etc); not to make yourself feel better necessarily, but to rectify problems and help yourself or others deal with traumatic events.

    This is a very STRONG IRON LARDER for me to climb with onto consciousness. You explained it so well that one can actually feel the palpitations of the HEART. THANKS SO VERY MUCH

    Such a difficult state of being to actually accomplish when shit hits the fan but I can only imagen how blissful one must feel if they are able to achieve it. Hope I'll get there someday

    SairaEats "it" is not a state. Its your natural state - the natural reality. Not a state at all. You will by definition never "get there" because there is nowhere to get to:) it is right here always. Nothing can be gained to "see it". Rather it lays in the complete opposite direction. Everything must be given up - lose everything - yourself. Like Eckhart himself writes in the power of now: "Die before you die". Not a concept but a VERY real truth. It is about death not in the abstract way, but in the most personal way - YOUR death. Everything you think of as you, every belief must be seen through and slain. And maybe then it is seen that it never was there in reality:) peace and love

    Use your heart as your guide; It should neither be bursting with joy or with pain, but at peace. Then you will be there.

    You will realize it. Just by orienting yourself in that direction, God/Source will respond. I'm sure you know that though, don't believe your doubts!

    Of course, we should trust our intuition. I was driving early one morning, I was approaching a stoplight, it had turned green. I heard Stop, very loudly. I was alone in the car, no pedestrians, no radio. I stopped. A loaded logging truck way over the speed limit went thru his red light. I would have been smeared all over that truck. I listen very closely now. Ego keeps hammering on. Intuition just speaks, softly some times.

    Eckhart Tolle is a master to show us the difference between ego and just accepting facts with no fuss. A very good reminder how to keep our inner peace. And he always does it in such a hilarious way! You understand immediately with a big recognising laugh! Thank you so much Eckhart!

    I needed to hear all this today. I'm having a great laugh. Control and defense can be very significant influences in our lives. I don't think emotions are the most reliable resources and people have been upset with me about this so I tend to keep it to myself. Thank you so much :)
