My Dad bought a PIANO 😱. He passed away before he ever learned to play. Nobody wants a used piano. I couldn’t GIVE it away due to cost of moving and retuning.

Mad respect for both of you. I am fairly musically inclined and have tried to teach myself how to play guitar several times. I spent 10 years in the Navy and took a guitar on the ship with me when we were deployed. Even over a 6 month deployment with nothing else to do, I still could not pick it up. I have come to the determination that I just cannot play a fretted instrument. The fact that you two can just switch and still play a very recognizable tune, is extremely impressive.

This is a SUPREMELY ENJOYABLE video, girls! I dearly love videos of the two of you making music together. Marie's Wedding is an upbeat, filled-with-joy, smile-maker, and it's a treat to hear the two of you play it together on your own instruments. When you switched, Corie made Katie's fiddle squeal a bit, but then Corie picked the melody on Katie's fiddle and it was beautiful! THANKS SO MUCH! 👍👍

Y'all inspired me to go find my violin (which I haven't really played since I was in junior high and I am now in my 50s) (we didn't call it a fiddle, but I think I would've done better maybe if we had ). My orchestra teacher, who'd be over 100 if he were still with us, had stamped my name on my violin case with one of those vintage Dymo label makers. I traced over the decades-old label. I rosin'd up the bow, tried to get it in tune (my violin is one mom bought on time from the local instrument store and it has a little whistle tuner on the bottom that is A). I picked it up and tried to approximate "Marie's Wedding" (fail, and the dogs took off). I went back to something ( I can't tell you the name, it's just something I knew) my fingers remembered and I PLAYED MY VIOLIN. I sounded terrible, but it was wonderful. THANK YOU. Y'all inspired me and I am so grateful. Love y'all. 🎻 💞

You both crack me up!😂 This is why I love watching y’all! Both of you are equally talented beyond words. Corie, yes, you’re a little rusty playing the fiddle, but like Katie said, it’s been about 10 years so you did fine. Katie, you tend to play both instruments anyway, but yes you are more skilled with the fiddle because your heart is in it, just like Corie’s heart is in playing the guitar. What made me laugh so hard was the expressions on y’all’s faces while playing each other’s instruments. Priceless! This was fun and I love how open and honest y’all are. Thank y’all for sharing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

WOW!!! What a great demonstration…!!! I recently returned to playing the piano every day after 30 years of not playing at all. I would consider myself an intermediate pianist in my peak years in the 70’s after 10 years of taking piano lessons from age 6 to 16. Now, at age 68, I have been so amazed and thankful that everything has come right back to me like I never stopped playing. I absolutely don’t know how I lived without a piano in my home for almost 30 years…!!! In March, my husband surprised me with an electric grand piano for my birthday…WOW was I surprised and now even more thankful for this wonderful gift….I finally realized what had been missing in my life for so long…!!!

Been 4 days so you may not see this but here goes. When I was 19 the last thing my Grand dad asked me was to learn to play an instrument and died in less than 6 hours later. So I picked up a guitar and a book. After 3 years I was ok and I started on the Banjo and became pretty good with it. Over the years, I played with several professionals. Then the Fiddle, Mandolin, Bass, an dobro etc. Yes, learning one instrument translates a lot to another one. The music theory is the same. Each instrument makes it easier for another. You just have to remember which one you are playing at the time. LOL At 58, I had my first Stroke, then open heart and a second stroke, then a heart attack. I play very little now at 70. I miss it dearly. I enjoy watching you girls and listening to you play. I was raised on a farm in Western Kentucky but great great granddadad came from North Carolina. We have a lot in common.

Most courageous women I've ever seen. Loved the willingness to do this live without rehearsing. So very talented. Well done ladies. I had a "hillbilly" uncle from the mountains of Virginia, who couldn't read or write, but hand him an instrument and in seconds he was playing it like a pro. I had never met another who could learn so intuitively. I was struggling to learn guitar and banjo, he would just pick them up and play them. It was so impressive to watch and so frustrating at the same time.

I remember this song when I was a kid and it was always in a Scottish Pipe Band that I belonged to that we played this song. I only recall some of the lyrics. I do know its Gaelic and here is a bit of history in case you were interested. ("Mairi's Wedding" (also known as Marie's Wedding, the Lewis Bridal Song, or Scottish Gaelic: Màiri Bhàn "Blond Mary") is a Scottish folk song originally written in Gaelic by John Roderick Bannerman (1865-1938) for Mary C. MacNiven (1905-1997) on the occasion of her winning the gold medal at the National Mòd in 1934. In 1959, James B. Cosh devised a Scottish country dance to the tune, which is 40 bars, in reel time.) I had a great smile on my face as you gals did your stuff. So cute the two of you I must say. Keep up the fine entertainment. This was a real switch that was not only daring on your part but also very well done considering you both favor your own instruments. Thanks for sharing.

Haha funny that when this style hit a radio they called it "old" when itvwas new to so many. but so many songs/melodys came from family pass downs of over 300 years older than america across oceans... good stuff!

Awesome job girls. I play several instruments and have been playing for decades. To play an instrument you need to do two things: 1. Know in your head what you’re going to do, and 2. Physically execute it. When I come back to an instrument after being away from it for a little bit, I notice it takes me a minute to refresh on those two points. On the steel string acoustic guitar in particular you need to build up the callesus on you left hand fingertips. I play button accordion, lever harp, pedal steel, dobro, mandolin, etc. I agree with the point that you can transfer skills from one instrument to another even if they are completely different. I draw on piano skills while using both hands on the harp and draw on pedal steel skills to pluck a certain combination of strings on the harp and using various fingers to play a scale or melody. God bless y’all and greetings from Texas

I play guitar, bass, piano, banjo, and drums, all badly, yes you can apply theory and technique from one to another, but I have to divide my time and energy to all of them, and so my music routine is very sporadic, sometimes I'm more into listening to others play ,sometimes I'm researching music, presently I'm most interested in getting my mountain dulcimer in playing condition and adding it to my list instruments I can play. It has been hanging out on the wall of my bedroom music studio looking pretty for several years, looking forward to getting this 45 year old instrument singing again, music is a wonderful adventure, although,a slow journey at times.
