Justin has just run into one of the main problems of an unfinished build: you have to figure out what they were intending to do, what they have completed and what not and what needs to be done to finish the build to end up with a reliable truck.

That thing inside the right frame rail you said had a coolant line, my 88 K100E had Artic Fox fuel tank heaters on it. It cycled coolant through tubes in the fuel tanks to keep the fuel from gelling in the winter. I didn't see the lines going into the tanks, so you'd be better off removing the rest & capping off the coolant line. It looks like there are some components missing in back of the cab. There's supposed to be a post on each side. One for the exhaust stack. The other to hold the air intake.

Justin, I was a certified Heavy Duty Truck technician from 1975 until 1991. Don't know much about today's electronic controlled trucks but that KW cab over I know a few things. First, the cab jack should be a push-pull jack (ATF is what was used back in the day to fill it). You asked how to get the radiator out. If the jack was in good working order you can take it all the way over. since it appears that its not put a light chain around the back cab support at the cab safety release and and through the hole in the fuel tank support. Once you go past dead center on the cab you can release the jack pressure lever a little at a time to take it all the way over it should go 90 degrees. Is that a 450 Cummins? Those Big Cam motors were hard on cams because most mechanics didn't set the overhead correctly. It wasn't so much the cam as it was the cam followers that hold the push rods ran to tight wearing down the cam under heavy loads.

Be Very careful both cab jack cylinders are always working when jacking up. If one fails you will warp the cab before you know it. Always watch when going up on an older truck, seen it done and it’s not good.

Hi Justin, hope you and the family are well. Used to drive a LTL9000 Prime Mover OTR back in the late eighties. She had a 350 Cat in her, and a 15spd Transmission. To my knowledge, the 15spd has deep reduction, least mine did. Also the Blue splitter that is on your gear lever, stands for 15spd. Hope this helps you son, cheers mate. John Queensland Australia

I watched a guy jack one of these past center without a chain and the cab fell to the hinge stops. Everything in the cab crashed through the windshield onto the shop floor. He said he forgot to look for the dual action cylinders and of course they were only single action (he should have chained it anyway). There was a lot of foul language in the shop that day. These things have always been dangerous, and we never fully trusted the safety stops. Consider chains and adding your own support (IE. 4x4) to make it safe from falling over or back down.

I'm just going from my IH cabover days, those lifting rams and all the lines hold most of the hydraulic fluid, the pumps hardly had any in, and you need to work it to self bleed the system. Don't have a clue about that solenoid because IH didn't have that, the air system to help raise the cab is great, IH's had a tire valve on the pumps so if you had no air, you just used outside sourced air and a tire chuck to raise. You'll enjoy working on the engine because cabovers where great for that, the only hard stuff to do was front stuff like rads, air to air, water pumps and fan clutches, limited room and you need to really crawl in deep. Taking the grill off is a must for front work as well. I typed this before you asked about the rad LOL, IH rads come up and tilted over the engine and out, grill like I said comes out to help get to lines etc.

Justin, I believe that back in the day it pulled off of one fuel tank and return to the other fuel tank with a line running underneath from one tank to the other to keep the fuel level or equalized. I’m sure that Allison should be able to tell you if that’s true or not.

Great watch Justin 👍 my cabover you have to keep pumping until it almost free falls on its own , it comes to rest at the point whereby if you were sitting in the driver's seat you would be staring at the road ! This clears the radiator for access. Mind you if you leave anything on the bunk or coffee in the holder it goes everywhere which I once found out 😂 enjoy the build cos we are 👍❤️

Also couldn't see your K, but IH's you wanted to leave in neutral before raising the cab because the shifter would fit into a sleeve and come out when raising the cab, before starting we always climbed up and hit hi/low to hear it click to make sure we where still in neutral, and when lowering we made sure the shifter went back into that sleeve or it wouldn't shift and flop around.

To take that radiator out, what we used to do was undo those pistons and pulll the cab all the way over. that way you can get to it, just like your W900. That's old school and you do need an overheaad crane to assist you, there might be a better way to do it today, it's been a while since I worked on trucks. Check out the Iron Duke eps on twin stick garage, he has some really cool ideas for his K100 and there he also has an automatic cab lift setup thaat you might like.

I did dedicated for five year so I really didn’t have to deal with load board apps etc. On this particular app, when you click on a load let’s say to bid or book it. It’ll also tell you if you want to connect to your load board to take action on this load. Do I have to create an account with coyote, TQL etc in order to book any loads or just click on the book the load? Any help would be appreciated! Or if you have a video explaining more about the app let me know.

You have to have an active authority and insurance and have your account set up like Coyote JB Hunt in order to actually book the load the bidding is just to place offers like I do but if you feel like it’s a good enough price you can just say book it now Hope this helps God bless

We will be happy when we get our KW Cabover running and drive able. A friend of ours will be back late this week to finish up the wiring and we will be back home around that time. We got a load heading to Oklahoma and then we wil possibly get another load to head around Dallas Fort Worth area's. Kid's are having fun with Gigi Mr's Daisy's mom and she love's to cook. She was rocking out and cooking to Pearl Jam one of the Live Album's and I was like Daisy look at this. Showed her the security system video of her mom cooking and singing to song's. Jesse was like that's cool she's having fun. She would walk up to the camera and sing ACDC'S song's. She was playing music through Jesse's desktop computer that has tons and I do mean tons of album's all kind's. They was doing that again washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen. Jesse was like look at this one and she was playing one of the autistic guitar's. And we had fun watching her and tue kid's play drum's and guitar's. There all asleep in the living room cause I can see all of them on the couches. Dam Daisy said the load boards u showed was allot. Jesse said he'll u gotta watch the dispatcher's find load's that are good and $$$$$. We are traveling to Kansas City and see friend's of our's and stay for a day or two. Nathan was like i.can run up and get grandma and Mr's Daisy. And they both said over our dead bodies and Jesse's driving and he's actually crying laughing so hard. I told him it's all good and he was like Gigi just said hell Jesse better not do that run without me. He said he will be taking her. We have to haul a special load to haul it to Las Vegas and Gigi Mr's Daisy's mom told Jesse that she would love to go tuere again and he said it will just be him and her. Mr's Daisy's mom and Jesse's grandma was best friend's. So was my grandma. Gigi couldn't come with us due to Dr's appointments and she couldn't miss them.

Why do you buy your batteries from high-end retail like Peterbilt best places where the batteries are probably half that price and just as good just wondering not being difficult my friend
