Can we fix this broken Ryobi Inflator?

Ғылым және технология

In this video we look inside of a broken Ryobi P747 Inflator/ Deflator. I received this from eBay. The seller mentioned that it had an error. I am hoping to do a board level repair on this one if possible. We know these are hard to get parts for so absolutely hoping for board repair or at least something we can replace with easy, cheap and available parts. I hope you find the video helpful and at least enjoy the look inside and troubleshooting. Thanks for watching!

Great video. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post it. My P747 is still working but it is now extremely loud. I'm going to take it apart and lube it up.

Thank you for the information. I have the same unit which seems to be much less efficient in pumping. I was also concerned that parts might not be available.

Thank you for taking the time to record/upload this video. You helped me find the hidden screw. :) Bad news is the motor on the high-pressure side of my pump is dead. I have a piston from a P747 that you can have for the cost of shipping. I'm in north central Florida. Just let me know.

I'm looking to use low-volt DC vacuums or other devices to force air through activated charcoal. I will probably be removing a bad battery on a dyson vacuum, hook it up to another source of power, and adding the charcoal to the container where the vacuum bag would be if a dyson had one. I'm doing this because of the WWIII thing, and the low DC volts is what is easiest to obtain through alternate power sources like solar panels.

The only thing I would know is to make sure there is no corrosion on the board. I know corrosion is a big issue on many of these. I cleaned a lot from the board in this video. Glad you found the video helpful and best of luck to ya!

I have a P747 and a sigle blade just broke off from what looks like a fan. It still works on bike/car tires, so I think if for deflating or inflating on the other side. It looks like the fan at 8:43 on the right. Is that part available anywhere? Can I just remove it and not use that side?

  • @ThriftyToolShed

The inflator/deflator has its own fan assy in the black disc shaped housing on the opposite side of the air pump. It even has its own separate motor. I believe you are referring to the cooling fan for the air compressor itself. It requires cooling because of the high temperature generated while compressing the air. It may be fine like it is or if vibration is really bad you may be able to break off the opposite side blade to balance better. I have not seen many parts still available for these now. You may get lucky and find one on eBay.

@@ThriftyToolShed I was watching the AvE channel where he does a teardown of the Milwaukee M12 inflator. The pump/motor setup on the M12 looked practically the same as the one on this Ryobi. I guess these kind of inflators all do things about the same way.

They all do seem to be very similar. Also TTI makes Milwaukee and Ryobi so they may be even closer.

Yeah it's a shame they build them so cheap and if you want to, and can fix it, it would cost you more than it would to buy a new one.
