Can We FINALLY Conquer P Trail????

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We have been unable to make it past the first 100ft or so on P trail in over 5 years, ever since experiencing the Sherp on our visit to Russia one thing has never left my mind! Can we do P trail!! lol. The toughest part of P trail is the couple feet of water is standing on several feet of sticky, gooey quicksand like muskeg lol, the atv's and sxs's can only make it so far pushing the gooey mess before it stacks up so high you can not go any further, we have tried several times and always the same result! We got in touch with the Canadian dealers and they brought out 2 brand new Sherps to give it a go. Check out their website for any other info or questions sherp.ca Hope you enjoy the video my friends!

    The fact that they can relax and stay dry with the window open with all of that mud and water flying everywhere is what's most impressive to me.

    But that kinda defeats the point of offroading when all you do is point it and press the gas on a quad you at least have to time the accelerations and shift your weight in this you just sit and press the gas

    Hate to say it folks, but russian equipment is made to withstand what russia has to offer and that is the outlands of siberia. After all the failures of japanese, american, german, and korean atvs, the russians just had to show the world how it is done. Now, in time trials on such a trail, speed will get you nowhere if you can not finish the course. This machine is insane! Love it!!

    This terrain is difficult for non amphibious vehicles like four wheelers and SxSs, but using something amphibious is completely different. While I'm really impressed by the Sherp, I have been through areas this bad and even much worse (successive beaver dams, traveling up rivers, deep floating muskeg, clay pits, etc.) with my 8x8 Argo with rubber tracks, and I can still go most places with the tires as well. Sherp is certainly a different animal when compared to the Argo or Muddox but the terrain it goes in is definitely not impassable to other amphibious vehicles. Also both Argo and Muddox when tracked are extremely capable in winter, I pretty much go anywhere except for steep inclines. Considering the Sherp is skid steer, is there a tire-over-track system in the works for it as well? If not I would be interested in designing something for sure!

  • @vadimrybin1114

    @vadimrybin1114

    You are unlikely to be able to design. The SHARP has a redistribution of tire pressure and a certain tire pressure is selected for each surface. It is difficult to combine with rubber tracks, for you need constant pressure or caterpillars will run across.

    Was in a planting camp that traveled across northern Canada this summer. At our final contract we got 3 of these Sherps. The guy that dropped them off explained kindly, that there was no winch because they don't get stuck. Right. 130 000$ off road rig that doesn't need a winch. Needless to say we got them stuck copious amounts of times, broke drive chains, murdered so drive shaft bolts etc. At the end of the day they're pretty unbelievable equipment and probably the coolest machine any of us had ever been in but damn for that much money they could really use a winch.

    fly_it_like_you_stole_it there's no such thing as a mud motor there's something called a surface motor but it won't make it through there that's scag basically if you took slime grass/weed and cow shit and Everglades mud only boat could get through that trail is the air boat

    I watch y'all work y'alls butts off riding much like I did years ago. I live in Louisiana just south of Shreveport where CATVOS, HighLifter and S-3 is. I was wondering if y'all have ever had any of them up there to ride and if you did would you tell them that 32"- 34" tires would be better if they were wider like the smaller ones. I know here where I live when there's no bottom the wide tires do better especially if they can paddle some

    I don't work in the bush anymore, but when I was a surveyor in Northern Alberta in the 80s we would have cruised up P trail in an Argo, finished our job, and gone home for supper. I remember watching weekend warriors like you guys, and being amused at how much money you spent to try things I was getting paid to do.

    Dear Cobster, no need any +100Hp for this viechle. Secret not in power and torq but in special low pressure wheels (balloons). And If u will see russian channel Герасим Шерп u will understand that such mud passes w\o speed but with wheel pressure lowering and smal speed (for stable moving).

    There is no denying this "trail" is a swamp. And there is no doubt that IF they truly wanted to "clear" this "trail" for the purpose of driving through it on 4x4 vehicles, that they need to get out the earth movers and engineers and do it. Taking a Sherp up it to survey is 1 thing but moving a couple branches and trees by hand (which the Sherp clearly does not need moved) is not going to do a thing for the swamp to be passable. For those thinking the point of this was to be going flat out and adrenaline rush action, you obviously did not get the point. These rigs are about floating and getting places that the standard and modified 4x4's just won't go. For every job, there is a tool. This Sherp machine is a good rescue tool. It is a good survey tool. There are going to be places it CANNOT go. ;) Like everything, it has it's own limits. Some people said things like sending air boats and misc. other types of vehicles. In some stages some things would no doubt work. But not in all stages. The point of this was to find 1 vehicle to take the whole trip. Float and drive to the other end of the "trail". (Swamp)
